Chapter 834 Cold and Distant
"I get it!" Dean shouted, grinning ear to ear when he heard Seb was gonna sign the contract without changing a thing.
Seb turned and walked out, leaning on his cane.
As he passed Susan, he shot her a look full of disdain.
Susan couldn't handle his stare and looked down.
Seb kept walking, with Leon right behind him, while Susan just stood there, stunned.
After a few steps, Seb glanced back and saw Susan still at the door. He snapped, "You planning to embarrass yourself here?"
Susan quickly followed him.
In the elevator, Seb's face was dark, and he didn't say a word.
Leon stood next to him, too scared to speak.
Susan stayed in the corner, avoiding Seb's eyes.
Thankfully, the elevator soon hit the first floor.
Leon quickly said, "I'll get the car!"
He dashed out of the elevator.
Susan didn't dare to leave first. She waited until Seb, leaning on his cane, walked out before trailing behind him.
Outside the hotel lobby, the early summer night breeze was still a bit chilly.
Susan pulled her suit jacket tighter.
Suddenly, Seb turned around, and Susan, with her head down, almost bumped into him.
She looked up at him and said, "I knew you'd come to save me!"
Seb's eyes went cold. "You willingly debase yourself; you deserve it."
"I just..." Susan started.
Seb cut her off, "You just wanted to test my feelings for you, right?"
Susan was speechless.
He saw right through her.
"I just wanted you to remember me and our past," Susan murmured.
Seb smirked. "What you did only reminds me of your frivolity and lack of self-respect."
Susan took a step back, feeling deeply hurt.
Seb glanced at the towering, brightly lit Hilton Hotel behind him and said with extreme sarcasm, "Isn't our first meeting just like today?"
"What do you mean by that?" Susan tilted her head, staring at him in the night.
His expression and gaze were full of disdain and sarcasm.
"Don't you get it? You can check into a hotel with any guy on your first meeting? I've met many women, but I've never seen one as wild as you. The fact that I had two kids with a woman like you shows I must be crazy!" Seb said with a bitter smile.
Seb's words made Susan lose it. In her grief and anger, she shouted, "Yes, you had two kids with me, and we've been entangled, married, divorced, and remarried several times over eight years. During those eight years, you kept loving and hating me, and wanted to spend your life with me. It was just a car accident that made you forget me and our past." By this point, Susan was in tears, overwhelmed with pain.
Seb looked at Susan, tears streaming down her face, and his brows furrowed. After a moment of hesitation, he turned away and said coldly, "Looks like you regret it too. Same here."
Susan stared at him, shocked.
"If we both regret it, maybe it's time to let go and stop hurting each other," Seb said, turning and walking away with his cane.
Susan panicked.
She hadn't forgotten why she was trying so hard to get close to him. She quickly ran in front of Seb, blocking his path.
Seb stopped, his eyes cold as ice.
Susan met his gaze, speaking earnestly, "Seb, if you remembered me, you wouldn't say that. You once told me that without me, you were just a walking corpse, and with me, your life had meaning. Don't you remember any of that?"
Seb stared into Susan's passionate eyes, suddenly feeling dizzy.
"What's wrong?" Susan stepped forward, reaching out to support Seb's arm.
Seb felt a dizzy spell, then stared blankly at Susan's face for several seconds.
"Do you have a headache? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Susan asked, concerned.
The next moment, Seb stood up straight and pushed Susan's hand away.
Susan stumbled back a step, frowning at him.
Seb then said, "I came here today only because you are Hayden and Spring's mother. I don't want them to resent me in the future. I have no feelings for you anymore. Please don't come looking for me again because I already have someone I love, and I don't want to make her sad!"
Hearing such heartless words, Susan was left in tears.
She turned her face away, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, and said with a cold smile, "The person you love is actually me. Don't listen to Ellie's nonsense; she's deceiving you!"
Seb immediately became furious, pointing at Susan and warning, "Susan, Ellie is the most important person to me. I don't want to hear you slander her again. If you do, don't blame me for being rude!"
Susan took a step back, staring blankly at Seb, her heart aching, her face full of sorrow.
He was now thinking about another woman, and that feeling made Susan feel unbearable pain.
At that moment, Leon drove up and stopped in front of Seb.
Leon got out of the car and, seeing Seb and Susan's expressions, knew that Susan had been no progress.
Leon silently opened the back door, and Seb got into the car without hesitation.
Seeing this, Leon had no choice but to close the door.
As Leon turned to get into the car, he said to the dazed Susan, "Ms. Wilson, be careful on your way back!"
Susan, lost in her immense pain, didn't respond to Leon's words at all.
Leon then got into the car helplessly.
The car drove out of the parking lot the next moment.
Susan stood in the cool breeze for a long time, but at least she had a suit jacket filled with his scent to keep her company.
After walking in the night for a long time, the dejected Susan regained her fighting spirit.
She wouldn't give up; she would keep doing everything she could to make him remember that she was the one he loved the most.
