Chapter 1203 Hide
Seeing the pain in Daryl's eyes, Cecilia cupped his face with her hands and said with a pained expression, "Daryl, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have accepted Barry back then. I shouldn't have been so weak-willed."
"No, it's not your fault. It's me who hurt you too deeply. You have the right to accept anyone's feelings. It's my fault for finding you too late," Daryl said, his tone filled with regret and remorse.
"It's not your fault. You have your reasons," Cecilia said, caressing Daryl's gaunt face.
He then held her tightly in his arms as they poured out their hearts to each other.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open from the outside.
Douglas rushed in and said urgently, "Mr. Fields, your mother, and Miss Tate are here!"
Both Daryl and Cecilia were taken aback.
Immediately, Cecilia said, "Then I'll leave now."
Douglas frowned and said, "It's too late, they're already in the hallway and will be here any moment. Miss Thorne, why don't you hide in the restroom for now?"
Douglas then opened the bathroom door.
"Alright," Cecilia agreed, not wanting to face Daryl's mother and Skylar, as it would only complicate things.
"Cecilia, I'm sorry to put you through this," Daryl said, holding Cecilia's hand, his face full of apology.
Cecilia gave Daryl a long look but said nothing, then turned and hid in the bathroom.
Hiding behind the bathroom door, Cecilia frowned. She thought, 'Didn't he and Skylar already break off their engagement? Why is she still coming to the hospital? Isn't it said that the Fields family and the Tate family are already at odds?'
The door was pushed open.
Azalea and Skylar walked in one after the other.
"Daryl, look who came to see you?" Azalea said with a smile as she walked to the bedside.
Daryl was already sitting on the bed. He glanced at Skylar standing behind Azalea and couldn't help but frown. "Skylar, aren't you in Starlight City?"
Before Skylar could speak, Azalea quickly said, "Skylar heard about your car accident, so she hurriedly took a flight back to see you. Look how much she cares about you."
Skylar smiled and said, "Daryl, I happened to have some business in Maple Valley. When I heard about your car accident, I was very worried, so I came with Azalea to see you. I hope you recover soon!"
With that, Skylar handed a bouquet of flowers to Douglas, who took them.
"Thank you," Daryl said, but only in a flat tone.
The atmosphere in the room became a bit awkward.
Azalea quickly said, "Douglas, have you completed Daryl's discharge procedures?"
"Mrs. Fields, it's all done," Douglas quickly replied.
Azalea then said, "That's great. Daryl, let's go home together. I've already asked the cook to prepare some dishes to lift your spirits and to welcome Skylar. Skylar, you must stay for lunch today."
Daryl remained silent.
Skylar glanced at Daryl's expressionless face and politely declined with a smile, "Azalea, I have something to do today. Maybe another time."
"Why wait for another time? It's been so long since we last met. I really miss you," Azalea said warmly, taking Skylar's hand.
"Azalea, I really have something to do today," Skylar insisted.
Azalea wanted to say more, but Daryl interjected, "Mom, if Skylar has something to do, don't force her."
Skylar looked disappointed, while Azalea gave Daryl a helpless look and smiled at Skylar, "Skylar, you must come to our house for dinner another day, okay?"
"I will," Skylar nodded with a smile.
Daryl glanced at Azalea's polite interaction with Skylar and then instructed Douglas, "Since Skylar has something to do, Douglas, please see her out."
Skylar felt awkward, and Azalea quietly complained to Daryl, "Skylar said she didn't have time for lunch, but she didn't say she didn't have time to chat with me."
Daryl's face darkened.
Skylar looked at Daryl and smiled, "Azalea, I really have something to do. I can't chat with you now. I'll visit you another day. I have to go now!"
"Then let Douglas see you out," Azalea quickly said.
Skylar then turned and left the room, with Douglas following her.
Cecilia, hiding in the bathroom, heard everything that was said outside.
Although she couldn't see their expressions, she roughly understood the situation.
Azalea was still trying to match Daryl and Skylar, and Skylar was still infatuated with Daryl. But Daryl was very cold towards Skylar, to the point of being almost unkind.
Cecilia didn't know whether to feel relieved. Daryl was right; he didn't love Skylar. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so cold to her. But what did it matter if he still loved her? She couldn't be with him anymore.
Cecilia thought sadly, She wished Daryl and Skylar could love each other, so she wouldn't have to worry about Daryl being alone in the future.
After Skylar and Douglas left, Azalea complained to Daryl, "Daryl, why are you so cold to Skylar? She's a girl who took a flight for over ten hours from Starlight City to see you. You're too much!"
Daryl frowned and said, "Mom, it's impossible between Skylar and me. You'd better not give her false hope. That would truly hurt her."
But Azalea didn't agree. "Daryl, you and Skylar are a perfect match, well-suited in every way. I just don't understand why you don't like Skylar. I really hope she can be my daughter-in-law. We've had a lot of conflicts with the Tate family over the past six months. Although you've handled it well, it has still affected the Fields Group. If you could turn back now, everything would still be possible!"
"Mom, it's impossible between Skylar and me. You'd better give up on this idea. And don't interact with Skylar anymore. If Skylar becomes emotionally unstable again, the Tate family will hold us accountable. You'll regret it then!" Seeing Azalea's persistence, Daryl had to explain the serious consequences to her.
"I don't know what you're thinking," Azalea said, clearly unhappy.
Douglas returned after seeing Skylar out.
"Mrs. Fields, Mr. Fields, the discharge procedures are all done. Shall we leave now?" Douglas asked deliberately.
Cecilia was still in the restroom. If Azalea didn't leave, she couldn't come out.
