Chapter 368 Satisfying

As soon as Elliott heard that, he totally deflated.

Linda kept going, "The company's already being super chill by not holding you accountable for the mess you made, so don't push your luck. If you don't leave now, it's gonna get real awkward when the security guards have to drag you out."

She crossed her arms, looking all smug.

Realizing he was getting nowhere, Elliott snatched up his stuff and bolted.

But right at the door, he turned and spat, "Pioneer Accounting Firm? I hope you crash and burn!"

After he stormed out, everyone clapped, relieved.

Linda gave a nod for everyone to get back to work and then headed into Susan's office.

Once the door shut, Linda grinned and said, "Oh, by the way, Fiona got slapped with a year in prison. Elliott got off, but his rep is trashed. Can't believe he had the guts to ask for severance."

"Guys like him are always shameless," Susan nodded.

Susan was kinda shocked Fiona got a whole year. She figured Fiona would just pay up and maybe get a few months, tops. A year was wild.

Linda sighed, crossing her arms, "You know, Paula's pretty and smart, but she's just too shady. She could've had it all."

"People with bad vibes always mess up their own lives," Susan said, knowing Fiona loved shortcuts and held grudges.

"Ugh, enough about her. It's killing my vibe. I got stuff to do, so I'm out," Linda said, heading out of Susan's office.

After all that drama, it was almost noon.

Susan's stomach growled. She'd skipped breakfast and had a wild night, so she was starving.

Just as she was thinking about food, her phone buzzed on the desk.

She picked it up and saw Seb's number. She couldn't help but smile.

Letting it ring a few more times, she finally answered, "Hello?"

"Busy?" Seb's deep voice came through.

Susan raised an eyebrow, "Kinda."

She'd been late, dealt with Elliott's drama, and hadn't done much all morning.

"Lunch. Now," Seb's voice was firm.

"I—" Susan started, but Seb cut her off.

"Five minutes. Downstairs."

"But—" She wanted to ask what they were eating, but Seb had already hung up.

She put down the phone, pouting.

Seb was all sweet and smooth when he wanted to get in bed, but now he was all business. She thought, 'Next time, he won't get off so easy.'

At noon, Susan grabbed her bag and headed out of the office.

Ingrid came up with a grin. "Ms. Wilson, I'm grabbing lunch. Want me to bring you something?"

"Thanks, but I'm good. Got plans with a friend," Susan smiled and waved her off.

A bunch of her female coworkers started teasing, "Ingrid, can't you see Ms. Wilson's got a boyfriend taking her out for lunch?"

Ingrid said, "Oh, so that's why Ms. Wilson's been looking all dolled up lately."

Susan just chuckled and walked out.

Since the whole Fiona and Elliott drama, Susan felt more welcomed at work. Sure, her promotion to team leader helped, but she liked to think her coworkers had just been misled by Fiona and Elliott's trash talk.

As soon as she stepped out, Ingrid chased after her. "Ms. Wilson."

"Ingrid, what's up?" Susan asked, hitting the elevator button.

Ingrid hopped in the elevator with her and smiled. "Ms. Wilson, the others wanted me to say something to you."

Seeing Ingrid's serious and kinda awkward look, Susan frowned. "Just shoot, no need to be formal."

Ingrid quickly said, "Ms. Wilson, we know you're cool and don't hold grudges. We messed up by listening to others. We're really sorry!"

Susan didn't expect her team to send Ingrid to apologize. Honestly, she wanted to get along with her coworkers, which would make work smoother. She hadn't held a grudge since they only distanced themselves based on rumors.

Susan smiled and patted Ingrid's shoulder. "No worries, I didn't take it to heart. Let's work together and be friends outside of work too."

"Okay," Ingrid nodded eagerly.

The elevator dinged.

Ingrid waved, "Ms. Wilson, enjoy your date. I'm off to get lunch."

Watching Ingrid's chubby figure hustle off, Susan couldn't help but smile.

Stepping out of the building, Susan looked up at the blue sky, feeling great and humming a tune.

Just as she hit the stairs, a sleek black luxury car rolled up.

Leon jumped out of the driver's seat and opened the back door for her.

Sliding into the car, Seb glanced at her smiling face. "You seem in a good mood today."

"Happy to see you," Susan had learned to sweet-talk.

Seb eyed her and said, "I don't think I have that much influence."

Susan grinned, "Fiona got a year in prison. Elliott got off but got canned from Pioneer Accounting Firm and can't work in accounting again."

While that news was satisfying, being genuinely accepted by her coworkers made Susan even happier.
