Chapter 344 Immunity

Susan wanted to shove Seb away, but his arms were locked around her waist like a vice, making it impossible for her to even budge.

Right then, she noticed Seb's brows were all scrunched up, and his eyes looked like he was struggling with something.

Susan couldn't help but get a bit ticked off. Was holding her really that much of a hassle for him? If so, why the heck was he still clinging to her?

"Let go of me right now!" she snapped, her voice dripping with anger.

"It's you who won't let go of me, okay?" Seb's deep, raspy voice whispered in her ear.

It was only then that Susan realized her hands were still gripping Seb's tie around his neck like a lifeline.

Her face turned beet red, and she quickly let go of the tie.

Seb's strong arms released her too, and she immediately took a couple of steps back. They had been so close just now that she felt she might have brushed against something hard, though she wasn't sure if it was just her imagination.

Seb lowered his head and coughed a few times.

Hearing him cough, Susan thought with a smirk, 'I should've squeezed harder.'

Seeing Seb's half-smiling expression, Susan turned her head and said, "I'm going back to my room."

With that, she quickly left Seb's bedroom.

Back in her own room, sitting on the edge of the bed, Susan touched her burning cheeks. She saw her phone and frowned. She had gone to borrow a phone charger, but it turned out to be a wasted trip. Frustrated, she leaned back and flopped onto the soft bed.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Susan quickly got up from the bed and called out.

"I have to go out for a bit. Don't wait for me for dinner; I might be back late," Seb's deep voice came from outside.

Hearing this, Susan was stunned for a moment, then quickly responded loudly, "Got it."

The door was locked; she didn't want Seb barging in. She touched her cheek, which still felt like it was on fire.

Then, she heard footsteps gradually moving away. Only when she could no longer hear Seb's footsteps did she breathe a sigh of relief.

Susan ran to the window, hid behind the curtain, and peeked outside. She saw Seb in a white shirt getting into the black Bentley, and soon it drove away.

Knowing Seb had left, Susan's heart finally calmed down.

At this moment, Susan cursed herself in her heart. Why was she so useless? She had just moved into his house, and her heart was already in turmoil again.

After glancing down at her phone, Susan left her bedroom, gently pushed open Seb's bedroom door, and walked in.

After searching for a while, she finally found a charger in the bedside table. She quickly plugged in her phone. While it was charging, Susan noticed Seb's shirt, which had her snot and tears on it, by the bed. She frowned, then picked up the shirt and went to the bathroom to wash it.

After washing and hanging the shirt, her phone finally turned on. Susan quickly called Isabella.

"Isabella." As soon as the call connected, Susan called out.

But Isabella cut her off, "Susan, I'm so sorry! I had to jet off on a business trip for a week. Left in such a rush, I totally forgot to tell you!"

Susan frowned. "A week?"

She had been counting on Isabella to bring her some clothes and essentials. With those people still lurking outside, Susan didn't dare to go back herself.

"Where are you now? How's everything going?" Isabella asked, sounding worried.

Susan sighed and replied, "I'm at Seb's place. He said he'd handle everything."

Isabella sounded thrilled. "That's awesome! The mess you're in this time is pretty serious, and it's not something small fries like us can handle. So, lean on Seb. With him helping you, I won't worry. I'll be at ease on my trip. Bye!"

Before Susan could get another word in, Isabella hung up.

"Hello?" Susan stared at the phone screen, frustrated. "I need help right now, okay?"

After mulling it over, Susan couldn't come up with a better plan. She decided to lay low for a few days until the heat from the Skyreach Group died down, then she'd go back to get her stuff.

When Spring woke up and saw Susan, she was over the moon. Hayden, who was picked up from preschool by Mary, was even more pumped to see Susan staying there temporarily.

That evening, Kathy whipped up a feast, with many of Susan's favorite dishes.

Honestly, since Susan started working at Pioneer Accounting Firm, she had been swamped every day, juggling the online store and taking care of Spring. Although she cooked tasty meals, she rarely made such a lavish spread, so she ended up eating a lot more than usual.

"Kathy, your cooking is still top-notch like before, and you remember all my favorites. Thanks a ton!" Susan said after eating, not forgetting to show her appreciation.

Kathy smiled modestly. "I've been cooking for decades; it always tastes the same. Don't thank me; thank Mr. Anderson. He asked me to make all these dishes."

Susan looked at the leftovers on the table, stunned. Seb actually remembered all her favorite foods. Her heart was a whirlwind of emotions.

Seeing Susan go quiet, Kathy quickly added, "Ms. Wilson, I've got your toiletries ready, but I haven't had time to buy pajamas and stuff."

"I'll hit the department store myself tomorrow morning," Susan decided. She'd rather buy some essentials than risk going home to get them.

Kathy smiled. "Ms. Wilson, no need. Mr. Anderson already ordered everything from the department store. They couldn't deliver today, but they'll send someone first thing in the morning."

Susan nodded, feeling a mix of gratitude and confusion.

This Seb, he really thought of everything, didn't he?

No wonder so many women were into him. Seb was cold on the outside, rich, handsome, and considerate. He really knew how to win a woman's heart.

But she couldn't fall for Seb again just for these things. She was immune to all this.
