Chapter 822 The Unbearable Pain
Susan was taken aback for a moment before she asked, "Does he still trust you now?"
Leon hesitated, then said, "He treats me the same as always, but he's been treating Ellie and you strangely."
"What about Hayden and Spring? He wouldn't forget them, right?" Susan asked urgently.
Leon quickly replied, "Hayden and Spring are Mr. Anderson's beloved kids; he always talks about them."
Susan stood up slowly, pacing back and forth, looking lost.
Leon watched her and said, "I think Mr. Anderson might have forgotten you."
Susan felt a sudden pain in her heart.
Eight years of love, two kids, and their passionate relationship—he had forgotten her so easily. It was incredibly ironic to Susan.
Seeing her sadness, Leon frowned and said, "I know this is hard for you, but I can't think of any other explanation. I've seen everything between you and Mr. Anderson over the years. Before the car accident, he was always thinking about you. I can't find a reason for him to be with Ellie or to ignore you so completely."
Leon's words hit Susan hard. She lowered her head in thought before asking, "Didn't you say everything else was normal? Could it be that he only forgot about me?"
Susan felt extremely distressed and placed her hand over her heart.
"I've looked into some medical literature. There are cases where someone forgets just one thing or one person, but it's very rare," Leon said.
Susan found it hard to believe. Why did he only forget her?
Suddenly, Susan grabbed Leon's arm and urgently said, "Leon, why don't we ask Seb's attending physician about his condition?"
Leon replied seriously, "I tried to inquire about Mr. Anderson's condition, but Ellie said that for safety reasons, the attending physician is not allowed to disclose Mr. Anderson's condition to anyone except Mr. Anderson himself and her. So, I was also turned away by the doctor."
Susan said angrily, "It's Ellie again. I feel like there's definitely something wrong with her. Maybe it's all her conspiracy!"
"But we have no evidence, and now Mr. Anderson trusts her completely. I only handle the work Mr. Anderson assigns me; Ellie controls his personal life," Leon frowned.
"What should we do then? We can't just let Ellie have her way, can we?" Susan said emotionally.
Leon quickly advised, "Ms. Wilson, I know it's hard for you to accept the current situation, but we need to think long-term. I think this matter will be difficult to resolve in the short term. Why don't you settle down first, and we'll think of other ways?"
Susan knew there was no other choice, so she nodded. "Okay."
"The house you used to rent has been vacated. Why don't you stay at Isabella's place for a while?" Leon said, handing a key to Susan.
Seeing the key in Leon's hand, Susan reached out and took it.
"I'll take you there," Leon said.
"Okay," Susan said, following Leon out of the hospital.
As Leon sped down the road, Susan sat in the passenger seat, lost in thought.
Staring out the window at the scenery, Susan felt like she could hardly breathe.
This sudden change made her feel like she was in a bad dream.
Noticing her despondency, Leon said, "I know this is tough, but to fix things, you need to keep your emotions in check. Even if you can't, try to stay calm."
Susan got what he meant and replied, "I understand. Don't worry, I won't let reality beat me."
Leon nodded, maybe believing she could stay calm. Then he asked, "Is Isabella okay?"
Susan's face darkened, but she answered, "Not great. She's got morning sickness every day, feels dizzy and uncomfortable. And that's just the physical stuff. She's also dealing with emotional pain. She just had a baby, and you left her!"
She shot Leon a glare.
Leon's face turned serious, and he stayed silent for a long time.
Susan saw his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, his brows furrowed, and his eyes filled with guilt.
She didn't get it. Leon loved Isabella. Could he really give up Isabella and his kid for wealth and status?
Then Leon suddenly said, "Thank you, Susan. Without you, I don't know if Isabella could have made it through."
Susan frowned. "What's the use of thanking me? Isabella and her kid need you the most right now!"
Leon hesitated before saying, "I also have..."
Susan knew he had made up his mind and wouldn't change it easily, so she cut him off, "If Isabella and her kid don't have you, their future will be tough. Well, you do whatever you want. Everyone has their own choices, and I can't force it."
Leon pursed his lips and said nothing more.
That night, Susan stayed at Isabella's place.
After Leon left, Susan lay on Isabella's bed, feeling the unpredictability of life. It seemed like whenever she was down on her luck, Isabella's big bed was always there for her.
That night, Susan tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
After much thought, she decided to find a way to see Seb's medical records the next day to see if he really had the selective amnesia Leon mentioned.
Early the next morning, Susan rushed to the hospital where Seb was staying.
She found out that Seb's attending physician was a highly respected elder and a leading expert in neurology at the hospital.
She made an appointment with Dr. Thayer Baldwin and had to wait almost the entire morning before it was her turn.
Sitting at the desk of the white-haired Tyrell, Susan saw that despite his age, he was full of energy.
Tyrell smiled and said, "Ma'am, what seems to be the problem?"
