Chapter 1371 Thaddeus's Dad is So Handsome

Cecilia turned around, shrugged off her coat, and headed to the bathroom to brush her teeth and freshen up. She applied a face mask, then lay down on her bed, feeling relaxed. She turned on the TV and let the soap opera play in the background.

In the past, Cecilia would have secretly watched the peephole on the door to see if he had left.

But now, she didn't care anymore. She had stopped loving him a long time ago. He was just her son's father, nothing more.

The next morning, Cecilia put on her down jacket and headed out.

As she walked down the street, the cold wind blew through her short hair. Cecilia looked around and didn't notice anything unusual. It seemed like no one was following her today.

Instantly, Cecilia felt much better.

When she arrived at the shop, Calliope had already opened the door.

"Morning, boss," Calliope greeted Cecilia with a smile.

"Morning. I'll be in the back making cakes. Keep an eye on the shop," Cecilia said, then turned and went to the back.

Cecilia spent over two hours in the back making cakes. It was almost noon when she finally came out with a tray of freshly made cakes.

"Boss, you really need to hire someone. Ever since Elowen left, it's been too busy," Calliope said with a smile, though she was clearly frustrated.

"I've had the job ad up for days, but no suitable candidates have applied. With the holidays coming up, it's hard to find people. We might have to wait until next year," Cecilia replied.

"Oh, I see," Calliope pouted.

Seeing Calliope's troubled expression, Cecilia tried to comfort her. "Alright, I know it's been tough. Starting this month, I'll give you a ten percent raise. Plus, we'll close a few days early for the holidays, so you'll get extra time off."

"Really? That's great!" Calliope exclaimed, her mood instantly lifting.

Suddenly, Calliope leaned in close to Cecilia and whispered, "Boss, he's here again!"

"Who?" Cecilia frowned.

Following Calliope's pointing finger, Cecilia glanced towards the window and froze.

She only saw his back, but she could recognize him instantly.

Daryl was sitting by the window, a cup of coffee in front of him and a book in his hand. He looked like he'd been there for a while.

"He's been here for two hours already. He's had five refills of coffee. I'm worried he won't be able to sleep tonight!" Calliope whispered.

Cecilia's frown deepened.

She thought he had gone back to Maple Valley, but he was still here. Her mood soured instantly.

"Boss, he ordered your matcha cake," Calliope said.

Cecilia thought for a moment, then picked up a plate of matcha cake and walked over.

"Sir, your cake," Cecilia said, placing the plate in front of Daryl.

Daryl looked up at Cecilia, meeting her cold gaze.

"Thank you," Daryl said, then lowered his head to enjoy the cake. He didn't try to explain or talk to her as Cecilia had expected.

Cecilia frowned and turned back to the counter.

She didn't know what he wanted, but she was sure he was here to try to reconcile. However, she was determined not to go back.

Around noon, more people came in for cakes, desserts, and coffee. Cecilia and Calliope got busy and had no time to pay attention to the man sitting by the window.

The cakes sold out quickly, and Cecilia hurried to the back to make more. By the time she finished, it was already past three in the afternoon.

When Cecilia brought the cakes to the front, more people came in for afternoon tea, and she and Calliope got busy again.

It wasn't until nearly five o'clock that Cecilia could take a breath.

After eating a little, Cecilia looked up and saw Daryl still sitting by the window.

He had been there all day. Cecilia frowned.

"Boss, he's been here all day. You wouldn't believe how many women have tried to talk to him, but he just ignored them all," Calliope whispered to Cecilia.

Cecilia smirked.

That was the charm of a handsome guy. He attracted attention wherever he went.

But Cecilia didn't want to deal with him. If he wanted to sit there, let him. She'd see how long he could keep it up.

As closing time approached, Daryl was still sitting by the window.

Cecilia couldn't help but be impressed. He could go meditate in a temple with that kind of sitting endurance.

Calliope whispered in Cecilia's ear, "He's had ten cups of coffee, five cakes, two desserts, and a snack today. I'm worried he'll get caffeine poisoning!"

Cecilia couldn't help but laugh. "Let him eat and drink as much as he wants. When he pays, don't give him a discount."

"Got it," Calliope winked at Cecilia.

A while later, Cecilia signaled to Calliope, who walked over to Daryl. "Sir, we're closing."

"Okay," Daryl nodded, then stood up and grabbed his coat.

"Sir, your total is four hundred eighty dollars," Calliope handed him the bill.

Daryl took out his wallet and placed five hundred dollars in Calliope's tray. "Keep the change."

"Thank you for the tip," Calliope said sweetly.

Cecilia was at the counter, head down, calculating the day's earnings, not even glancing at Daryl.

Daryl walked to the counter and stared at Cecilia for several seconds, but she didn't look up.

Finally, Daryl turned and left the café, looking defeated.

After he left, Calliope rushed back to Cecilia. "Boss, Thaddeus's dad is so handsome! You should have seen the way he looked at you. So deep, so emotional, so intense. Even the best actors couldn't pull off that look!"

Cecilia, unfazed, said, "Alright, clean up. We're closing."

Seeing her boss's calm demeanor, Calliope said, "Boss, he's so handsome and he's practically begging. Maybe you should reconsider."

Cecilia replied impatiently, "I think you might be interested in him. I'm not reconsidering, but you can."

Calliope pouted, "I'd love to, but he has to be interested in me first!"

Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.
