Chapter 396 Make Up
Susan rolled her eyes at Isabella and said, "He got back from the central district yesterday."
Isabella's eyes lit up. "Dang, you must've been wiped out last night. Eat up, girl; you might need the energy for round two tonight!"
Just then, the waiter brought over a steak, and Isabella quickly motioned for him to set it in front of Susan.
"Keep running your mouth, and watch your stocks tank even more," Susan shot back.
"Don't, Susan! Please, tell me what to do! I swear, no more teasing today!" Isabella pleaded, holding out her left hand.
"Dump 'em all tomorrow, got it?" Susan said, no-nonsense.
"Is there no chance they'll bounce back? Maybe if they go up a bit, I can break even," Isabella said, looking worried.
Susan shook her head. "If you don't sell tomorrow, they might tank even more."
After a moment of thought, Isabella sighed. "Alright, I'll sell tomorrow."
Seeing Isabella clutch her chest in distress, Susan chuckled. "Come on, not losing much is already a win. Stock trading's just a game; don't take it too seriously."
"Easy for you to say, you've made bank," Isabella shot Susan a look.
Susan got serious. "Honestly, it's dirty money. I swear, if I hit it big, I'll donate this first chunk."
"Are you for real?" Isabella asked, surprised.
"Yep," Susan smiled.
"Well, I don't have your kind heart," Isabella pouted.
That evening, Susan headed home.
Walking into the living room, she saw Seb having a blast with Hayden and Spring.
Seeing him with the kids, Susan felt a mix of emotions.
Standing there, she didn't know whether to join in or just head upstairs and pretend she didn't see them.
Just then, Seb whispered something to Hayden, who then ran over to Susan.
"Mommy, Daddy wants you to play with us," Hayden said, looking up at her.
Susan hesitated, but Hayden grabbed her hand and pulled her over to Seb and Spring.
"What game are we playing?" Spring asked, still struggling with her words.
"Let's play Duck, Duck, Goose," Hayden said, starting to circle around Seb, Susan, and Spring.
Susan and Seb sat facing each other, with Spring in between, fully into the game.
Susan felt a bit uneasy. She had just argued with Seb yesterday, and today he hadn't even texted her. She had her pride and didn't want to be the first to back down.
So, Susan avoided looking directly at Seb, focusing on Spring or watching Hayden, clapping along and singing with them.
"Spring, let's play hide and seek!" Hayden suddenly shouted after finishing Duck, Duck, Goose.
Spring excitedly stood up and chased after Hayden, who teased her, shouting, "Catch me, catch me!"
"Susan?" After what felt like forever, Susan heard Seb's deep, smooth voice.
She turned from watching the kids to look at him.
Meeting Seb's apologetic gaze, Susan bit her lip, unsure of what to say.
"I'm sorry for my attitude yesterday," Seb said, genuinely.
For a second, Susan thought she misheard.
She knew Seb too well; he never apologized or admitted he was wrong.
But now, she saw real sincerity in his eyes, along with regret and a mix of emotions.
Seeing him play happily with the kids had already melted half her anger, and now it was completely gone.
"Actually, my attitude wasn't great yesterday either," Susan admitted.
Her words immediately eased the tension, and Seb asked lightly, "How's your business prep going? Need any financial or network support?"
Susan raised her chin. "What, you're not against it anymore? Didn't you say I didn't need to work and that the family didn't need my 'chump change' income?"
Seb smiled slightly, then grabbed her hand. "That was yesterday; today, I think differently."
"Get outta here!" Susan tried to pull her hand back.
But Seb held on. "I still support your career. As long as you're happy, it doesn't matter if you win or lose."
"Hey, can you shut up? I haven't even started, and you're already jinxing me!" Susan protested.
"My bad, I wish you great success, okay?" Seb quickly corrected himself.
"You're getting more and more unserious," Susan glanced at him, then said, "I don't need your financial or network support, just your moral support. This time, I want to rely on myself!"
Susan made a determined gesture.
"Alright, whatever you say," Seb smiled.
At that moment, Hayden and Spring were running wild around them in the living room.
Susan suddenly asked, "Seb, you said yesterday that your work is super stressful and overwhelming. Is something wrong at the company?"
Seb hesitated, then patted her hand and replied, "Nothing major, just that Prosperity Group is hitting a development wall. Finding new growth points is tough, so I'm anxious."
Susan felt a bit relieved. "A company's path can't always be a straight upward line. There will be long periods of steady development. Don't stress too much."
"I get it," Seb nodded.
"By the way, you've been going to the central district a lot lately. Is something up with your parents?" Susan asked, voicing her doubts.
Even if Carol didn't approve of her and Seb being together, Seb didn't need to go to the central district so often.
Seb had been tight-lipped about the central district stuff, and Susan had held back from asking, but today she couldn't help it.
