Chapter 875 Worry

Susan dropped her head, thinking for a bit before saying, "Is Prosperity Group's stock all over the place too?"

The slightest hint of trouble sent public companies' stock prices plummeting.

Cecilia chuckled, "You nailed it. Lately, Prosperity Group's stock has been on a wild ride, like a roller coaster. Shareholders are up in arms, investors are ticked off, so Seb postponed the wedding. Makes sense, right? Who's in the mood for a wedding with all that chaos? Plus, tying the knot now would just give people more to gossip about."

Hearing this, Susan thought, 'Looks like Seb and Ellie didn't get married because of all this drama. Seb really cares about Ellie; he probably wants everything to be perfect for her. Given the mess right now, postponing the wedding is the smart move.'

But instead of feeling happy, Susan felt even more down. Every big decision Seb made now seemed to be all about keeping Ellie happy.

"Susan?" Cecilia called softly, seeing Susan lost in thought.

Susan looked up, a bit dazed.

Cecilia, noticing Susan's low mood, smiled and said, "You've had a long trip. Why don't you go upstairs and take a shower? Hayden and Spring will be back from school soon. I promised to teach them piano today. You can rest a bit and come down later. Isabella's got a bunch of fresh ingredients, and when Kathy gets back, she'll whip up some dishes. We're in for a good meal."

Cecilia kept smiling, trying to lift the heavy mood.

Susan got the hint and nodded, "Alright, thanks."

She headed upstairs, her mind still racing.

After a hot shower and changing into comfy clothes, Susan still felt uneasy.

She decided to call Leon, hoping to get some answers.

Susan was sure someone was setting Leon up, and she had a hunch it was Ellie. Ellie hated Leon for helping her get close to Seb, and Leon couldn't stand Ellie's shady tactics. They'd been at each other's throats since she was in Maple Valley.

Now that Ellie was about to marry Seb, she probably wanted to take Leon down, maybe even ruin him.

But Leon's phone was off.

Susan frowned but figured it made sense. With everything Leon was dealing with, he probably didn't want to be reachable. He was likely laying low.

Staring at her phone, Susan decided to call Dorothy.

"Susan, finally! I've been worried sick since I couldn't reach you," Dorothy's voice came through, full of concern.

Susan explained, "I was in the estate in Zandoria had no signal, so I couldn't get in touch."

"Now that you're in Northstar City, it's all good," Dorothy laughed.

"By the way, what happened with Leon?" Susan asked urgently.

Dorothy replied, "Word around Maple Valley is that Leon took bribes from a rival company and got reported, causing Prosperity Group to take a big hit. The stock's tanked, and no one can get ahold of Leon, so his whereabouts are a mystery."

Susan was left speechless.

But she knew Leon would never betray Prosperity Group, let alone Seb. This had to be a setup.

Dorothy continued, "Susan, Seb and Ellie's wedding is on hold indefinitely. With Prosperity Group's stock all over the place, they're not tying the knot anytime soon. Do you want to come back to Maple Valley? Maybe there's still a chance."

Susan smiled, "I've decided to move on, so I'm not looking back. Their wedding's postponed because of external stuff, not because of any issues between them."

"Are you really okay with that?" Dorothy asked.

Susan frowned, "Whether I'm okay with it or not, it doesn't change anything. Dorothy, let's just focus on our own lives. Take good care of the firm; this could be your big break."

"Susan, don't worry. I'll give it my all. I still owe you for the firm's transfer," Dorothy laughed.

"Money can wait; building a good reputation is key. Alright, I won't keep you. Goodbye." Susan, not in the mood to chat, hung up.

After hanging up, Susan sat by the bed, feeling lost.

After a while, she heard Hayden and Spring coming home from school downstairs.

She couldn't hold back her longing for them any longer and immediately got up and went out.

She decided to stop worrying about Maple Valley. Her focus now was to take care of the kids and help Isabella with her pregnancy.

A few days later, one afternoon, Hayden and Spring were at school, and Isabella was napping. Susan went out with a basket to buy groceries.

Today was exam day for Hayden and Spring, and they had a holiday tomorrow. So Susan decided to cook a big meal to reward them and, of course, invite Cecilia.

As she walked out with the basket, she looked ahead absentmindedly.

Leon was still unreachable. Susan thought about calling Seb to plead for Leon.

But after thinking it over, she realized it was pointless. Seb wouldn't believe Leon was innocent just because she said so, and Seb had already done what he could to protect Leon. Another call wouldn't change anything.

Just then, Susan looked up and saw a familiar figure ahead.

She stopped in her tracks, her eyes fixed on the handsome face about 60 feet away.

Susan was stunned.

She didn't know how he ended up here, only that his gaze was locked on her.

Panicking, she looked around. There were no other pedestrians, and it was clear he was alone.

Just as she was about to drop the basket in her panic, the man ahead took a deep look at her and walked over.

A moment later, he stood in front of Susan, smiling. He glanced at the basket on her wrist and asked, "Going grocery shopping?"
