Chapter 334 Don't Cry

Spring's doll got snatched, and she started bawling her eyes out. Susan, all annoyed, snapped, "Quit crying!"

But Spring, being a little kid and all, just kept wailing and throwing a fit.

Linda, seeing the whole scene, got up and strolled over to Susan with a smile. "Hey, Susan, if she loves the doll, just let her have it. No need to make her cry."

Linda then bent down, grabbed the doll off the floor, and handed it back to Spring, who instantly stopped crying.

Susan, fuming, yanked the doll from Spring and shoved it at Linda. "You can't spoil kids like that, or they'll just get worse!"

Linda, seeing Susan's pissed-off face, decided to keep quiet.

Susan carried Spring past the couch where Seb was chilling. Seb glanced at the crying Spring in Susan's arms, his face all dark and brooding.

As they walked by, Spring spotted Seb and reached out, crying, "Daddy."

Seb looked uneasy, but Susan kept walking straight to the foyer.

Susan squatted down to change her shoes, and Spring kept crying, still calling for Seb. Frustrated, Susan snapped, "If you don't stop crying, I won't want you anymore. Go to your daddy!"

Even though Spring was little, she got the message. She loved when Susan picked her up every day. Now, scared by Susan's anger, she stopped crying and watched Susan change her shoes with big, scared eyes.

Seb, frowning, yelled, "Kathy!"

"Coming, coming!" Kathy, who was bringing out coffee, rushed over to Seb.

Seb barked, "Make a few more dishes tonight. Ms. Ward's staying for dinner. Make it a feast; she's my special guest!"

Kathy looked shocked.

"Didn't you hear me? Get moving!" Seb's voice boomed.

"Yes, sir." Kathy hurried off to get things ready.

Linda, being sharp, picked up on the vibe.

She smiled and said, "Mr. Anderson, you're too kind. Just a simple meal is fine."

Linda didn't refuse. Dining with Seb was a rare chance, and who knew what might happen after dinner.

"Call me Seb from now on," Seb suddenly said.

Linda was stunned, thinking she misheard. She'd tried everything to get close to Seb before, but he always kept her at arm's length.

Seizing the moment, Linda smiled and said, "Seb."

Meanwhile, in the foyer, Susan finished changing her shoes, but her legs felt like they were made of lead, unable to move.

She heard the whole exchange between Seb and Linda, especially Seb's words, which hit her hard.

Susan thought she could brush it off, but in fact, she was wrong. Seeing Seb all into someone else made her heart hurt in ways she didn't expect.

"Mommy," Spring tugged at Susan's pants, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Susan looked down at Spring's tear-streaked face and felt a pang of sadness. She scooped up Spring and walked out of the villa.

As they strolled down the street, Susan's mind kept replaying Seb's words about making a feast for Linda. They'd probably have a blast tonight, and who knew what else might go down.

"Mommy," Spring called again, touching Susan's face with her tiny hands.

Seeing Spring's big, round eyes filled with a hint of fear, Susan felt a wave of regret. She'd lost her cool earlier, but it wasn't Spring's fault. Why did she take it out on her?

Susan touched Spring's face and said, "Spring, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm really sorry!"

Tears started rolling down Susan's cheeks.

Spring, seeing her mom cry, used her chubby little hands to wipe away the tears and said, "Don't cry."

"Spring," Susan said, touched by how sweet and understanding her little girl was. She quickly wiped her tears away. She didn't want to cry in front of Spring. She needed to be strong for her kids.

The next morning, Fiona called Susan and Elliott into her office.

They sat side by side in front of Fiona's desk. Susan was puzzled about why they were both called in.

Fiona placed a document in front of them, smiling. "This is a big deal, the budget proposal for Skyreach Group for next year. Skyreach is huge in the industry. Linda handed this project to our team, and we need to nail it. I'll be overseeing it personally. Elliott, you're in charge, and Susan, you'll assist him. Any objections?"

"No," Elliott said right away.

"No," Susan echoed, though she had her doubts.

Honestly, she didn't want to work with Elliott. He'd been behaving lately, but that didn't mean he wouldn't cause trouble later.

But work was work; she couldn't refuse.

"You need to take this project seriously and come up with a complete plan within two weeks. If you run into any issues, come to me. Also, put aside any personal beef. You're here to work, not to fight. If you nail this project, I'll ask Linda for a raise for you," Fiona said.

Elliott and Susan both nodded and left Fiona's office separately.

After work that day, when most colleagues had left, Elliott suddenly walked up to Susan, who was packing up to leave.

Susan looked up at him, her guard up, not sure what he was planning.
