Chapter 249 Throwing a Tantrum

Seb clutched his chest as he slid into the back seat. Just as Leon was about to shut the door, he noticed the blood on Seb's chest and asked, "Mr. Anderson, are you hurt?"

"It's nothing, just a scratch," Seb replied casually.

Despite Seb's nonchalance, Leon saw the wound was deep and suggested, "How about we hit the hospital for some bandaging?"

"No need, take me home," Seb ordered.

Leon frowned but didn't argue. He hopped in the car, and they sped off to Seb's place.

Once home, Seb took off his jacket and carefully removed his shirt.

Leon saw the deep wound on Seb's shoulder, still bleeding. He quickly grabbed the first aid kit and started cleaning it.

Seb sat there, expressionless. Even when Leon used alcohol to disinfect the wound, Seb didn't flinch. Maybe the real pain was in his heart.

After about ten minutes, Leon finished bandaging and asked, "Mr. Anderson, weren't you going to explain things with Hayden to Ms. Wilson? How did this happen?"

After tossing and turning all night, Seb couldn't get Susan out of his mind.Who cared if Susan was with George currently? She misunderstood him and didn't know the whole story. Seb was sure she still loved him.

Thus, Seb made up his mind to track her down and explain everything about Hayden. He was confident that once she understood, she'd return to him.

Seb, a man of pride, refused to resort to using Hayden as a pawn to lure Susan back; he yearned for her to return of her own wish. But this time, Seb found himself in a state of unrest. Whether it was for the child or other reasons, as long as Susan returned to him and Hayden, he was willing to set aside his calm demeanor.

However, when he went to see Susan today, her hatred was too deep. She wouldn't listen, leading to this mess.

Seb regretted losing control today.

When Susan talked about her time with George, jealousy clouded Seb's mind, and he hurt her again. Now, he wanted to punch himself. Why did he always lose control around Susan?

"Mr. Anderson?" Leon frowned, noticing Seb's unusual mood.

"I need some space. You can go now." Seb waved him off.

"Yes, sir." Leon hesitated but then left.

After Leon left, Seb lit a cigarette and took a few deep drags, trying to vent his emotions.

Just then, the door opened, and Hayden ran in.

"Daddy!" Hayden rushed to Seb's side.

Seeing Hayden, Seb quickly put out the cigarette. Hayden had just been discharged from the hospital and couldn't stand the smell of smoke.

"You smoked again. You broke your promise." Hayden caught Seb red-handed.

Seb patted Hayden's head and said, "I had a craving today and couldn't resist, so I took a small puff."

"Then I'll let it slide this time." Hayden's eyes sparkled.

Hayden noticed the bandage on Seb's shoulder and asked, "Daddy, how did you get hurt?"

"It's nothing. I ran into a crazy woman today," Seb fibbed.

"Why didn't you call the police if a crazy woman hurt you?" Hayden blinked at him.

"Because that crazy woman happens to have an adorable little daughter. If I called the police, her daughter would be left without a mother.," Seb improvised.

Hayden nodded. "Daddy, you did the right thing!"

Then Hayden pushed Seb's leg and asked, "Daddy, didn't you say you were going to bring Mommy back today?"

Seb's face froze. He patted Hayden's head and said, "Mommy has to take care of your sister. She'll come see you in a few days."

"Mommy is so biased. She never comes to see me." Hayden pouted.

Seb tenderly patted Hayden's head and said, "Your sister is too young and needs your mom. You're already a man and can take care of yourself. Plus, I can take care of you too, and so can Mary, right?"

"Yes, I am a man!" Hayden flexed his arm.

"Good boy!" Seb smiled, though it was tinged with bitterness.

Since Hayden could talk, he had been asking why he didn't have a mom like other kids.

Seb told Hayden that Susan was taking care of Spring and would be back soon. Hayden believed him and had been waiting.

Especially when Hayden was sick in the hospital, he always asked about Susan. Seb told him many stories about her, and Hayden remembered them all.

Seb had promised that Susan would be back when Hayden was discharged, but he broke his promise. He didn't bring Susan back for Hayden.

Seeing the sensible Hayden, Seb felt a pang of sorrow.

Meanwhile, Susan returned home with two large bags of groceries. Serenity was in a hurry to get home, so Susan let her go after she got back.

Spring was very fussy tonight. Susan fed her alone, but Spring wouldn't eat properly and even threw her toys. Susan was already in a bad mood and couldn't help but scold Spring, who then cried in grievance.

Seeing Spring's tearful face, Susan felt terrible. She hugged Spring and started crying too.

Although Spring was not yet a year old and couldn't talk, she seemed to understand and reached out to wipe Susan's tears.

Spring's gesture made Susan feel both heartbroken and comforted. Comforted that Spring was so considerate at such a young age, and heartbroken by her own years of hardship.

After seeing Susan cry, Spring stopped fussing. She finished her meal obediently and drifted off to sleep before nine.

When George came home after nine, Susan was already lying in bed, nursing Spring.

Hearing George's footsteps, Susan instinctively pulled her collar down.
