Chapter 633 Discharged from the Hospital
Two days later, Susan was finally able to leave the hospital.
Susan changed out of the hospital gown she had been wearing for several days and finally put on her own clothes.
The stark white walls and the doctors' serious demeanors had done little to lift her spirits. Wearing the striped hospital gown every day only amplified her melancholy. But she had made a promise to Seb, and she intended to keep it.
At that moment, Leon gently knocked on the door, then walked in with a smile and asked, "Ms. Wilson, the discharge paperwork is done. Are you ready to go?"
"Yes," Susan smiled, then grabbed her bag and was the first to leave the ward.
Susan knew perfectly well that Leon had been sent by Seb, but she pretended not to know and fully accepted the arrangement because she knew his temper. If she didn't comply, George's issues wouldn't be resolved, and she wouldn't be able to see Hayden and Spring.
After leaving the hospital, Susan saw the black Bentley parked on the street and smiled as she turned to Leon, who had followed her. "I'm going to Isabella's house."
"I know. Isabella is already prepared to welcome you," Leon nodded.
Hearing this, Susan hesitated for a moment before asking, "Leon, do you like Isabella?"
Leon was taken aback by the question. The usually articulate man found himself at a loss for words.
Seeing Leon's expression, Susan awkwardly smiled and said, "I know my question is a bit abrupt, but Isabella is my best friend. She's not young anymore, and I don't want her to waste any more time."
Actually, Susan's words had a deeper meaning. She could clearly sense that Isabella liked Leon, but Leon's attitude was still unclear. If he liked Isabella, he should seize the opportunity. After all, neither of them was young. If he didn't have strong feelings for Isabella, he shouldn't lead her on, as it would only end up hurting Isabella.
After hesitating for a moment, Leon asked, "Did Isabella ask you to ask me this?"
"Of course not!" Susan immediately denied it.
Seeing Leon's expressionless face, Susan started to sweat a little. If he thought Isabella had asked her to test him, it would be very embarrassing for Isabella.
The next moment, Leon's lips curled into a smile. "To be honest, I'm not entirely sure myself. But I think about her constantly. When I'm with her, I can't resist teasing her. And arguing with her... well, it's strangely satisfying."
Hearing this, Susan frowned at Leon. She couldn't understand what was going on between the two of them. It seemed like they enjoyed arguing with each other, but maybe it was just a way to get each other's attention.
It dawned on her that neither of them was ready to acknowledge their true emotions, yet they were undeniably drawn to each other.
With this answer, Susan felt she knew where to start in helping to bring them together.
Leon then took the initiative to end the conversation.
He stepped forward and opened the back door of the Bentley for Susan.
Susan smiled and then bent down to get into the back seat of the car.
But as soon as she sat down, she realized there was already someone in the back seat.
Immediately, Susan could guess who was sitting in the back seat.
Since that day at the hospital, he hadn't shown up. Susan thought he wouldn't come to see her discharged either, but he had come to pick her up. A ripple of emotion passed through her heart.
Susan was the first to break the silence in the car. "Why are you here?"
Her tone was a bit distant, and her face clearly showed her lack of welcome.
Seb glanced at her, his eyes showing a hint of concern before he looked out the window at the passing scenery. "Aren't you going to Isabella's house? Her place is just a couple of turns away from the Prosperity Group building. I'm just on my way."
Hearing this, Susan's heart sank. She thought to herself, 'It seems I was just overthinking it. He was just on his way.'
Susan's lips trembled, and then she closed her mouth, not saying another word.
The car was silent for a few seconds before Seb took out a newspaper and tossed it onto Susan's lap. "I think you'll be happy to see this."
Hearing this, Susan skeptically glanced at Seb's stern face, then picked up the newspaper from her lap and flipped through it. Today's headline was about George.
Seeing George's news, Susan naturally felt nervous. She quickly skimmed through the article and found that today's news was to clear George's name. According to the report, the person who had falsely accused George of giving false testimony had confessed and was now facing legal proceedings.
Seeing this news, Susan knew that George's reputation crisis was resolved, so she breathed a sigh of relief.
"I thank you on behalf of George for being lenient this time," Susan said as she folded the newspaper.
Hearing this, Seb frowned. "George is getting married tomorrow. If anyone should thank me, it should be his fiancée. You probably won't have much to do with him anymore, right?"
Susan smiled indifferently. "George and I are still friends, after all. As a friend, I naturally hope he can live a peaceful and worry-free life."
Seb glanced at Susan and sneered. "You're quite generous. You're about to lose George, and you don't seem to care at all."
"I hope you don't forget what you promised. I must see Hayden and Spring in a week," Susan said firmly.
Seb turned to look at Susan, his tone domineering. "As long as you rest at home for a week, I'll keep my word."
"I will definitely rest at home for a week. My body is my own, and I won't joke around with my health. You should book the kids' tickets right away!" Susan said, then turned her face away, unwilling to look at Seb any longer.
Watching her back, a trace of pain flashed in Seb's eyes.
'Susan, why don't you trust me at all? Do you really think I'm someone who would use such despicable means to frame George?' Seb felt wronged, but his pride wouldn't allow him to explain anything to Susan.
