Chapter 938 The Situation is Complicated
Seeing Alfonso, Susan couldn't help but be a bit surprised.
Alfonso walked up to Susan with a smile and greeted her.
Susan and Isabella exchanged a look, and Isabella seemed a bit helpless.
Susan quickly caught on and said to Alfonso, "Leon, I'd feel better if you took Isabella home."
Leon nodded and replied, "If Isabella's okay with it, I'd be happy to."
Alfonso looked a bit taken aback and gave Leon a once-over.
Leon and Alfonso locked eyes in a silent showdown.
They both sensed the other's hostility.
Alfonso instinctively looked down and smiled at Isabella. "Isabella, aren't you going to introduce us?"
Isabella wished she could disappear; their intense looks made her really uncomfortable. She was worried they might start a fight.
But she couldn't avoid it, so she reluctantly looked up and forced a smile. "This is my friend Alfonso, and this is my friend Leon."
She hesitated a bit when introducing Leon, questioning if he was even a friend.
"Hey there!" Alfonso was the first to extend his hand to Leon.
Leon hesitated for a moment, then shook his hand.
When they shook hands, both applied some pressure.
Alfonso noticed Leon's assertiveness and wasn't about to back down, so he squeezed harder too.
Isabella and Susan exchanged worried glances.
Luckily, Susan quickly said, "You guys chat, I'll take Isabella to the restroom."
She then pushed Isabella towards the restroom.
Once inside, Isabella clutched her chest. "I'm so nervous. How did they end up meeting today?"
Susan, still a bit shaken, said, "You didn't see the way they looked at each other. It was like they wanted to kill each other. I was really scared they might start fighting!"
"They wouldn't go that far; they're not reckless," Isabella said, trying to reassure herself.
But their looks were intense, and she didn't know how to handle it.
"Susan, why don't you take me with you? I can't deal with this," Isabella said, retreating.
Susan thought for a moment and then said, "I think this might be a good opportunity."
"What do you mean? Do you think things aren't chaotic enough?" Isabella glared at her.
"I'm just saying, you and Leon are so close to admitting your feelings. You're both stuck, and neither wants to make the first move. Maybe Alfonso showing up will push Leon. Don't you think?" Susan said with a smile.
"What kind of idea is that? It might backfire," Isabella frowned.
"Anyway, hiding isn't a solution," Susan said.
"What should I do?" Isabella lowered her head and covered her face with her hands.
Seeing this, Susan teased, "Come on, you were worried when no one was chasing you, and now you're worried because there's an extra guy. It is what it is. Even if things don't work out with Leon, you still have Alfonso, right?"
"What are you talking about? What do you take me for? I'm serious about my feelings!" Isabella shot back.
Seeing Isabella's anxious look, Susan laughed. "Since you're set on Leon, what are you afraid of? It's going to be him anyway."
"Are you saying that if it's not him, I won't consider anyone else?" Isabella said, a bit self-deprecatingly.
Susan laughed. "Alright, the wedding banquet is about to start. I'll push you out and let you sit next to Leon to create an opportunity for you two."
"But..." Isabella hesitated.
Susan, however, pushed Isabella while saying, "But what? This isn't like you."
When Susan pushed Isabella back to the banquet hall, the wedding ceremony had already ended, and the banquet had begun.
Susan looked around and finally found the table where Leon was sitting, then quickly pushed Isabella over.
When Susan pushed Isabella to Leon's side, she smiled and said, "Leon, I'm leaving Isabella with you. I have something to do and need to go."
Seeing Isabella, Leon stood up, pulled out a chair, and let Isabella sit next to him.
Isabella kept her head down, feeling very embarrassed. 'Am I being too forward? Would Leon feel smug about it?'
At this moment, Alfonso in a suit walked over. "Isabella, I've been looking for you. So you're here."
After saying that, Alfonso unceremoniously sat next to Isabella.
Isabella looked up and saw the late-arriving Alfonso, and was stunned.
She was now sitting between Leon and Alfonso, caught in the middle.
Seeing this, Susan also frowned slightly.
After sitting down, Leon and Alfonso exchanged a cold glance, ignoring each other without even a greeting.
At this moment, Susan bent down and whispered in Isabella's ear, "I think the situation is complicated. Be careful and make the most of it!"
Susan patted Isabella's shoulder and retreated.
"Hey..." Isabella saw Susan leaving her alone and felt helpless.
Although there were a few people at the table who were familiar with Leon and Alfonso, both of them looked very serious, so no one was joking around. For a moment, the atmosphere at the table was very tense.
Soon, the waiters began to serve the dishes, and everyone started eating.
Isabella was about to pick up some food when suddenly two people put food on her plate.
"Isabella, chicken wings, your favorite," Alfonso said with a bright smile.
"Your favorite beef," Leon spoke, his eyes filled with concern for Isabella, even though he wasn't smiling.
Looking at the beef and chicken wings on her plate, Isabella could only force a smile and say, "I can do it myself, thank you!"
Leon and Alfonso exchanged a cold glance and then lowered their heads to eat.
For a moment, Isabella found the food tasteless and didn't know how to break the awkward stalemate.
