Chapter 101 Five Million Dollars

Willard and Helen's donations were super valuable, showing their big-heartedness.

Some guests were truly charitable, some came to honor Willard and Helen, and others were simply showing off. The auction was buzzing, and after selling a dozen prized items, they raised over twenty million dollars.

At the auction's peak, the host announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez are so touched by your generosity today that Mrs. Ramirez has decided to auction a precious item she's cherished for over forty years!"

Helen then walked on stage, slightly trembling, holding a blue velvet box. She opened it, looked at the item for a few seconds, and said into the mic, "This brooch was Willard's proposal gift to me. It's our love token. It originally belonged to my mother-in-law and supposedly came from a countess. Willard and I have enjoyed forty happy years together, and I believe this brooch brought us good luck. Now, on our fortieth anniversary, I'm donating it for a good cause, which will make us even happier. I hope it fetches a great price tonight and finds its rightful owner!"

The guests applauded after Helen's speech.

Susan was moved too. This brooch symbolized Willard and Helen's forty years of love.

Helen then said, "I need a young lady to help me show this brooch to everyone!"

The young ladies were eager, knowing the brooch was valuable. They all wanted a closer look.

Helen scanned the crowd and pointed at Susan. "Please come up and help me!"

All eyes turned to Susan. She looked at George beside her, surprised.

"Mrs. Ramirez is calling you, go ahead," George smiled.

With no choice, Susan walked to the stage.

On stage, Susan felt everyone's eyes on her, including some jealous ones, like Cynthia's.

Helen took the brooch from the box and pinned it on Susan's left chest.

Susan realized the brooch was indeed luxurious and beautiful. A large pearl in the center, with small pearls hanging as tassels. The craftsmanship was exquisite, with a royal vibe, especially the large pearl, which looked very valuable.

Over a hundred people, both men and women, were now focused on Susan's left chest. Her figure, paired with a black dress, was already stunning, and the noble brooch made her even more eye-catching.

Some women in the audience were whispering, wondering who Susan was. Her clothes looked cheap, and her jewelry was even shabbier. They thought such a valuable brooch was wasted on her.

Seb noticed the men eyeing Susan, his face darkening.

The host then spoke, "Ladies and gentlemen, this brooch not only comes from the royal family but also symbolizes a happy marriage. Experts value it at 2.6 million dollars. We'll start the bidding at 2.6 million dollars. Who's interested?"

"2.6 million dollars!" a lady in the crowd quickly bid.

"2.8 million dollars!"

"2.85 million dollars!"

"Ladies and gentlemen, each bid increase must be at least 100,000 dollars, thank you!" the host reminded.

"3 million dollars!" George suddenly raised his hand.

"Mr. Anderson bids 3 million dollars!" the host announced.

Susan looked at George, who was gazing at her with admiration. She wondered if he was admiring her or the brooch.

"3.5 million dollars!" Willard suddenly shouted.

All eyes turned to Willard.

Willard smiled at Helen and said, "I'll buy it back for you!"

Helen's wrinkled face lit up with a shy smile.

Standing close to Helen, Susan felt the deep love between Willard and Helen. Even at their age, Helen could still be as shy as a young girl, showing she was truly happy. Susan was moved by this beautiful emotion. She looked at the brooch and thought, 'Maybe this brooch really is a lucky charm.'

The crowd applauded spontaneously.

Willard and Helen embraced affectionately.

For a moment, no one else bid.

Just as the host was about to close the auction, someone shouted, "5 million dollars!"

Hearing that cold voice, Susan frowned and looked up, along with everyone else.

Seb, in a black suit, looked stern and indifferent to the gazes directed at him. His eyes were fixed on Susan.

However, everyone subconsciously thought he was just looking at the brooch.

Susan saw Cynthia beside Seb, looking extremely excited, her eyes shining.

Susan felt a pang of disappointment. Was Seb planning to buy the brooch as a token of love or a wedding gift for Cynthia? That's very much in line with his character—everything he does is grandiose.

The host was stunned for a moment, then seeing no objections from Willard and Helen, said, "5 million dollars, this gentleman bids 5 million dollars! 5 million dollars once, 5 million dollars twice, sold!"

With the fall of the gavel, the brooch was sold.

"Please, this gentleman, come to the stage!" The host made an inviting gesture.
