Chapter 349 The Scent of Perfume on Him

Seb's face twisted up when he heard that, and he stepped forward, retorting, "Which one of your eyes saw me hanging with some hottie all night?"

Susan turned her head away, but her nose was working overtime trying to catch Seb's scent. She was still a bit too far and could only smell the booze on him.

Even though she didn't catch a whiff of Linda's perfume, she was dead sure Seb had been with Linda tonight!

Seb, even in his drunken state, caught on to Susan's little sniffing act right away.

He reached out, pinned her against the wall, and shoved his neck close to her nose, growling, "Here, take a good whiff and see if you smell any perfume on me!"

Susan winced from his grip and tried to push him away, snapping, "What's your problem? Let go of me!"

"I'll let you go once you figure out my scent," Seb said, pressing her harder against the wall.

Susan was squished so tight she could barely breathe, but she could smell Seb completely now.

Tonight, all Seb reeked of was booze, sweat, and a strong tobacco smell, mixed with his own body odor. No other scent.

For some reason, not smelling any woman's perfume on Seb made Susan even more frustrated. Whether on purpose or not, she took another deep sniff, but indeed no other scent.

Seeing her do that, Seb sneered, "Disappointed, aren't you?"

That made Susan furious. She shoved him away and yelled, "Why would I be disappointed? Whatever you do with any woman is none of my business!"

Gritting her teeth, Susan turned and stormed back to her room.

But just as she took a step, Seb grabbed her wrist and yanked her back. She lost her balance and fell into his broad chest.

"You're jealous," Seb said, pressing her against him, staring at her for a few seconds before he firmly said it.

That hit Susan right in the feels!

"Jealous of you? Keep dreaming!" Susan shot back stubbornly, but inside, she was freaking out.

These past few days, Susan had been on edge and picking fights left and right. Whatever Seb did just rubbed her the wrong way, and she couldn't figure out why she was so moody and irritable.

Turned out she was jealous; she cared about Seb being with Linda!

Even though she got what was going on with her, proud Susan would never admit it. If she did, how could she ever face Seb again?

"You are jealous. You still care about me, still love me. No, you've always loved me; you just don't want to admit it!" Seb's eyes were burning and sharp as he stared at Susan in his arms.

Susan pushed Seb away. Even though she didn't have much confidence, she still sneered, "Are you delusional? I stopped loving you ages ago. You mean nothing to me now!"

Seb stepped closer to her. "Susan, stop lying to me and yourself. You won't fall for anyone else, and I won't be interested in any other woman. We're just wasting time now."

"I haven't fallen for anyone else 'cause I haven't met the right guy yet. And you? When have you ever been faithful? Any woman with a bit of charm catches your eye. Even if you don't have Linda's perfume on you tonight, can you honestly say you weren't with her?" Susan shot back coldly.

Susan was clinging to her fragile self-esteem. Seb was right; she wouldn't fall for another man because she had always loved him, even though admitting it was the last thing she wanted to do. But now, she had to face it.

Susan's words left Seb stunned!

Seeing his expression, Susan's heart sank halfway.

"I..." Seb started to speak.

Susan cut him off without hesitation, "You don't need to say anything. Did I guess right?"

"Susan, it's not what you think. Please, just hear me out, okay?" Seb stepped forward and grabbed Susan's shoulders, looking desperate.

Susan's heart was in turmoil. She pushed Seb's hands away and said sadly, "What's there to explain? This is what I hate most about you. If you did it, just admit it. You know, I used to admire you for being straightforward. Why have you become so hypocritical now?"

With that, Susan gave the stunned Seb a disdainful look, then turned and walked into her bedroom, slamming the door shut.

Susan leaned against the door, closing her eyes in exhaustion.

In the following days, Seb seemed to have vanished into thin air, and Susan didn't see him again.

The pile of clothes and shoes delivered from the department store was put into the first-floor storage room by Kathy.

At first, Susan thought Seb was on a business trip.

But in the following days, Susan noticed that Seb's clothes and shoes had been moved.

One afternoon, Susan was feeding Spring at the dining table.

Kathy came out of the laundry room with a basin of clothes, ready to hang them upstairs.

"Kathy, have lunch first," Susan said.

Kathy shook her head immediately. "No, Mr. Anderson's clothes are made of such fine fabric that they need to be hand-washed and hung out to dry promptly, or they'll get wrinkled."

Hearing this, Susan pursed her lips and said, "Isn't he on a business trip? How come there are clothes to wash every day?"

"Mr. Anderson isn't on a business trip. He comes back every morning to change clothes. You don't see him because you're out taking Hayden to school," Kathy realized she had said too much.

Hearing this, Susan frowned.

Sure enough, Seb was deliberately avoiding her. He must be coming back to change clothes and see Spring while she was out taking Hayden to school.

Because every time Susan came back, Spring would call out "Daddy." It turned out Seb had really been back.

Seeing Susan silent, Kathy felt awkward and said, "I'll go hang the clothes." With that, she turned and went upstairs.

Watching Kathy leave, Susan felt uneasy.

What did Seb mean by this? Was he deliberately avoiding her? Was she now occupying Seb's home, leaving him with nowhere to go?

It seemed she should move out, but looking down at Spring in her arms and thinking about how happy Hayden had been lately, Susan felt a deep sorrow.
