Chapter 764 Arrogance
Hearing this, Hayden and Spring exchanged a glance.
Hayden said sadly, "Daddy, can we skip class this afternoon?"
Seb saw the look in Hayden's eyes and felt heartbroken, but he still hardened his heart and patted Hayden's head. "Be good, Hayden. All the kids have to go to class. I'll play with you after class, okay?"
"Alright," Hayden reluctantly nodded.
"I love Miss Thorne's class the most! I can't wait for it!" Spring suddenly clapped excitedly.
Hayden rolled his eyes at Spring and muttered, "She gave you two candies and a stuffed toy, and you were won over."
"I just like the stuffed toy Miss Thorne gave me," Spring said, lifting her little face.
"Well, I don't like it at all," Hayden said impatiently.
Hearing Hayden and Spring's conversation, Susan frowned and asked, "Spring, did Miss Thorne give you a stuffed toy?"
"Yeah. Miss Thorne often gives me gifts. She also gives them to Hayden, but Hayden doesn't want them," Spring replied.
Hearing this, Susan felt a bit uneasy. Why was Cecilia going to such lengths to win over Hayden and Spring? Then she reminded herself of the generous hourly rate Seb was paying. Cecilia probably didn't want to jeopardize her well-paying gig.
After lunch, Susan and Seb took Hayden and Spring home.
Once home, Susan had Hayden and Spring take a short nap.
After they fell asleep, she went upstairs to her room, only to see Seb half-leaning against the headboard, reaching out to her.
"Come here!"
Hearing this, Susan smiled and walked over.
As soon as she reached the bedside, his large hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms!
"What are you doing? It's broad daylight," Susan said, quickly covering his mouth as he leaned in for a kiss.
"So what if it's broad daylight? We can close the curtains," Seb grinned, showing his white teeth.
Susan, however, said seriously, "Hayden and Spring just fell asleep. Miss Thorne will be here in half an hour to teach. Let's not mess around!"
Hearing this, Seb was disappointed but didn't push her. Instead, he pinched her cheek and said, "I have to go meet some friends in Northstar City. Be good at home, and tonight we'll definitely practice some yoga."
"Get away!" Susan knew exactly what he meant by practicing yoga, and she smiled, pushing him away.
"I'm off." Seb then got up, put on his jacket, kissed Susan on the cheek, and left the villa.
Susan was a bit tired but didn't dare to sleep because Cecilia would be arriving soon, and she needed to wake Hayden and Spring.
At five minutes to two, Susan went downstairs.
At that moment, Mary approached and said, "Ms. Wilson, Miss Thorne just called. She said something came up and she can't make it until three."
Hearing this, Susan frowned.
Since the class was supposed to last three hours, it wouldn't end until six, but at least Hayden and Spring could sleep a bit longer.
Susan then instructed, "Let's have dinner a bit later tonight."
"Okay," Mary nodded.
At two minutes to three, Cecilia arrived at the villa on time.
"Miss Thorne, you're here?" Susan greeted her at the door.
"Hello, Ms. Wilson," Cecilia smiled politely.
Today, Cecilia was wearing a black long coat with a bow at the chest, which made her skin look even brighter.
The black didn't make her look old at all; instead, it highlighted her elegance, and the bow design added a touch of youthfulness.
Cecilia's appearance and demeanor were very outstanding, and Susan admired her, though she found her a bit aloof. And her words, intentional or not, had a way of stinging, like that comment about Seb being Hayden and Spring's true guardian.
But Susan wouldn't hold a grudge against such a young girl. She was just a student, inexperienced in dealing with people.
Moreover, she was Hayden and Spring's tutor and treated them well, so Susan felt she should be more tolerant.
"Hayden and Spring are already waiting for you in the study," Susan said with a smile.
"Okay," Cecilia nodded and changed her shoes before heading to the study.
Susan had intended to chat with her, but it seemed unnecessary.
During the break, Susan personally brought a tray into the study.
"Miss Thorne, I made some pumpkin soup. It's perfect for this chilly weather. Why don't you and the kids have some?" Susan said, placing the bowls of pumpkin soup in front of Cecilia and the children.
Cecilia glanced at the pumpkin soup and said, "Ms. Wilson, pumpkin soup is great for this season, but it's better to have it after class. We only have a five-minute break, and this will take up our time and distract Hayden and Spring."
Susan hadn't expected to hear this. She had just spent over an hour making the pumpkin soup.
But Susan understood the importance of respecting teachers. She looked down at Hayden and Spring, who were enjoying the pumpkin soup. Maybe it really did take up too much of their time, which made her feel a bit anxious.
"Just this once," Cecilia suddenly said as Susan hesitated, unsure whether to take the soup away.
Hearing this, Susan forced a smile. "Then I won't disturb you."
With that, Susan turned and left the study.
Susan hesitated at the study door for a moment, then turned and went upstairs.
At six o'clock, the study door opened, and Hayden came out first, followed by Cecilia, who was holding Spring's hand."Mommy, I'm so hungry." Seeing Susan standing in the living room, Hayden went up and hugged her waist.
Susan patted Hayden's head and smiled, saying, "We'll eat as soon as your daddy gets back."
"Then I'll go wash my hands," Hayden said, running to the bathroom.
At that moment, Spring was holding Cecilia's hand, acting spoiled. "Miss Thorne, can you stay for dinner?"
Spring's big, round eyes looked at Cecilia, full of affection.
Cecilia patted Spring's cheek and smiled. "I have something to do. Maybe next time."
"Oh," Spring said, her eyes filled with disappointment.
"Be good, Spring. I'll make you a craft to play with tomorrow, okay?" Cecilia knelt on one knee, coaxing Spring.
"Okay," Spring immediately smiled.
