Chapter 644 Shock

Rylee rushed to the hospital. Gavin, a kind soul unfamiliar with the complexities of hospitals, was utterly lost.

Rylee first paid the hospital fees, then consulted with doctors and specialists to understand the situation, and finally decided to proceed with surgery for Anouk immediately.

The surgery was very successful. Since Rylee had been pampered from a young age, and Gavin was a rather careless man, Rylee hired a caregiver for Anouk. After taking care of everything, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Anouk lay in the private ward Rylee had arranged for her, with a caregiver by her side. She gratefully said, "Rylee, thanks to you this time!"

"Mom, it's what I should do. Andrew is on a business trip in Skyhaven and won't be back for a while. As his wife, of course, I have to take good care of you!" Rylee replied with a smile.

In Rylee's heart, she had great respect for Gavin and Anouk, as they were the parents of the person she loved most.

Anouk nodded with satisfaction and said, "Andrew is so lucky to have married you!"

Gavin quickly added, "Rylee, you should go home and rest. You stayed up all night, and you have dark circles under your eyes."

"Gavin, give Rylee the house keys," Anouk said to Gavin. Then, turning to Rylee, she added, "Once you've had some rest, you should head back to Maple Valley. There's no need for you to stay here."

At this point, Rylee was indeed exhausted. She wasn't used to such hardships.

So, the next moment, Rylee took the keys from Gavin's hand and said with a smile, "Dad, Mom, I'll go rest for a bit and come back later."

"Alright, alright," Gavin and Anouk nodded quickly.

Rylee drove back to Andrew's parents' house.

Andrew's parents lived in a four-room house. Although it wasn't luxurious, they kept it very clean and tidy.

Rylee rested in the room Andrew used to stay in. Andrew was their only child, so his room had remained untouched since he went to college.

Lying in this simple yet cozy room, Rylee felt a surge of happiness. This was where he had grown up, where he had slept all those years ago. A wave of virtuous satisfaction washed over her.

Rylee thought she had done something very meaningful. She felt like a virtuous wife and decided not to call Andrew for the next couple of days. She wanted to surprise him by showing that she had handled everything on her own. She was sure he would praise her for being capable and considerate.

Thinking about this, Rylee happily fell asleep.

Rylee was awakened by the chirping of birds.

Opening her eyes, she saw that the clock on the wall showed it was already 3 PM. She stretched and got out of bed.

After a simple wash, Rylee stood in Andrew's old room, looking around.

A simple bed, a bookshelf, a desk—she ran her fingers over the furniture.

Suddenly, her eyes fell on a locked drawer in the desk.

Seeing the locked drawer, Rylee frowned. She thought, 'This room belongs to Andrew, and his parents rarely come in here. They wouldn't keep their things here. What could he possibly have under lock and key?'

Rylee tried to recall the last time Andrew brought her here. It seemed that the drawer wasn't locked then.

Curiosity got the better of her, and she felt she had to find out what was inside.

She started searching the room for the key to the drawer. She knew Andrew wouldn't keep the key with him since he rarely came back here, which would be inconvenient.

Rylee searched everywhere and finally found a key in a corner of the bookshelf.

Excited, she quickly tried the key on the drawer's lock.

Sure enough, the lock opened. This was the key to the drawer.

As she reached to open the drawer, Rylee felt a bit excited, wondering what Andrew had hidden inside.

The next moment, Rylee saw a notebook inside the drawer.

She suspiciously took out the notebook and opened the first page. Suddenly, a thick piece of paper fell out.

Looking down, she saw a photo on the floor, but it was face down, so she couldn't see what was on it.

Frowning, Rylee bent down to pick up the photo.

When she turned the photo over and saw the person in it, her eyes widened in disbelief.

Susan? Although Susan looked a bit chubby and youthful in the photo, Rylee recognized her immediately!

Why did Andrew have a photo of Susan? Why was it locked in the drawer? What was going on? Did they have a secret relationship?

Feeling extremely anxious, Rylee's mind went blank, and she quickly started flipping through the notebook.

It turned out to be a diary. Rylee recognized Andrew's handwriting immediately. Judging by the dates, the diary was almost ten years old.

Half an hour later, after reading through the diary, Rylee's hand trembled, and the diary fell to the floor. She almost fainted.

It turned out that Andrew and Susan were first loves. The diary showed that they had loved each other very purely back then.

Andrew truly loved Susan; otherwise, he wouldn't have detailed every moment of their relationship in the diary.

And she, Rylee, was the third party who had intruded into their relationship. The diary ended abruptly on the day she met Andrew.

Rylee had fallen in love with Andrew at first sight. They had started dating just two days after meeting, and it was Rylee who had pursued Andrew.

From the diary, Rylee saw no signs of any issues in Andrew and Susan's relationship. Did he fall out of love with Susan and fall for her instead after meeting her?

Rylee's mind was in a whirl. She couldn't believe that Andrew and Susan were first loves and had pretended not to know each other in front of everyone. They were quite the actors.

Even with her simple thinking, Rylee felt that this situation was definitely not simple.

The next moment, she bent down to pick up the diary from the floor. As she accidentally flipped to the last page, a line of text immediately caught her attention.

[Hope that one day, when I make something of myself, you'll still be waiting for me.]
