Chapter 1184 On the Verge of Collapse

"What are you doing?" Cecilia whispered, her heart racing with anxiety.

Daryl grinned and pinned her against the floor-to-ceiling window!

Cecilia glanced behind her, seeing the blue sky and white clouds, and felt a surge of panic. She warned directly, "Daryl, don't mess around!"

Daryl chuckled. "What do you think I would do?"

Meeting his half-smiling gaze, Cecilia frowned.

She knew that Daryl had lured her here with some ulterior motive. She naively thought that as long as she kept things professional and remained distant, everything would be fine. But that was just her wishful thinking.

Seeing Cecilia's nervousness and the hostility in her eyes, Daryl realized he might have taken the joke too far.

He released Cecilia's wrist and took a step back. "Relax, I'm not at the point where I'll just go for any woman."

After being released, Cecilia stood up straight and retorted, "What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing at all," Daryl shrugged.

Cecilia shot him a glance and warned, "You better not have any funny ideas, or I'll end this interview right now."

"I never had any funny ideas; you're overthinking it," Daryl said, looking at Cecilia with a half-smile.

Cecilia rolled her eyes at him and didn't continue the argument.

Turning around, she overlooked half of Maple Valley's cityscape.

Daryl stepped forward and stood beside her. "This building is forty-eight stories high. My father built it ten years ago. Although it's not the tallest building in Maple Valley, it is considered a landmark."

He pointed to several towering buildings ahead. "The tallest one over there used to be Prosperity Group, which is owned by your friend Susan's husband, Seb. That one over there is Johnson Corporation, but now they are part of the same group. This area includes almost all the well-known companies in Maple Valley; it's the CBD of Maple Valley."

Cecilia's eyes followed Daryl's direction, scanning the skyscrapers. Suddenly, she asked, "Which one is Tate Corporation?"

As soon as she said it, she regretted it.

The atmosphere became tense.

Cecilia met Daryl's gaze and couldn't help but blame herself, Why did she have to say that?

Daryl generously pointed in a direction and said, "That blue glass building is Tate Corporation."

"I see," Cecilia glanced at the entirely blue glass skyscraper and nodded.

Daryl continued, "Fields Corporation was initially founded by my grandfather, but it was pretty small back then. It only really took off after my father took over. Now, we have branches in twenty-eight cities worldwide, with over thirty thousand employees, involved in real estate, electronics, clothing, and cosmetics. This building alone houses over three hundred employees. Our corporate culture is to be high-standard in our work but low-profile as a company..."

Daryl continued to talk, and Cecilia quickly took out her recorder to start recording.

After giving Cecilia a brief introduction to Fields Corporation, Daryl said, "Let's go, I'll give you a tour of the building."

"Tour?" Cecilia asked in surprise.

"Yes, bring your camera. I assume you need some photos of me, right? I've seen many magazine profiles with photos taken in the office; it's too monotonous. If you want to be innovative, do something different," Daryl said with a smile.

Cecilia thought it made sense and nodded.

She then grabbed her camera and followed Daryl out of the office.

Daryl first took Cecilia around the floor where the CEO's office was located, pointing out the employees. "The employees have clear responsibilities and are highly dedicated. We offer some of the best salaries and benefits in the industry, so we also expect them to be committed."

Cecilia noticed the employees working diligently, with those who were moving around doing so quickly and efficiently. She thought, 'This is indeed a large corporation, unlike our magazine office where we can occasionally chat in the break room or on the terrace.'

Daryl then took Cecilia to the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

"We're going to the lobby?" Cecilia asked curiously, looking at Daryl.

Daryl smiled and replied, "I want to show you some of our real estate, clothing, and cosmetics companies under Fields Group."

"Okay," Cecilia blushed and quickly lowered her head.

Cecilia wanted to make this interview as perfect as possible. Listening to Daryl's introduction to Fields Corporation and seeing it firsthand had indeed broadened her horizons, so she didn't refuse to visit the subsidiary companies with Daryl.

Daryl first took Cecilia to a real estate company. Cecilia visited a development project by Fields Corporation and took several photos of him.

As they left the construction site, Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "Why didn't Douglas accompany us?"

Daryl was driving himself as they left Fields Corporation.

"He's handling some matters at the office so I can focus on accompanying you," Daryl replied.

Cecilia lowered her head and said nothing.

Under the clear autumn sky, Daryl walked ahead, and Cecilia followed behind.

Daryl wore a safety helmet, and Cecilia put one on behind him.

Daryl's suit was long gone, replaced by a simple white shirt. He didn't carry himself like a wealthy person; instead, he mingled well with the workers at the construction site and could offer many professional opinions. Cecilia couldn't help but think he was he was truly capable.

"Ah." Cecilia lost focus and didn't pay attention to the road, almost stumbling and falling.

Hearing the sound behind him, Daryl turned to see her stumbling.

The next moment, he took a big step to her side and immediately held her in his arms!

As Cecilia stumbled, she was suddenly caught by a pair of strong arms. Instinctively, she leaned into his embrace.

Her safety helmet fell to the ground, and she tightly clutched her camera and recorder.

The camera was expensive company property, and she couldn't afford to break it, or she'd have to pay a month or two's salary.
