Chapter 595 Distraught
Seeing Isabella, Susan threw herself into her arms without any regard for her image.
"What's wrong with you? Don't scare me like that!" Isabella had never seen Susan so distraught and was very worried.
"I divorced Seb," Susan replied, still holding onto Isabella.
Hearing this, Isabella pushed Susan away in shock. "What? When did this happen? Is it because of what Carol said before she died?"
At this moment, Susan tried to control her emotions. She needed someone to confide in; she wasn't that strong.
"Let's go over there and talk," Susan said, turning towards a nearby bench and sitting down.
Isabella sat down beside her, listening in silence with concern.
Susan wiped her nose with a tissue and said, "He can't face me at all right now. If we don't divorce, he'll feel guilty for the rest of his life. I don't want to see him sad, so I initiated the divorce."
Hearing this, Isabella said, "But won't you be sad after the divorce? What will you do in the future?"
Forcing a smile, Susan said, "I'll be fine. I'm strong, remember? Do you think I can't live without him?"
"Yes, you will," Isabella said bluntly.
Susan gave Isabella a shove. "Can't you encourage me a little? You're always saying such discouraging things."
"I'm just being honest," Isabella said, curling her lips. "Actually, you just love him too deeply. And sometimes, loving someone means putting their needs first, even if it destroys you."
"Maybe," Susan said, looking at Isabella.
At that moment, Susan's phone rang.
She took out her phone and saw it was Leon's number.
After hesitating for a moment, Susan answered the call.
"Ms. Wilson, haven't you arrived at the lawyer's office yet? The lawyer is waiting for you," Leon said, addressing Susan with a different name.
Hearing this, Susan looked around.
She had promised Seb to go to his lawyer's office to sign the papers. Why had she come to the accounting firm instead?
Then Susan said, "I have something to do today, so I won't be going."
She didn't want to accept those gifted properties anyway; she had only agreed last night because she had no other choice.
However, Leon said, "If you have something to attend to, please feel free to take care of it first. The lawyer said he will wait for you. That's all, goodbye."
With that, Leon hung up the phone.
"Hello?" Susan said into the phone, but Leon had already hung up.
"What's going on?" Isabella asked, looking at Susan.
"It was Leon," Susan replied.
Hearing this name, Isabella felt a bit strange and asked, "What does he want from you?"
"Seb wants to transfer some properties to my name and asked me to go to the lawyer to sign the papers," Susan answered calmly.
Hearing this, Isabella laughed and said, "Seb still has a conscience, knowing to give you some assets."
"I don't want his assets," Susan said, frowning.
Since their remarriage, she and Seb had only focused on their feelings. The divorce was also because she understood his difficulties. Susan didn't want their feelings to be mixed with other things.
Isabella couldn't help but say, "Are you crazy? He's giving you assets, and you don't want them. He'll definitely get married again in the future, and then you won't get a penny. Even if you don't want it for yourself, you can save it for your kids. The world changes so quickly; who knows what will happen in the future? Besides, taking these assets is just a drop in the bucket for Seb; it won't affect him at all."
At that moment, Susan received a text message.
She opened it and frowned.
The lawyer: [Ms. Wilson, I'm Mr. Anderson's lawyer. If you don't come to sign the papers, I'll bring the agreement to your office.]
Seeing this message, Susan knew it must be Seb's idea.
Susan knew she couldn't afford to offend him. Thinking about what Isabella said, she realized she could save it for the kids in the future.
So, the next moment, Susan replied with a text: [I'll be there soon.]
Then Susan stood up.
Seeing Susan suddenly stand up, Isabella frowned and asked, "Where are you going?"
"Taking your advice, I'm going to accept the gifted properties," Susan said, picking up her bag.
"That's more like it," Isabella said with a smile.
Susan took a few steps and then turned back, saying, "I'm not going to the office today; I need to go back and pack my things."
"Are you homeless again? It's okay, I can take you in. After all, you're a rich woman now," Isabella said with a smile, standing up.
Susan said, "I've already found a place. I'll move in later."
"Do you need help?" Isabella called out.
Susan waved her hand at Isabella as she walked away.
Susan went to the lawyer's office and signed the gift agreement.
Then she hurried back to the villa. Seeing Spring, Susan couldn't bear to leave her.
She spent most of the day with her until she fell asleep in the afternoon.
While she was sleeping, Susan took her suitcases and left.
Kathy and Mary were very surprised and kept asking where she was going.
Susan calmly told them that she and Seb had divorced. Kathy and Mary were shocked.
Susan asked them to take good care of the kids and said she would visit often. Kathy and Mary couldn't stop her and had tears in their eyes.
After giving Spring a kiss on her little face, Susan finally dragged her two large suitcases and left the villa behind.
At her new rented place, Susan started cleaning. She couldn't let herself be idle because if she did, she would think of Seb, Hayden, and Spring. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to resist going back to them.
Susan knew the first few days after moving out would be especially tough. She just had to get through these days, and she would probably get used to it.
Susan kept cleaning until midnight. Only when she was utterly exhausted did she finally collapse onto the bed.
Since she hadn't slept much the previous night, Susan quickly fell asleep.
When she opened her eyes again, it was already nine in the morning.
Susan didn't have time to eat and quickly got dressed for work.
She worked all day at the accounting firm and took unfinished cases home to work on at night.
For three days straight, Susan kept herself busy like this.
She worked until she was so tired that she fell asleep as soon as she lay down. This method worked well; after a few days, she had already gotten used to living alone.
It wasn't until five days later that she went back to visit Hayden and Spring.
Hayden greeted her with a hug, but Spring clung to her and wouldn't let go.
Susan had to wait until she fell asleep to sneak away.
That feeling was truly unbearable.
