Chapter 169 Intentionally
Susan soaked in the tub for almost an hour. She only got out when the water turned cold.
She dried off with a towel and caught her reflection in the mirror above the sink.
Her face was bruised, her hair a mess, and her arms and legs covered in bruises.
Seeing her injuries, Susan frowned. She thought about how wild the night had been but was relieved she hadn't been seriously hurt or humiliated. It was a small blessing.
It seemed like fate was on her side, sending George to save her just in time.
Thinking of George waiting outside, Susan put on a bathrobe, tied it securely, and stepped out of the bathroom.
She couldn't afford any misunderstandings with George. Past experiences had taught her that.
As soon as she walked out, George, sitting on the sofa, glanced at her and poured a steaming cup of coffee, placing it on the coffee table.
"Have some hot coffee to calm your nerves," George said in his deep, pleasant voice.
Susan slowly walked to a single sofa, sat down, and held the steaming coffee, inhaling its aroma.
Seeing her bruised cheeks, George frowned and asked, "What happened? Did those jerks hit you?"
Susan shook her head. "It was just a bad day. I ran into my enemies and got beaten up by a mother-daughter duo. Then I went out to buy medicine and ran into those jerks."
Thinking of Sophia and Amelia, Susan felt a surge of anger. If it weren't for them, she wouldn't have had such bad luck.
But then a thought crossed her mind. 'How could it be such a coincidence that I ran into those jerks right after leaving? This town is supposed to have good security since it's a tourist hotspot.'
Could Sophia and Amelia have set her up, with Patrick and Christopher in on it?
Considering this, Susan realized Sophia and Amelia had enough time to arrange for Patrick and Christopher since they knew she was the tour guide for this trip since the morning.
"What are you thinking about? And who are these enemies, a mother and daughter? Could it be Amelia?" George asked.
George knew Amelia. Last time, she had come to George and Vivian Law Firm to sell insurance and had run into Susan. Amelia had caused a scene, so George had stepped in to teach her a lesson. Because of this, Fiona had brought Vivian back, which led to Susan being beaten by Vivian and hospitalized.
"Who else could it be but them?" Susan said.
"It seems you two are really destined to clash. By the way, how did you run into them?" George asked.
Susan frowned. "I work as an accountant at a travel agency in Lindell Harbor. Today, the tour guide got sick, so I had to step in and lead a tour group. It just so happened that Sophia and Amelia were in that group."
"No wonder you're all bruised. I got an ice pack for you. Use it, or it'll get worse tomorrow." George handed Susan a towel-wrapped ice pack.
Touched by his thoughtfulness, Susan took the ice pack and said, "If I hadn't run into you tonight, I don't know what would've happened. Thank you!"
George blushed a bit and replied, "It was nothing. Don't worry about it."
"It might've been nothing to you, but it was a lifesaver for me," Susan said seriously.
George didn't dwell on it and gestured for her to apply the ice pack.
Susan placed the ice pack on her face. Despite the warm room, the ice pack was cold, making her wince slightly.
"By the way, how did you end up here?" Susan asked after a while.
"I was bored during the New Year, so I decided to take a drive. When I got to that alley, I felt something was off and found you," George said hesitantly.
Susan widened her eyes. "Such a coincidence?"
Running into someone in this small town during the day might be possible, but at almost midnight in a secluded alley, it seemed unbelievable to run into George.
Under Susan's gaze, George blushed and nodded. "It was just that coincidental."
Susan lowered her head, thinking maybe it was just a coincidence.
Then George suddenly said, "Do you want to hear the truth?"
Susan looked up, surprised. "What's the truth?"
George intertwined his fingers and then boldly said, "Actually, I heard from Maria that you were in Lindell Harbor."
"Maria?" Susan thought for a moment. Maria had indeed contacted her a few days ago, asking about her situation, and she had told her everything.
George nodded. "She said you were working as an accountant at a travel agency. Since I was bored during the New Year, I decided to come to Lindell Harbor to see if I could run into you."
"How did you find me?" Susan was surprised. She had thought it was a chance encounter, but it turned out George had come intentionally. Why was George looking for her?
George hesitated for a moment, then boldly met Susan's puzzled gaze.
At that moment, Susan felt his gaze was intense, almost burning.
Susan immediately felt she shouldn't have asked that question. George's eyes seemed to say it all.
The next moment, George said urgently, "I called dozens of travel agencies in Lindell Harbor and finally found out from Lindell Harbor Green Water Travel Agency that you worked there. They said you had taken a group to Whispering Winds Canyon, so I drove over to find you."
