Chapter 789 A Chance Encounter

Susan knew Isabella would seize the chance to tease her, as it was their usual routine. But honestly, both of them loved this playful back-and-forth; it was a great way to blow off steam from their hectic lives and have a good laugh.

Naturally, Susan had to clap back.

"Why don't you mind your own business and take care of yourself? Don't wear Leon out; Seb's not in Maple Valley, and he's running Prosperity Group now! Must be a tough job."

Isabella started whining, "Hey, you and Seb have been in Northstar City for a month. When are you coming back? Leon's exhausted! He's juggling company stuff and constantly worried about screwing up. If this keeps up, it's gonna mess with our private life!"

Susan frowned at Isabella's question about their return.

She knew Seb wasn't in a rush to come back, probably because he was still figuring out their relationship. They both had their reasons for staying in Northstar City. Even if things weren't as cozy as before, they were still under the same roof, sharing the same bed, and looking after Hayden and Spring. Neither of them wanted to leave and shake things up.

After a long pause, Isabella's tone got serious. "Are you mad because I complained? I was just kidding. You can't be that sensitive, right? Anyway, you and Seb can stay a few more days. Leon and I can handle it!"

Worried she had upset Susan, Isabella quickly softened her tone.

Susan laughed. "I'm not that easily upset. I was just thinking about what to wear today."

Isabella burst into laughter. "You had me worried for nothing!"

"By the way, you and Leon doing okay?" Susan asked with a grin.

"Not as sweet as you and Seb," Isabella replied, blushing.

Susan got serious. "If you two are right for each other, get married and have kids soon. Don't waste your best years!"

Susan meant it. The issues between her and Seb seemed unsolvable. Since Leon and Isabella were so in love and had no major conflicts, they should go for the happy ending, have kids, and grow old together.

Isabella blushed and said, "He hasn't brought up marriage, but I've thought about it. If two people love each other, it doesn't matter who pops the question. I'll find the right moment to ask him in a few days. If he doesn't want to marry me, I'll break up with him. If I don't get married soon, I might never get married!"

Susan couldn't help but laugh. "Break up? Can you really do that?"

"Why not? If he doesn't cherish me, it's his loss!" Isabella said, lifting her chin.

"Anyway, you two should talk it out. You've got two tasks now: keep things good with Leon and keep an eye on the firm for me!" Susan advised.

"I think your last point is the real one!"

They chatted on the phone for a long time before hanging up.

After the call, Susan felt a bit better.

She sat on the bed, lost in thought. They had to faced problems eventually. It wasn't good for her and Seb to keep dodging them.

Leaving Prosperity Group to Leon wasn't a long-term fix. Guys should be focused on their careers. Susan felt like she'd held him back long enough and couldn't let him be so torn anymore.

After freshening up, Susan made up her mind.

She couldn't keep going like this. Pretending to be happy was even more heartbreaking, so it was better to have an open talk with Seb. Even if they couldn't stay together, they still had a long life ahead, and they had Hayden and Spring. They had to face it head-on, even if it hurt. They had no choice because they had so many responsibilities.

Susan resolutely picked up the phone and dialed Seb's number.

The phone rang about ten times before he finally picked up.

"Seb?" As soon as he answered, Susan couldn't help but call out softly.

Seb hesitated for a moment before saying, "What's up?"

"Come home for dinner tonight. I'll cook," Susan said.

Seb was silent for a bit before saying, "I have plans with friends tonight..."

Susan cut him off urgently, "Can you explain to your friends? I have something important to discuss with you."

"What's happened?" Seb asked nervously, hearing her words.

Hearing his anxious tone, Susan smiled. She thought, 'He still cares about me, but he's just constrained. Knowing he loves me is enough; maybe I've been asking for too much.'

The next moment, Susan said, "Nothing happened. I just have something to discuss with you."

"Alright, I'll come home for dinner tonight," Seb hesitated but agreed.

Hearing his agreement, Susan smiled. "See you tonight."

After saying that, she hung up the phone.

In the afternoon, Susan went out early with a basket to buy ingredients.

Maybe it was the last dinner, so she wanted to make it a feast. Susan smiled bitterly to herself.

Susan went to a large supermarket not far from the villa, where the ingredients were very fresh.

She remembered that when they first came to Northstar City, Seb had taken her there to buy groceries.

Thinking about those times, they were really happy. They picked out meat and vegetables together and cooked a delicious meal for Hayden and Spring.

Pushing the shopping cart, Susan looked at the array of ingredients on the shelves, thinking about the past, and couldn't help but laugh to herself.

When Susan saw the very fresh broccoli, she reached out to grab it because her family all liked broccoli.

Just as her hand touched the broccoli she thought was the best, another hand also grabbed it!

Susan was stunned and looked up, only to meet a familiar pair of eyes.

"Ms. Wilson? Oh, no, Mrs. Anderson." The person, seeing Susan, first called her "Ms. Wilson," then quickly corrected themselves.

Susan didn't expect to run into Cecilia in the supermarket and, surprised, smiled and said, "You can still call me Ms. Wilson. I'm not really Mrs. Anderson anymore."
