Chapter 1192 Forced Forgetting

Cecilia awkwardly lowered her head, hesitated for a moment, then looked up again and said, "I just came by to check on things."

"Oh." Douglas felt a bit disappointed.

Then, Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "How is he doing?"

Douglas quickly replied, "His condition is very stable. The doctor said he could be discharged in two days, but he needs to maintain a regular lifestyle, get plenty of rest, and recuperate."

"But I saw him still looking at documents. You need to persuade him to take care of his health," Cecilia said with a frown.

Douglas replied, "Miss Thorne, I'm just Mr. Fields' subordinate. My persuasion can only go so far. I think if you spoke to him, he would listen."

Cecilia firmly shook her head and said, "I'm not in a position to persuade him right now. You do your best."

Douglas remained silent.

"By the way, the interview draft is ready. I've sent it to your email. Please show it to him."

"Okay." Douglas nodded.

"I'm heading out now. Please don't tell him I was here." With that, Cecilia turned and left decisively.

The interview draft had been ready two days ago, but Cecilia deliberately held off on sending it to Douglas because she knew that once the draft was out, Daryl would read it. He was still sick, and she was afraid it would tire him out. But he continued to review documents every day, causing her heart to ache.

Two days later, after much hesitation, Cecilia sent a text message to Douglas, asking if Daryl had been discharged.

Douglas quickly replied, saying that Daryl had been discharged and that she shouldn't worry.

Upon receiving this news, Cecilia let out a sigh of relief. In the following days, she threw herself into her work to keep her mind occupied.

That afternoon, Cecilia's phone suddenly rang.

Cecilia picked up the phone and saw it was Barry calling.

She immediately answered the call. "Barry?"

"Cecilia, I just got back from a business trip abroad and I'm craving Mexican food. Are you free tonight? Want to join me?" Barry's cheerful voice came through the phone.

Barry's cheerful voice lifted Cecilia's spirits, which had been down for days. She had indeed been feeling quite miserable lately, almost to the point of a mental breakdown.

Cecilia smiled and replied, "Sure."

Barry was thrilled and quickly set a time and place.

After work that day, Cecilia organized her documents and then left with her bag.

As soon as she stepped out of the office building, she saw Barry's car parked by the roadside.

Seeing Cecilia, Barry waved at her.

Cecilia happily waved back and quickly walked over.

After getting into the car, Barry drove off.

As Barry's car sped away, the atmosphere in another car parked by the roadside became tense.

Douglas sat in the driver's seat, glanced back at Daryl in the back seat, and didn't dare say anything.

After being discharged, Daryl had almost fully recovered. That day, he couldn't suppress his longing for Cecilia any longer, so he had Douglas drive him to her office building to wait for her.

Of course, waiting like this was just to catch a glimpse of her from a distance; he couldn't do anything else.

Several times, Cecilia's attitude had been very firm. Daryl knew he couldn't force her. Now, he could only watch her from a distance.

However, Daryl saw Barry's car parked at the entrance of the office building.

Seeing Barry made himl uneasy. Soon, his worst fears were confirmed when Cecilia appeared and got into Barry's car. They drove off together, chatting and laughing.

Daryl knew they were probably going out to eat. As for what they would do after dinner, he could only imagine.

Douglas noticed that Daryl's face had turned ashen, and his hands were clenched into fists. He didn't dare make a sound.

An hour later, Cecilia and Barry were eating happily at a Mexican restaurant.

"It's been so long since I had Mexican food. It's so delicious!" Cecilia said, laughing as she took big bites.

Lately, she had been working so hard that she hadn't had a decent meal.

"You seem to have lost weight recently, and you don't look well. Is the work pressure too much? It seems my mother has been too strict with you," Barry said, looking closely at her.

Cecilia touched her face and quickly shook her head. "Seraphine is kind to me. I've just been working too hard lately."

"Working hard is important, but you also need to take care of your health," Barry said, looking at Cecilia with concern.

"I understand!" Cecilia said with a smile.

The two of them continued chatting and laughing, enjoying a pleasant evening.

After dinner, Cecilia invited Barry to a movie, and he gladly accepted.

After the movie, it was almost midnight, and Barry drove Cecilia home.

Barry parked the car in front of Cecilia's apartment building, looked up at the building, and joked, "When will you invite me up for a cup of coffee?"

Cecilia hesitated for a moment before saying, "I don't have any coffee at home. I'll invite you up next time after I buy some."

"Alright." Barry was surprisingly pleased with this answer.

Cecilia then got out of the car, waved at Barry, and went upstairs.

Seeing the light come on in her apartment, Barry drove away.

After Barry's car left, a figure emerged from a corner.

A tall figure cast a long shadow in the moonlight. Daryl's face was filled with deep disappointment, and his eyes were full of pain.

He looked up sadly at the bright light in the window before slowly leaving.

After that day, Cecilia and Barry frequently had meals and watched movies together, and their relationship quickly deepened, though they hadn't confessed their feelings.

One day, Cecilia suddenly received a bouquet of red roses. Marcella saw it and immediately pulled her into the break room for some gossip.

"I just saw the card on that bouquet. It said 'Barry'. So you two..." Marcella paused, looking at Cecilia with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Don't talk nonsense. There's nothing between Barry and me," Cecilia quickly denied.

"Nothing, and he sends you red roses? Don't lie to me." Marcella demanded with a smirk.
