Chapter 912 Can You Calm Down a Bit

Leon stood there like a statue, his deep eyes locked on Isabella.

For some reason, seeing Leon's expression made Isabella feel a bit sad.

The next moment, Isabella lowered her head, took the fruit basket from the little boy's hands, and smiled. "Thanks."

"You're welcome, goodbye." He grinned ear to ear, then turned and ran off.

Looking down at the fruits in the basket, Isabella felt a warmth in her heart.

Even though they could never be together in the future, his feelings now seemed genuine.

Isabella's eyes welled up, then she shook her hair, looked up at Leon with a generous smile, and waved goodbye.

Seeing Isabella wave at him, Leon frowned and waved back at her.

Then, Isabella resolutely turned and walked into the boarding gate, resisting the urge to look back.

Sitting on the plane, Isabella looked at the fruit basket in her hands, tears streaming down her face.

Just now, Isabella regretted this trip to Avaloria, but now she suddenly didn't regret it anymore.

At thirty, this was the first time she fell in love with someone. She had given him her first time, and she didn't regret it at all. At least she wouldn't have any regrets in this life.

As the plane slowly took off, Isabella looked at the blue sky, white clouds, and the distant Avaloria outside the window, thinking, 'Avaloria, goodbye!'

She didn't know if Avaloria was a place of heartbreak or joy for her, but it was definitely a place of memories.

After watching the plane disappear into the blue sky and white clouds, Leon turned to leave.

Unexpectedly, he saw two young men in black suits walking over.

The two men bowed respectfully to Leon and said, "Mr. Johnson."

Seeing them, Leon was extremely annoyed and turned to leave.

Unexpectedly, they immediately blocked his way. "Mr. Johnson, the chairman is ill and wants to see you."

Leon resolutely said, "Come find me when he's dead."

With that, Leon pushed them aside and walked decisively out of the terminal.

The two men looked at each other, their faces full of worry.

After returning to Maple Valley, Isabella got back to her normal life. It seemed like everything was the same as before, but only she knew that her heart was unsettled.

Isabella had never been willing to eat the fruit basket; it was always on the coffee table at home.

Every day after work, she would stare at the fruit basket in a daze for a long time.

A few days later, Isabella's phone suddenly rang.

Isabella picked up the phone and saw it was Susan's number, so she quickly answered.

"Isabella, just letting you know, I'm back from Avaloria." Susan's voice came through immediately from the other end.

Hearing this, Isabella's heart tightened.

Susan was back, which meant Leon was back too.

Quickly, Isabella said, "Back so soon? Why not stay a few more days?"

Actually, Isabella knew how distracted she sounded; she seemed more concerned about Leon being back.

"Seb's work is so busy, I didn't want to delay him any longer. Besides, Hayden and Spring had fun but were a bit unaccustomed to the place. By the way, I'll be looking after them at home for a couple of days before going to the office. You'll have to manage a bit more!" Susan laughed.

Hearing this, Isabella said, "You're newlyweds, spend more time with Seb. Don't worry about the office, I've got it covered."

"I knew you'd say that. That's all, Seb's back." With that, Susan hung up.

After the call ended, Isabella stared at the flashing phone screen for a long time, unable to snap out of it.

Isabella knew she couldn't keep going like this. If she did, she'd never be able to move on.

So, she reached out, opened the fruit basket, grabbed an apple, and took a big bite.

She hadn't wanted to touch the fruit basket because it was loaded with memories. But now, she decided to eat it all, hoping it would help her get over Leon.

The next morning, Isabella woke up late. After a quick wash, she grabbed her bag and rushed downstairs.

Checking her watch, she realized she was going to be late and would need to call a cab.

But as soon as she got downstairs, she saw a luxury car parked at the entrance.

Seeing the car, Isabella instinctively stopped, her heart tightening.

That car belonged to Seb, and Leon usually drove it to pick up and drop off Seb.

Seb couldn't possibly be downstairs at her place, so the person in the car had to be Leon.

Thinking of this, Isabella panicked.

At that moment, the driver's door opened, and Leon, dressed in a suit, got out of the car.

Isabella hadn't expected him to come to her place the day after he returned. 'Why is he here? Is he here to collect a debt? Oh right, I haven't paid him back the $2,200 from our last meal!'

Leon walked up to Isabella with a spirited look and smiled. "Feeling better?"

Hearing this, Isabella's face turned red, and she immediately lowered her head.

Asking such a sensitive question made Isabella recall the awkward scene from that morning.

For a moment, the situation was a bit awkward.

Seeing Isabella not speaking and looking shy and helpless, Leon smiled. Maybe to ease the atmosphere, he quickly said in a teasing tone, "When did you become so shy? This isn't like you. Did a trip to Avaloria change you?"

Hearing this, Isabella looked up and saw the playful smile on Leon's face, and she immediately snapped.

"Leon, why are you here? If you've got something to say, make it quick. I don't want to be late for work." Isabella pushed Leon and turned to leave.

Seeing Isabella so fierce, Leon grabbed her arm and frowned. "You're already late for work."

"I can still make it if I call a cab," Isabella said, raising her chin.

Leon smiled. "At this time, you won't be able to get a cab. I happen to be free now. Get in the car, I'll give you a ride!"

"No, thanks." Isabella immediately refused and tried to shake off Leon's hand.

But Leon held onto Isabella's hand, "What? Afraid to ride in my car?"

Hearing this, Isabella's temper flared up. "What a joke, why would I be afraid to ride in it?"

Seeing that his provocation had worked, Leon smiled, pulled Isabella to the passenger seat, opened the door, and unceremoniously pushed her into the car.

After Isabella got in, Leon closed the door, quickly walked around the car, got into the driver's seat, and, perhaps fearing Isabella would change her mind, quickly stepped on the gas, and the car sped off.

As the car drove off, Isabella saw the sly smile on Leon's face and realized she had been tricked.

"Leon, what do you want?" Isabella's patience was wearing thin.

Leon, focused on driving, glanced at Isabella and said patiently, "Can't you calm down a bit? You're always in such a hurry."
