Chapter 1209 Breakup

Seeing Skylar throw herself into his arms, Daryl immediately pushed her away and said, "Skylar, I'm fine."

He took off his sunglasses and walked over to Azalea and Isaac, apologizing, "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry."

Azalea couldn't hold back anymore. She stepped forward, grabbed Daryl's arm, and asked, "Daryl, where did you go? Are you hurt? You scared us."

Seeing Azalea crying, Daryl handed his sunglasses to Douglas beside him, then patted Azalea's shoulder and comforted her, "Mom, I had planned to go on vacation with a friend to Skyhaven, but my friend had something come up last minute. I didn't want to go alone, so I went to a friend's suburban villa for a few days. My phone accidentally fell into the water, and I switched to my backup phone this morning. I had no idea there would be a plane crash, making you all worry!"

As he said the last sentence, Daryl glanced around at his friends and family, his eyes unintentionally landing on where Cecilia and Barry were standing.

His gaze only lingered on them for a moment before he quickly looked away.

Azalea quickly said, "Your friend was really wise, practically saving your life. Do you know the plane caught fire after the emergency landing and many people died? I thought you..."

Seeing Azalea start crying again, Isaac sternly said, "Daryl is back safe. This is a huge relief. Why are you still crying?"

"Right, right," Azalea said.

Cecilia turned to Barry and said, "Barry, shall we go?"

"Okay," Barry nodded.

They left the airport together.

Seeing Daryl return safely, Cecilia felt content. She no longer cared about who he was with or his relationship with Skylar.

A while later, Daryl helped Azalea towards the exit of the terminal, glancing at where Cecilia had been standing, only to find that she was no longer there.

Barry escorted Cecilia upstairs, helped her sit on the couch, and then quickly went to the kitchen to pour a cup of hot water. Handing it to her, he said, "Have some water; you don't look well."

Taking the cup, she placed it on the coffee table, then looked up at him and apologized, "Barry, I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing?" he asked, staring at her on the couch.

She then stood up, took his hand, and said gently, "Because of Daryl, I know I've lost my composure these past few days. But I didn't mean anything by it. Please believe me, I won't have anything to do with Daryl anymore. I'll just be your girlfriend!"

Looking into her sincere eyes, he smiled slightly and suddenly said, "Cecilia, I think it's better if we just stay friends."

She stared at him in disbelief and asked, "Barry, are you mad at me? Please forgive me. I know it's all my fault, I..."

But Barry interrupted her, holding her hand seriously, "Cecilia, I'm not mad, nor am I being petty. I'm serious. All this time, even though you've been with me, your heart has always been with Daryl. I haven't seen a truly happy smile on your face. Even when you do smile, it's half-forced. Am I wrong?"

Cecilia was stunned!

So he understood all along. Cecilia thought she could hide it from him.

But Barry suddenly breaking up with her was too much for Cecilia to handle.

Barry then smiled and said, "Cecilia, I like you, but I don't want to force you. If we force ourselves to be together, we won't be happy. Don't you agree?"

"Yes," Cecilia said, lowering her head.

She knew Barry must be very hurt to break up with her, but she didn't know how to comfort him. Cecilia felt very guilty. Why couldn't she feel genuine happiness with Barry?

Barry then let go of Cecilia's hand, looked at her, and said, "Actually, when I was driving you back from the suburbs, I had already made up my mind. If Daryl didn't make it back, I would take care of you for the rest of your life, even though a part of your heart would always belong to him. If Daryl came back safely, I would let go because you love him, and I can see that he loves you too. Two people who love each other should be together!"

Her eyes welled up with tears.

Barry was too kind, always thinking of her, while she could never repay him and only made him sad.

Seeing the tears on her cheeks, Barry frowned slightly, his eyes showing a hint of pain. He then carefully wiped away her tears with his thumb.

"Don't cry. I don't want to see you cry. I like seeing you smile. Do you know how beautiful you look when you smile? Your eyes light up like crescent moons. I'll never forget the first time I saw you smile!" Barry's words were sad but very sincere.

Cecilia tried her best to put on a happy smile, though her eyelashes were still wet with tears.

Seeing her smile, he smiled back, feeling relieved.

Cecilia suddenly threw herself into his arms.

He held her tightly in his arms.

But this hug had nothing to do with romantic feelings.

Cecilia's feelings for Barry were too complicated—gratitude, guilt, and now deep emotion. He was so considerate of her. People say love is selfish, but he was so generous, something she couldn't even do herself.

Barry gently pushed her shoulders and said, "Cecilia, take good care of yourself. No matter what happens between you and Daryl, I will support you!"

"Okay," Cecilia nodded with tears in her eyes.

Barry then turned and left.

Cecilia watched his departing figure, tears streaming down her face.

After Barry left, Cecilia lay on her bed, clutching her phone, wanting to call Daryl immediately.

But she thought Daryl must be with his family right now, so she decided to put her phone aside.

Feeling sleepy, Cecilia closed her eyes.
