Chapter 1020 Moving Out
When Leon heard that, his face turned stormy. "No way I'm divorcing you. Don't even think about it, and definitely don't bring it up again!"
He wiped his mouth with a napkin, stood up, and said, "I'm in a rush, gotta go!"
Isabella, seeing he wouldn't even talk about it, jumped up and called after him as he walked away. "Hold it right there!"
Leon froze, stopping in his tracks but not turning around.
Isabella stared at his back, her voice firm. "Fine, if you won't talk, I'm still getting this divorce!"
Leon paused, then spun around, his eyes locked on hers. "Let me make this clear: I will never divorce you. Don't get any crazy ideas. Taking care of Milo and yourself is what matters!"
Isabella felt a wave of helplessness. "Leon, what are you thinking? You like Bronte, fine, I'll make it happen. I'll divorce you. Isn't that what she wants? What more do you want from me?"
Leon’s face stayed blank, his eyes fixed on her. "You're the only one who can be my wife. No one else should even dream about it!"
With that, he turned and walked away quickly.
"Leon!" Isabella shouted, but he was already out the door.
Isabella slumped back into her chair, fuming. She couldn't figure out what Leon wanted. Did he really think he could have a wife at home and a mistress on the side?
She clenched her fists, vowing she wouldn't put up with this humiliation.
As soon as Leon left, Isabella went out too.
She found a decent apartment, bought some appliances, furniture, and other essentials, then went back to pack her things.
That night, Isabella moved out with Milo and Kathy.
Around nine o'clock, her phone rang.
Without even checking the caller ID, she knew it was Leon.
Thinking about how he'd react when he found out she and Milo were gone, she felt a sense of satisfaction.
The phone rang a few more times before she calmly picked it up.
"Where are you and Milo? Why is everything gone?" Leon's voice was frantic.
For some reason, hearing his anxiety made Isabella feel good. She didn't know if it was revenge; she just knew she had to do something or she'd lose it.
She replied coldly, "I found a new place and moved out with Milo. Leon, I wasn't kidding about the divorce this morning. I'm serious. You can disagree, but my lawyer will be in touch."
Isabella had made up her mind. She wanted a quick divorce. Staying in that house with Leon would drive her insane. So she found a place and moved out today, no matter what.
Leon was silent for a moment, then suddenly yelled, "I will never divorce you!"
And with that, he hung up.
Staring at the still-flashing screen, Isabella's eyes drifted to the sleeping Milo.
The satisfaction she felt earlier had morphed into a deep sadness.
She knew that for Milo's sake, she shouldn't be asking for a divorce right now.
She should be like many women who marry into wealthy families, enduring humiliation and burdens to give her child and herself a complete home.. Plenty of rich wives lived like this, and in the end, they even had to thank their cheating husbands for not abandoning them and giving them some semblance of dignity.
But Isabella couldn't do it. If she kept this up, she'd lose her mind.
She knew Leon meant what he said; he definitely wouldn't divorce her. But she didn't want to drag it out with him. She wanted a peaceful life, even if it meant a future full of hardships and endless loneliness.
So, she had no choice but to find a lawyer. She called Alfonso but insisted he find her a different lawyer. Her case was simple; she wouldn't fight for property, just wanted out of this bad marriage quickly.
Soon, the lawyer's letter landed on Leon's desk.
Leon stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, smoke curling up from his fingers as he took a few hard puffs now and then.
A knock came at the office door.
"Come in," Leon said, not turning around.
The door opened, and a woman in high heels walked in, exuding charm.
The strong perfume told Leon exactly who it was without needing to turn around.
Bronte walked to the center of the office, her eyes scanning Leon's desk, her face lighting up with joy.
Leon turned around, extinguishing his cigarette in the ashtray, and said coldly, "Are you happy now?"
Bronte quickly hid her smug look, walked up to Leon with a smile, and placed her hand on his chest. "What are you talking about? I'm just as surprised. I didn't expect Isabella to be so strong-willed. I think she's asking for a divorce now to get a large sum of money, right?"
"Isabella's not like that." Leon turned and sat on a single guest sofa, avoiding Bronte's touch.
Bronte followed him, saying, "After all, she gave you a son. It's only right to give her some money."
Leon covered his eyes with his hand, tiredly saying, "It's fine. I just want to be alone for a while."
Bronte, surprisingly obedient, said, "I know you're in a bad mood, so I won't bother you. Take a good rest. I'll have the secretary push back your appointments by half an hour."
Leon just nodded.
Bronte left the CEO's office.
After she was gone, Leon looked up, frowning at the closed door.
Susan was the first to know that Isabella had moved out and quickly came to her rented place.
As soon as Susan sat down, she looked around and frowned. "Why didn't you tell me you were moving out? If Kathy hadn't told me, I'd still be in the dark!"
Isabella smiled at Susan's complaint. "With Kathy taking care of me, Milo and I are doing just fine."
