Chapter 1027 Hospitalization
Leon stared at Milo for a bit before finally letting go of his chubby little hand. He got out of bed slowly, but his eyes never left the sleeping baby.
Then, Leon turned to Isabella and said, "Listen, wait until Milo's a year old before you go back to work."
Isabella suddenly burst into tears.
Leon was at a loss. He wanted to step forward and wipe her tears, but his hand froze in mid-air, afraid he'd mess things up even more.
But then, Isabella stepped forward, grabbed his sleeve, and cried, "Leon, for the love we once had, please agree to divorce me. Don't fight me for Milo's custody. You can see him anytime you want, every day if you like, just don't take him away from me, okay?"
When Milo was nursing, Isabella's strength and pride crumbled.
She and Milo were one. Without him, she couldn't survive.
Isabella knew Leon's status had changed. If he wanted, she couldn't win the custody battle. So now, she could only beg Leon. For Milo's sake, she didn't care about her pride anymore.
Seeing Isabella's pitiful crying, Leon's heart softened. He frowned and said, "How many times do I have to tell you, I won't divorce you, and I won't fight you for Milo's custody either!"
Isabella let go of his sleeve and said excitedly, "Then what do you want? To be with Bronte and me at the same time? Leon, I'm not the kind of woman who can endure that. Don't even think about it!"
"When did I ever get with Bronte? I just want to be with you and live a happy life together," Leon argued.
Isabella sneered. "You still won't admit what's going on between you and Bronte, huh? Do I have to catch you two in the act? I..."
At this point, Isabella suddenly staggered and couldn't stand.
Leon stepped forward to support her and asked nervously, "What's wrong?"
"None of your business!" Isabella tried to push him away but couldn't muster any strength. She felt cold and in pain all over, then hugged herself with her arms.
"Isabella?" Leon held her and touched her forehead, shocked.
Her forehead was burning hot. She had a fever.
"You have a fever. I'm taking you to the hospital!" Leon bent down and carried her in his arms.
"Leave me alone, let go." Isabella was already limp, barely able to speak, feeling her consciousness fading.
Leon carried her out of the bedroom. Kathy heard the commotion and quickly came over. "What's wrong with Mrs. Johnson?"
"She has a fever. I'm taking her to the hospital. Watch Milo," Leon said urgently.
"Okay, Mrs. Johnson has been weaning Milo and said her breast hurt. It must be mastitis causing the fever!" Kathy said nervously.
Hearing this, Leon frowned and said, "From now on, without my permission, you are not to help her wean Milo!"
After that, Leon turned and quickly walked out the door.
Kathy stood there, dumbfounded, not sure who to listen to.
Isabella felt like she had slept forever, feeling exhausted and not wanting to wake up.
After what seemed like ages, she slowly opened her eyes.
"You're awake?" A familiar face greeted her.
Seeing Isabella awake, Leon held her hand, a joyful smile on his face.
Isabella frowned and pulled her hand away from his grasp.
"What happened to me?" She looked up and saw she was hooked up to an IV drip, and everything around her was white. She was clearly in a hospital.
"You have acute mastitis and need IV antibiotics," Leon answered with a frown.
Isabella realized her breast did indeed hurt.
Leon continued, "You tried to wean Milo too quickly, causing him distress and giving yourself acute mastitis. Now both of you are suffering."
Isabella turned her face away and frowned. "How many days of IV treatment do I need before I can be discharged?"
"At least five days," Leon replied.
Isabella immediately tried to get up. "What?"
"What are you trying to do?" Leon asked urgently.
"I can't stay in the hospital that long. I need to go back to take care of Milo, and I promised that advertising company I'd start work next Monday," Isabella said anxiously.
Leon's face darkened. "What are you thinking? Your health is poor, and you're still worried about work? Focus on getting better, then go home and take care of Milo. Don't think about anything else!"
"My affairs are none of your business," Isabella said weakly.
Looking at Isabella's pale face, Leon didn't continue arguing. Instead, he said, "I'll call Susan to come and stay with you. No matter what, get well first, and then we'll discuss everything else."
"If you stop bothering me, I'll recover faster. If you agree to the divorce now, I might get better immediately!" Isabella glanced at Leon.
Leon pursed his lips and then said, "Fine, I won't show up for the next few days. You focus on getting better!"
He picked up his suit, took a deep look at Isabella lying on the hospital bed, and then turned and left the ward.
Long after Leon left, the ward was quiet. Isabella couldn't help but frown, wondering, 'Why is Leon so obedient this time? I tell him to leave, and he really leaves.'
Thinking about her words, they were hurtful, but what he did was worse, so she didn't care.
About half an hour later, Susan rushed in with a bunch of stuff.
"Isabella, how did you suddenly get acute mastitis?" This was Susan's first question when she reached Isabella's bedside.
"I was weaning Milo and accidentally ended up like this," Isabella answered with a frown.
"Eat more fruits and vegetables. I've had this illness too. You need to rest peacefully, avoid getting angry, and don't rush," Susan said as she took out various fruits from the bag and advised.
