Chapter 731 Shock
Isabella then said, "Yesterday, Leon accompanied me to buy clothes. When I came out of the fitting room, he was already asleep on the sofa. He looked so tired that I didn't dare wake him up. He didn't wake up until half an hour later."
Hearing this, Susan frowned. She thought to herself, 'Leon and Seb must have been under intense work pressure these days.'
Isabella continued, "So we didn't end up buying any clothes. I took him back to my place, and he fell asleep on the bed and didn't wake up until this morning when I had breakfast ready."
Leon slept for over ten hours; he must have been exhausted.
"While having breakfast, I asked him why he was so tired. He told me that he and Seb hadn't slept for two days and nights. They spent the past few days in the office, only sleeping three hours a day," Isabella said with concern.
Upon hearing this, Susan furrowed her brows again.
She knew Seb and Leon had been having a tough time, but she hadn't realized it was this bad. It seemed that the situation back then was far more serious than she had imagined.
Isabella then said to Susan, "Men have their own struggles. As women, we just need to be more understanding. After all, we chose them."
Susan was silent for a moment, then forced a smile and said, "I see you've become quite an understanding woman."
Isabella chuckled. "It's an act, just for now. Once Leon gets some rest, I'm retiring my 'understanding woman' persona. It's exhausting!"
Seeing that Susan remained silent, Isabella smiled and said, "Think carefully about your future path. Now that this crisis is over, things should calm down now. You and Seb... you need to decide what comes next."
After Isabella left, Susan sat in her swivel chair, feeling conflicted.
Last night, Seb had been calling Susan repeatedly, and she had received many text messages. Did that mean he hadn't slept well either?
Thinking of this, Susan began to worry about him. If Leon was that exhausted, Seb must have been even more stressed.
Susan could still recall his haggard face and bloodshot eyes from yesterday. The thought made her uneasy.
But reason still told her, 'Whatever happens to him is his business, what does it have to do with you?'
Susan then straightened her posture and focused intently on her work.
By the time she got off work, night had already fallen, and the city lights were just coming on.
As Susan walked out of the office building, she saw the same black stretch limousine and the person standing next to it.
But today, he wasn't holding any flowers.
In the cold wind, he looked even more haggard in his black coat, but his expression was resolute. His deep eyes were focused and persistent as he looked at Susan, with a hint of melancholy and sadness that made her heart soften.
Seeing him again, Susan instinctively paused.
Her eyes met Seb's in the air.
A second later, Susan quickly lowered her gaze and hurried down the steps, turning to walk briskly in another direction.
Susan thought he might follow her or try to block her path, but after walking a considerable distance, no one followed.
Susan suddenly stopped and looked back, but among the crowd, she couldn't find the figure she was looking for.
Walking in the cold night wind, Susan's heart sank to the bottom.
She never imagined that everything was under Seb's control, like a chess game, and she was just a pawn.
No wonder Andrew's shallow tactics hadn't been noticed; Seb had just played along.
Thinking of him getting angry at her, his furious expression, it was all an act. The more Susan thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed. He was too inscrutable, and she had been completely outmaneuvered.
But what hurt the most wasn't her own naiveté, but the fact that he would use her like that.
Tears streamed down her face, the cold wind cutting like a knife, quickly drying the tears on her cheeks, but the pain in her heart was impossible to erase.
The next morning, Susan arrived at work with dark circles under her eyes.
"Susan, why are your dark circles so heavy?" Dorothy asked, frowning.
Susan quickly brushed it off, "I had insomnia last night, didn't sleep well."
After saying that, Susan turned and went into her office.
A long while later, Isabella quietly pushed open the door and entered Susan's office.
Seeing Susan sitting in her swivel chair in a daze, Isabella said, "Seb sent flowers again. This time it's yellow roses, which represent apology. I left them outside so they wouldn't bother you."
Hearing this, Susan frowned but said nothing.
Seeing Susan's dejected expression, Isabella sat down in the chair opposite her and tentatively asked, "Did he come looking for you last night? Are you not planning to forgive him?"
Susan straightened up and turned on her computer. "Didn't I tell you? Don't mention him to me again!"
Isabella said, "Alright, I forgot. As long as you're not upset."
"I won't be upset over someone who isn't worth it," Susan said, then began typing intently.
Seeing this, Isabella quietly left the office.
That day, Susan didn't receive many calls or messages.
She only received one text from Seb: [I'm sorry.]
Susan ignored it, still feeling very angry.
That evening, Isabella invited her out for dinner, but Susan declined.
Returning home alone, the place felt cold and empty. Feeling even more dejected, she made a bowl of instant noodles but had no appetite and ended up throwing most of it away.
At ten o'clock, Susan turned off the lights and went to bed.
But she tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
"Susan! Susan!" In the dead of night, someone suddenly called her name from downstairs.
Susan frowned; the voice was very familiar.
Was it Seb?
Yes, it was his voice.
Hearing his voice, Susan initially planned to ignore it.
But Seb kept shouting, and eventually, he got hold of a megaphone and started using it.
Susan was about to go crazy from his antics. How could the people in the building sleep with this noise?
Wearing her nightgown, Susan got out of bed and ran to the window. Looking out, she was stunned by what she saw!
