Chapter 712 Irresponsible

On the weekend, Susan took Hayden and Spring to an indoor playground. The kids had a great time, and Susan thoroughly enjoyed her time with them.

Of course, they were accompanied by several bodyguards the entire time, as Seb and Susan were worried about any potential accidents.

In the evening, Kathy prepared a large table of dishes, and Seb, Susan, and the kids had a warm and cozy dinner together.

At nine o'clock, Susan put Hayden and Spring to bed.

The night outside was deep, the living room was very quiet, and the lighting was soft.

After leaving Hayden's room, Susan saw Seb stand up from the sofa and walk towards her.

"Are the kids asleep?" Seb glanced at the bedroom door.

"Yes." Susan nodded.

"The procedures for the kids to go to Aelistania are almost done. I've booked their flight for next Wednesday," Seb said, hesitating for a moment as he looked at Susan.

"So soon?" Susan frowned upon hearing this.

Thinking that she might not see Hayden and Spring for a long time, Susan felt a pang of breathlessness.

Seeing the conflict in Susan's eyes, Seb placed a hand on her shoulder and comforted her, "The sooner the kids leave, the more at ease we'll be. If you really miss them, you can visit them in Aelistania later. But I don't think they'll stay there for too long. Besides, the air there is much better than here, which is beneficial for their growth."

Susan knew he was trying to comfort her. Sending the kids away was indeed the best arrangement, and she didn't want to trouble him any further.

So, the next moment, Susan forced a smile and said, "With all the technology we have, I can practically talk to them every day. Don't worry, Seb, I'll be fine."

"That's good." Seb nodded.

Susan glanced at the window, the night outside now a deep, inky black. "It's getting late. I should be going." She turned to grab her purse from the coffee table.

At that moment, Susan suddenly felt a pair of large hands wrap around her waist from behind, causing her to frown.

Seb leaned in, his deep voice whispering in Susan's ear, "It's already very late. Why not stay the night?"

Hearing this, Susan hesitated.

Looking around at the home filled with warmth and memories, Susan felt a bit resistant.

It wasn't that she didn't want to stay, not exactly. It was more that she was afraid of getting too comfortable, of slipping back into the familiar patterns of their life together.

They might share a bed occasionally now, but they weren't living together. Staying the night would inevitably lead to another night, and another, until she was back to living under his roof. It would be like the divorce had never happened.

She knew that she and Seb couldn't completely cut ties for a while, but she also knew they couldn't live like they used to as a married couple. She didn't know what the final outcome would be, but she didn't want to give herself too much hope. She couldn't bear the thought of getting her hopes up, only to have them dashed again. She wasn't sure her heart could take another blow.

At this moment, Susan forced a smile and said, "No, tomorrow is Monday, and I have to go to work. I have some documents at home."

"Don't you want to spend more time with the kids?" Seb's deep, magnetic voice resonated in the night.

Hearing this, Susan smiled and said, "The kids are already asleep. I'll come over after work tomorrow to spend time with them."

Seeing her determination, Seb released her waist, walked to the coat rack, and took down a cashmere coat. "I'll take you home!"

"No need, it's already late. You have to work tomorrow. I'll just call a cab," Susan said, not wanting him to lose sleep.

But Seb seemed not to hear Susan's words. He put on his coat, wrapped his arm around Susan's shoulders, and started walking out with her!

"I said you don't need to take me home," Susan said, unable to stop walking as he held her.

Seb didn't allow any objections. As he opened the car door, he said, "It's so late. I'm worried you might run into trouble."

Susan sat in the passenger seat and, through the glass, saw him walk around the car. She thought to herself, 'You're probably the biggest troublemaker!'

Ten o'clock wasn't actually that late. Maple Valley's nightlife was just beginning, with its bright lights and vibrant atmosphere.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Susan suddenly asked, "Seb, I need a favor."

Hearing this, Seb chuckled and said, "Since when did you become so polite? That's not like you."

"I'm being serious!" Susan emphasized with a frown.

"I'm more serious now than ever," Seb laughed.

Susan then said, "Isabella and Leon have been dating for a while now, and their relationship is great. But why doesn't Leon seem to have any intention of marrying Isabella?"

Hearing this, Seb frowned slightly before laughing and saying, "Do you think all men are like me, eager to get married?"

"I'm talking about Leon, not you," Susan said angrily.

"I don't know. Maybe some men don't want the constraints of a family? After all, having a so-called wife means less freedom," Seb analyzed.

"You're really enjoying the divorced life, aren't you?" Susan glanced sideways at Seb.

"We were talking about Leon. How did it come back to me?" Seb said, feeling wronged.

"You men are all the same—irresponsible," Susan said through gritted teeth.

"What grudge do you have against men to make you so resentful?" Seb shook his head.

The next moment, Susan instructed, "Hey, find a chance to ask Leon. But don't let him know I asked you to. Just bring it up casually in conversation, okay? Don't make it seem like Isabella is pushing for marriage."

"I got it," Seb replied, drawing out his words.

Seeing him agree, Susan smiled.

Soon, the car stopped in front of Susan's apartment building.

"Bye! Be careful on your way back," Susan said as she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

As Susan turned to enter the apartment building, she saw Seb also get out of the car and follow her.

Susan turned and smiled at him, saying, "I'm home now. It's safe here. You can go back."

She waved at Seb as she spoke.

Seb smiled and waved back.

The next moment, Susan walked to the elevator and pressed the button. The elevator doors opened.

As Susan stepped into the elevator, a figure followed her in.
