Chapter 26

"Why aren't you eating?" Seb asked, noticing Susan hadn't touched her food.

"I am," Susan said quickly, taking a bite of her salad.

'This isn't filling me up at all. I'm a meat-lover, not some salad fanatic!' she thought.

Knowing the rich had all sorts of dining rules, Susan couldn't help but ask, "Do you usually eat vegetarian?"

Seb frowned. "Didn't you say greasy food makes you sick and you wanted something light?"

She had said that to impress others, but Seb took it seriously.

Just then, Susan's phone rang.

Seeing it was Henry, she frowned, then smiled at Seb. "I need to take this call, okay?"

"What's so private?" Seb's voice came from behind as she stepped away.

Susan turned to see Seb staring at the table, clearly annoyed. 'If I step out, it'll look suspicious,' she thought, so she answered the call right there.

"Susan, where are you? I ordered your favorite dishes," Henry's voice came through.

Feeling guilty, Susan said, "Sorry, Henry. Something came up. You'll have to eat without me."

"What's wrong? Need help?" Henry asked, concerned.

Seeing Seb's face darken, Susan quickly replied, "No, it's fine."

Suddenly, Seb snatched her phone.

"Mr. Thompson, Susan's having dinner with me. She's pregnant and has specific cravings, so stop inviting her out. Goodbye," Seb said into the phone before hanging up and handing it back to her.

Seeing Seb's smug smile, Susan fumed. "Seb, what was that about?"

Seb's smile vanished. "I meant what I said. I'm your husband. Henry might not know, but I told him. If he bothers you again, I'll handle it."

"Henry and I are just friends. You're being disrespectful!" Susan protested.

Seb placed the phone in front of her, staring intently. "Susan, you're my wife. Our prenup clearly states no close relationships with other men."

Usually quick-witted, Susan was speechless, feeling like she was choking. She could only glare at the infuriating Seb.

Seb knew the prenup by heart, and he was right. She had violated the third clause, but she'd never admit it. That's just who she was.

Seb stood up, looked down at Susan, and softened his tone a bit. "I have a meeting this afternoon, so I'll leave first. Enjoy your meal."

'Enjoy my meal? I'm already full of anger!' she thought.

When Susan glared at Seb, he turned back, making her quickly lower her head. She didn't know why she was so afraid of him.

Seb noticed her look and smirked. "From now on, come here for lunch every day."

"Why should I listen to you?" Susan's voice suddenly came from behind as Seb was about to leave.

"Because I'm your husband." With that, Seb walked out and slammed the door.

The sound of the door closing made Susan's heart skip a beat. She could tell Seb's last words were filled with emotion.

'So what if he was emotional? These plain veggies can at least fill my stomach. Besides, it's a five-star hotel meal, so I shouldn't waste it.' With that thought, she bowed her head and started eating.

After eating, Susan picked up her phone. She wanted to call Henry to explain and tell him about her marriage so he wouldn't contact her anymore.

But no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't find Henry's number. Just as she was getting anxious, she remembered Seb fiddling with her phone earlier. He must have deleted Henry's number.

Thinking of this, Susan was furious. 'This Seb, who knew he was so petty.' Now she had no way to contact Henry and would have to explain to him later.

Just as she was about to exit the contacts, Susan suddenly saw a new saved contact labeled "Husband." She widened her eyes in surprise. She had never saved such a contact.

Looking at the number, Susan realized it must have been saved by Seb because it was his number.

At this moment, Susan was so angry that she laughed. 'This Seb, how could he be so childish, playing such pranks.'

Back at the office, Isabella had already returned from lunch. Seeing Susan, she whispered with a smile, "Seb's food must be as good as a state banquet, right?"

Susan rolled her eyes. "It's purely rabbit food."

"No way, is he that stingy?" Isabella exclaimed.

"Yes!" Susan said emphatically.

At that moment, the sound of crisp high heels echoed.

Susan and Isabella turned their heads to see the elegantly dressed Amelia walking in.

Seeing her, Susan gave a disdainful look and then turned back to her seat.

Amelia also rolled her eyes at Susan. Holding a receipt, she asked, "Who's the accountant responsible for insurance reimbursements? I'm here to collect."

"Here!" Isabella raised her hand and then sat down at her desk.

Amelia placed the receipt in front of Isabella, forced a smile, and said, "I'm here to collect the payment today. Please process it for me."

Isabella glanced at the receipts and said, "Sorry, these receipts don't meet the requirements."

"What do you mean we don't meet the requirements? These receipts were just signed by your boss. Are you saying you don't recognize Mr. Anderson's signature?" Amelia's voice became sharp.
