Chapter 1336 Stay at the Fields Mansion

Upon hearing this, Daryl stayed quiet while Azalea slowly sat down on the couch, her eyes softening as she watched Thaddeus nursing in Cecilia's arms.

Finally, Azalea spoke up, "Alright, let's sit down and talk this out. But let me be clear, I'm only doing this for Thaddeus. Otherwise, I wouldn't let this woman set foot in my house!"

Azalea shot Cecilia a disdainful look.

In truth, if it weren't for Thaddeus, Cecilia wouldn't have stepped into the Fields Mansion again. She felt this deeply.

Cecilia then firmly stated, "Thaddeus is my child, and I've raised him since he was born. No one can stop me from taking him."

Azalea was adamantly opposed, immediately responding, "No way! Thaddeus is a Fields family child. He must stay in the Fields Mansion."

"Then there's nothing more to discuss," Cecilia said, frowning.

"You think you can just walk out of here with Thaddeus?" Azalea threatened, her eyebrows furrowed.

"I'm Thaddeus's mother. Even if Daryl and I divorce, the court will grant me custody since he's still nursing!" Cecilia said urgently.

Azalea sneered, "Fine, then Daryl won't divorce you. Thaddeus is a Fields family child, and keeping him here isn't illegal. With our family's influence, do you really think you can take him away? What a joke!"

Cecilia grew anxious, clutching Thaddeus tightly as he nursed.

Elijah quickly tried to calm Azalea, "Mom, please don't be so agitated. Thaddeus is so young; he can't be separated from his mother. Look how well he's nursing. We can't be so cruel as to separate them."

"What do you suggest? Let Thaddeus be taken away? I will never agree to that!" Azalea said, her face darkening.

The situation reached a stalemate.

Daryl, feeling frustrated, stood by a dresser and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, ready to light one.

Azalea quickly intervened, "Thaddeus is still young. You can't smoke here!"

Daryl's hand froze, and he put the cigarette back in the pack.

Cecilia could sense that, despite Azalea's cold attitude towards her, she genuinely cared for Thaddeus. It was clear Azalea wouldn't let Thaddeus go easily, but Cecilia couldn't give up on him either. She felt a deep sense of fear, knowing she couldn't match the Fields family's power.

Both sides remained at an impasse.

After a while, Thaddeus, exhausted from his earlier crying, fell asleep after nursing.

Finn smiled and suggested, "Mrs. Azalea Fields, Thaddeus is asleep now. It's not advisable to move him. Perhaps we should let Thaddeus and his mother stay here for now and discuss his future later?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Finn.

Cecilia looked at Finn, dissatisfied with the suggestion. She wanted to leave with Thaddeus immediately, but she knew it was nearly impossible given Azalea's stance. No one, not even Elijah, would dare go against Azalea.

Daryl stayed quiet, looking like he was checked out of the whole situation. He felt that Thaddeus wasn't his kid, but he had to follow his mom's lead.

Elijah thought for a moment and then nodded, "Mom, I think Finn's got a point. Thaddeus is asleep and shouldn't be moved. Plus, you and Cecilia are both pretty stubborn. Let Cecilia and Thaddeus stay here for now. This way, you both can see Thaddeus, and he can be properly cared for."

Azalea exchanged a glance with Finn. The proposal worked in her favor since Thaddeus would stay in the Fields Mansion. They could figure out the future later, and Cecilia and Thaddeus wouldn't be able to leave.

Azalea nodded, "Alright, what do you think?"

She turned to Cecilia.

"I don't seem to have a choice," Cecilia said, frowning.

"Since that's settled, take Thaddeus upstairs to rest. But let me warn you, don't even think about taking Thaddeus away secretly, or you'll never see him again!" Azalea threatened.

Cecilia frowned deeply.

She knew she couldn't do that. With the Fields family's power, they would find her if she took Thaddeus away. Besides, Thaddeus was growing every day; it wasn't feasible to hide him forever.

Finn then led Cecilia, Freya, and the sleeping Thaddeus upstairs.

Finn opened the door to the room Cecilia and Daryl used to share. Cecilia glanced inside, seeing that all the furniture and decorations were unchanged, and felt a pang in her heart.

The memories of her time with Daryl seemed to flash before her eyes, filling her with mixed emotions.

Cecilia turned to Finn, "I don't want to stay in this room. Please arrange for Freya, Thaddeus, and me to stay in a guest room."

Finn thought for a moment and nodded, "Alright."

She then led them to a spacious guest room on the second floor.

Cecilia gently placed the sleeping Thaddeus on the bed and covered him with a blanket.

Looking at the adorable, sleeping Thaddeus, Cecilia couldn't resist kissing his cheek. It felt like an eternity since she last saw him.

After nursing, the pain in her breasts had eased significantly.

Freya approached, feeling guilty, "Mrs. Fields, I'm sorry. I didn't take good care of Thaddeus."

Cecilia looked up at Freya's remorseful expression and comforted her, "Freya, it's not your fault. Even if I were there, I couldn't have stopped Daryl's people from taking Thaddeus."

"Mrs. Fields, what do we do now? Azalea won't agree to let us take Thaddeus," Freya said, worried.

Cecilia sighed, "We have to stay calm and adapt to the situation. You need to stay with me because, apart from Elijah, there's no one else I can trust here."

"Don't worry, Mrs. Fields. I'll stay by your side and Thaddeus's," Freya promised.

Cecilia nodded, "Thank you."

She walked to the window and looked outside. The familiar scenery was unchanged, but everything else felt different.
