Chapter 554 I Want Her
That evening, Carol called Seb over.
In the living room, Carol looked at Seb with a serious expression and said, "Seb, I mentioned something to you last time, and you said you'd think about it. It's been several days now. Have you made up your mind?"
Hearing this, Seb's face darkened, and he didn't speak for a long time.
Andrew and Rylee, sitting nearby, exchanged puzzled glances, not knowing what Carol had asked of Seb.
"Seb, I am asking you a question. Did you hear me?" Seeing that Seb hadn't responded for a while, Carol urged.
At this point, Seb finally looked up and said firmly, "Mom, Rylee is here, and Andrew is family too, so I don't mind saying this openly. Rylee and I grew up in a broken home; you and Dad were constantly arguing. Sometimes, because you were both busy with work, you wouldn't see each other for ten days or half a month. It affected me, made me cynical about relationships. It wasn't until I met Susan that my perspective on marriage changed. Now, I'm very happy with Susan, and we have two lovely children. I don't want to divorce Susan, and I can't divorce her. I want to give Hayden and Spring a complete family."
Hearing this, Carol impatiently said, "Alright, you don't need to say anymore. I understand what you mean. You just don't want to divorce Susan, right?"
Carol's voice was sharp, and her expression was very unpleasant.
"Mom, Susan's mom is her mom, and she is herself. That matter has nothing to do with her!" Seb explained patiently.
"Nothing to do with her? Hmph, I think you've been bewitched by her. Those mother and daughter pair—one seduced your dad, and the other is seducing you. It's all part of their calculated plan. Their goal is to take over our Anderson family and Prosperity Group. In the future, they will have the final say in the Anderson family and Prosperity Group!" Carol said emotionally.
"Mom, that's not fair!" Seb protested. "Susan's not like that, and her mother doesn't have some grand plan to destroy our family. You're letting your hurt and anger cloud your judgment."
Before Seb could continue, Rylee anxiously spoke up for Carol, "Seb, you've been blinded. Susan is really not a good person. She came to our family to sow discord. You should listen to Mom and divorce that woman. With her as a mother, Hayden and Spring won't be raised well."
Hearing this, Seb stared at Rylee in surprise and asked, "Rylee, haven't you always liked Susan? Why has your attitude changed so drastically? Did she offend you, or are you influenced by Mom's attitude?"
"Neither! This is my own personal feeling. She even... even tried to sow discord between Andrew and me. I..." Rylee, being a straightforward person, blurted out.
At this point, Seb's eyes sharply focused on Rylee.
Andrew quickly tugged on Rylee's sleeve and interrupted with a smile, "Seb, Rylee is a straightforward person. She says what's on her mind. Don't blame her!"
"Rylee, tell me clearly, how did Susan offend you?" Seb pressed.
"I..." Rylee glanced at Andrew and then stammered, unable to speak.
She and Andrew had previously agreed not to tell the family about her uterine abnormality and inability to have children. The family was already in chaos, and they didn't want to add more burden. They had decided to adopt a child and tell everyone it was Rylee's, to avoid affecting their relationship with the child. So, her infertility had to be kept a secret.
"Seb, it's just some trivial matters between women," Andrew answered for Rylee.
Rylee quickly agreed, "Yes, just some trivial matters between us!"
Hearing this, Seb frowned and said, "If it's such a small matter, why are you judging her so harshly, especially when she's your own sister-in-law? Rylee, I expect you to treat Susan with respect. I don't want to hear you refer to her as 'that woman' ever again."
"I..." Rylee pouted after being reprimanded by Seb.
At this point, Carol, who had been holding back, sternly said, "Seb, are you saying that you'll side with Susan and her mom in the future?"
Seeing Carol's aggressive demeanor, Seb quickly said, "Mom, you're my mother. How could I side with them? Her mom was indeed wrong, terribly wrong, so she doesn't deserve my respect. But Susan is Susan. I hope you don't confuse the two!"
Hearing this, Carol looked at Seb with great disappointment and sneered, "Well, I have to say I admire Susan and her mother. They've managed to charm both my husband and my son. Fine, since you and Todd are so stubborn, I have no choice. I'm going to change my will!"
Carol's words stunned Andrew, Rylee, and Seb.
Carol continued, "My previous will was for you to inherit all the shares of Prosperity Group, and Rylee to inherit some real holdings and other assets. However, since you've chosen to disobey me, I'll be instructing the lawyer to make some changes. You and Rylee will now inherit the Prosperity Group shares equally. As for the real estate and other assets, those will go to Rylee, since she and Andrew will be the ones looking after me in my old age."
Hearing this, Andrew appeared calm on the surface, but his heart was in turmoil.
Rylee frowned and said, "Mom, Seb is just confused for a moment. Why change the will? Even if you change it, I don't want it!"
Andrew frowned slightly at Rylee's words.
Carol coldly said, "I can give my things to whoever I want. You keep quiet!"
Seb looked at Carol and Rylee and calmly said, "Rylee, if Mom wants to leave it to you, don't object. Just follow Mom's arrangements."
"Seb, you..." Rylee looked at Seb in confusion.
Rylee felt Seb was truly confused. For the sake of Susan, he was willing to give up shares and the company. It was simply unbelievable.
Carol saw this and became even angrier. Clenching her fists, she said, "Hmph, it seems you're really determined. For the sake of that woman, you're willing to give up everything. I don't want to see you anymore. Don't come here again!"
