Chapter 779 Difficulties

"Daryl, I've already broken up with you. You have no right to say these things to me!" Daryl Fields's words immediately drove Cecilia mad.

At this moment, Daryl reached out and grabbed Cecilia's shoulders, his emotions very agitated. "Cecilia, you were always so proud, so dignified. How can you let yourself do this? You've always condemned the idea of women compromising themselves for material gains. Are you really ready to abandon all your principles just so your brother can get married?"

Hearing Daryl's words, Cecilia was already in tears.

She looked at Daryl sadly, then frantically pushed his hand off her shoulder and shouted, "Daryl, it's easy for you to say—to have self-respect, to be proud and noble. You haven't had to struggle the way I have. I've been fighting through life, through school, always pushing forward. But I've hit a wall. I can't do it anymore."

"In two years, you'll have your master's degree, and I'll have my PhD. I believe that through our efforts, we can create a beautiful life together," Daryl said, his eyes filled with pain as he looked at the emotional Cecilia.

"But now I can't just ignore my mom and my brother! My dad died early, and my mom raised my brother and me by herself. She couldn't afford to send me to school, so my brother dropped out early to work and support my education. Now he's in his thirties, and my mom won't rest until he's settled down," Cecilia cried.

"But you can't sell yourself just to get your brother a wife, can you?" Daryl's veins were bulging on his forehead.

"So what if I sell myself a few times? Do you think those rich men will marry me and have children with me? They're smart; they'll marry girls who are their social equals, who can benefit their families and businesses," Cecilia said with a cold laugh.

"What are you planning to do?" Daryl frowned, staring at her in confusion.

Cecilia then sneered, "Let them have their fun. If they're willing to pay, it'll solve my brother's problems."

As soon as Cecilia finished speaking, Daryl raised his hand and slapped her hard.

Seeing Cecilia get slapped, Susan frowned.

Spring was so scared that she immediately hugged Susan's leg but didn't dare to say a word, her big, round eyes just staring at Cecilia.

Susan quickly reached out to touch Spring's head, afraid of scaring her, but it wasn't a good time to intervene.

Although Cecilia had been hit, she didn't get angry. Instead, she laughed hysterically. ""What's the difference, Daryl? Whether it's with you or someone else, it's just one night. If it solves my problems, why not?"

"How could you become like this? Do you have any dignity left?" Daryl pointed at Cecilia, heartbroken.

"This is who I really am; you just didn't know me," Cecilia turned her face away and finally saw Susan and Spring standing at the door.

Seeing Susan and Spring, Cecilia was momentarily stunned.

Seeing Cecilia's expression, Daryl turned his head and also saw Susan and Spring.

For the shocked Cecilia, Susan smiled politely, saying, "Oh, Spring insisted on seeing you, so I brought her to the hospital."

Seeing Susan and Spring, Cecilia was a bit surprised but quickly regained her composure and smiled. "It's not good for children to come to the hospital. You shouldn't have brought her."

Hearing this, Susan realized she had intruded on Cecilia's privacy and felt very awkward, only managing an embarrassed smile.

The next moment, the awkwardness on Cecilia's face disappeared.

She turned to Daryl with a cold attitude and said, "Now you know what kind of person I am, so there's really no need for you to spend any more time on me. You need a pure and innocent girl. I hope you find your happiness soon. Goodbye, or rather, I hope we never meet again. I'm sure you don't want to see me either because seeing me would only pollute your eyes."

After saying this, Cecilia turned her face away and looked elsewhere.

Susan saw the disappointment and pain on Daryl's face. After staring blankly at Cecilia for a moment, he left angrily.

Susan felt a mix of emotions, not expecting to witness such a scene just by bringing Spring to see Cecilia.

However, she also felt some pity for Cecilia. Deep down, Cecilia was still proud, but her poor family situation forced her to make degrading choices.

That man named Daryl must be Cecilia's lover. It must be heartbreaking for a man to see his lover like this.

At this moment, Susan saw tears in Cecilia's eyes, but she turned away and quietly wiped them away.

The next moment, Susan placed the bouquet she was holding into the vase on the table.

Spring ran over, grabbed Cecilia's hand, and looked up, asking, "Miss Thorne, are you feeling better?"

Cecilia quickly wiped her tears, squatted down, and looked at Spring with a forced smile. "I still need to stay in the hospital for a few more days, so I won't be able to teach you and Hayden anymore. You have to listen to your new teacher, okay?"

Hearing this, Spring pouted and said unhappily, "But I still like you, Miss Thorne."

"Your daddy will find you a good teacher. Be good and listen. I'll come to see you when I have time," Cecilia gently coaxed Spring.

"Really?" Spring knew Cecilia wouldn't be teaching her anymore, so she was excited to hear that she could still see Cecilia in the future.

"Really. I'll buy you a pretty doll when I see you, okay?" Cecilia's smile was bright.

"Okay," Spring clapped her hands excitedly.

Because Susan and Seb were getting a new tutor for Spring, she had been unhappy for the past few days. Seeing her return to her usual lively and adorable self, Susan felt very grateful to Cecilia.

Cecilia was indeed a smart person. She probably understood the dilemma Susan was facing.

With Cecilia comforting Spring, Susan no longer had to worry about Spring not cooperating with the new tutor.
