Chapter 126 Why Do You Always Attract Men

Hearing the suggestion, Susan quickly nodded to herself in her mind.

This was perfect. She couldn't stay at George and Vivian Law Firm anymore. Jobs were hard to come by, and with their payout, she could manage for a bit. Sure, it wasn't the most ambitious or dignified move, but dignity was a luxury for the rich.

Plus, her hearing was back. The deafness was just temporary. Even if she sued, she wouldn't win much, maybe just some compensation.

Vivian was arrogant, and Susan didn't like her, but she didn't want to make enemies. George had helped her a lot in the past.

"If Susan's deafness is permanent, should we send her to jail?" Seb snapped at Vivian.

"Seb..." George frowned.

Seb cut him off, "Don't tell me you want to settle this with money. We won't take any compensation."

"Is there no room for negotiation?" George looked stressed.

Seb replied firmly, "My lawyer's handling this. If you have questions, talk to my lawyer!"

Susan thought, 'Seb, why are you being so stubborn? You don't need the money, but I do!'

She wanted to say her deafness was temporary and that George should just pay up. She never wanted to see George and Vivian again!

George stayed silent, but Vivian, standing behind him, spoke up.

"Seb, what's your deal with this woman? Why are you protecting her like George?" Vivian pointed at Susan on the hospital bed.

Susan couldn't take Vivian's insult anymore.

Normally, she would've snapped back at Vivian, but today she was still technically deaf and couldn't hear the words, so she just buried her anger, feeling awful.

"What are you talking about? Have you forgotten why we're here?" George was the first to scold Vivian.

"Seriously? Can you say you haven't had feelings for her? If I hadn't come back early, who knows what would've happened?" Vivian sneered, her eyes  full of disdain and contempt for Susan.

Susan couldn't take it anymore. She was about to speak when Seb stepped forward, pointed at Vivian, and said coldly, "Vivian, I've tolerated you because our families are close. If you don't shut up now, don't blame me for being rude!"

Seb's expression was terrifying, his eyes like  ice, radiating a bone-chilling cold. The warning in his voice sent shivers down the spine.

Susan closed her mouth, feeling a warm surge in her heart.

Even though Seb always bullied her, made her angry, and even hurt her, he always stood up for her when someone else did. Especially when she was most helpless. Susan felt deeply moved.

Vivian clammed up at Seb's warning, not daring to say another word. She stared at Susan for a while before softening her tone, "What's your relationship with her?"

"My ex-wife," Seb replied simply.

Vivian was so shocked her jaw almost dropped!

Susan lowered her head, thinking, 'Looks like Seb's ex-wife status really stunned Vivian.'

Vivian then turned to George and sneered, "George, you have quite the taste!"

With that, she left.

George felt awkward, holding a bouquet of flowers. "Seb, Vivian has some misunderstandings about me. Take good care of Susan. I'll take responsibility for everything."

"I hope it's just a misunderstanding," Seb said, his words layered with meaning.

George forced a smile, placed the flowers on the bedside table, and said awkwardly, "I'll be going now."

"Just go," Seb replied.

As soon as George left, Seb walked over and tossed the flowers into the trash can by the door.

Susan couldn't help but chuckle. Seb was clearly jealous; his face was so dark it could almost wring out water.

Seeing Seb sitting angrily in the chair, staring gloomily at a spot in the room, Susan knew better than to provoke him. She quietly slipped into the bathroom.

She dawdled in the bathroom for a long time. When she came out, she walked out holding the wall.

"Why do you always attract different men?" Seb's eyes were fixed on her, his tone low and resentful.

Susan wanted to retort but reminded herself, 'I'm supposed to be deaf now, unable to hear anything.' So she pretended to know nothing and sat by the bed.

She felt wronged because she had never tried to attract George; it was just bad luck ending up at his firm.

As Amelia had said, she always seemed to have bad luck with bosses. Next time, she'd find a job with an older boss to avoid trouble.

Susan lowered her eyelids, feeling uncomfortable under Seb's intense gaze.

After a while, Seb finally walked over and wrote a few words on a piece of paper.

[I'm going to work.]

He pushed the paper in front of Susan, grabbed his coat, and quickly left the ward.

After Seb left, Susan felt relieved!

What should she do? She really didn't want to be around Seb anymore.

Should she admit she could hear and get discharged?

No way! Seb had already hired a lawyer for her. If she discharged herself, negotiating compensation with Vivian would be tough. It wasn't just about the money; she couldn't just take the beating for nothing.

Besides, if her hearing recovered, who knew how Seb would treat her? How could she successfully get rid of him? Susan pondered deeply.
