Chapter 630 I'm Getting Married
"What invitation?" Susan asked Isabella curiously.
Isabella put away her phone and complained, "It must be a wedding invitation. Why else would they send it from so far away? They just want a gift, those people. You wouldn't believe it, but last time, a colleague I haven't spoken to in years personally delivered an invitation to his son's wedding!"
Hearing this, Susan laughed and said, "Just give them a generous gift. You'll earn it back at your own wedding."
"Forget it. If I never get married, wouldn't I be at a loss?" Isabella said seriously.
At this moment, Susan tilted her head and said, "It's been a while since my bouquet landed in your hands. Why hasn't your romance come yet?"
"Hey, can you not bring this up in every conversation? I was in a good mood today, but you keep reminding me that I'm single," Isabella protested.
"Alright, alright, I won't say it anymore, okay? By the way, stay for lunch. There will definitely be some good soup," Susan said with a small laugh.
"Yeah, that's a good idea," Isabella nodded with a smile.
Then, Susan and Isabella happily chatted away. Isabella's arrival indeed lifted Susan's spirits a lot.
As they were chatting, there was a knock on the door.
"It must be the person delivering the invitation," Isabella said to Susan, then shouted towards the door, "Come in!"
The next moment, the door opened, and a person in a white shirt walked in politely and asked, "Excuse me, which one of you is Isabella? I have an invitation for her."
"Here," Isabella said.
The person handed a red, gold-embossed invitation to Isabella. "This is for you. Please make sure to attend. Goodbye!"
After saying that, the person politely left the ward.
Isabella looked down at the exquisite invitation in her hand and couldn't help but say, "This invitation must have cost a few dollars. It's so well-made."
After saying that, Isabella opened the invitation and was stunned when she saw the writing inside.
"What is it?" Susan asked, seeing the shocked expression on Isabella's face.
The next moment, Isabella looked up at Susan and said, "It's Maria's invitation. She's getting married."
Hearing this, Susan was surprised and said, "Maria? Getting married? Maria kept her boyfriend under wraps!"
"She's marrying George," Isabella said expressionlessly, looking at Susan.
Hearing this, Susan was immediately stunned!
George and Maria? Getting married? This was unbelievable. Susan couldn't react for a moment.
"What? You didn't know at all?" Isabella asked, seeing Susan's expression.
Susan shook her head.
When did this happen? Wasn't George always seeing Jessica? Even if he was getting married, it should be to Jessica. How did Maria suddenly come into the picture?
Susan recalled the scene a few days ago when George left her ward. She had resolutely said she never wanted to see him again, and he had said he would completely cut ties with her. Did he mean getting married by cutting ties?
At this moment, there was another knock on the ward door.
Susan looked up, and the next moment, she saw Maria pushing the door open and walking in.
Maria looked radiant today, wearing a light pink embroidered dress, her hair straight and flowing down her back, with a collarbone chain around her neck. She was holding a bouquet of flowers, but what caught the eye was the diamond ring on her left ring finger, which was dazzlingly bright.
Undoubtedly, this diamond ring must have been given by George. Susan suddenly remembered the day Maria had desperately asked her to persuade Seb to restore George's reputation.
Susan had vaguely felt that Maria's feelings for George were not simple. Now it seemed Maria had always had a crush on George.
Actually, it shouldn't be called a crush. Since George could find Maria in such a short time and persuade her to marry him, it showed that George was aware of Maria's feelings for him.
Maria walked in with a smile, seeing Susan's eyes fixed on the ring on her hand.
She then smiled and said, "Susan, I heard you were hospitalized, so I came to visit you."
"Thank you," Susan said, still a bit dazed and shocked.
Maria walked to the table and placed the flowers in a vase.
Then she looked at Susan and smiled. "I think you know by now, right?"
Maria then took out an identical red, gold-embossed invitation from her bag and handed it to Susan. "I'm having my wedding in three days. This is your invitation. The groom is George."
Hearing this, Susan slowly reached out and took the invitation from Maria's hand. She opened it and saw that the names of the bride and groom were indeed George and Maria.
Instantly, the invitation felt heavy in Susan's hand.
Susan knew very well that George didn't love Maria, but it was clear that Maria was very devoted to George. But would their marriage have a happy ending? Susan's heart was in turmoil.
At this moment, Isabella said, "Maria, are you kidding? How can you get married so suddenly? George..."
Before Isabella could finish, Maria interrupted her with a smile. "Isabella, I've always admired George. I knew I was too ordinary to catch his eye, but when he suddenly proposed to me a few days ago, I couldn't resist the temptation, so I agreed. It was a dream I never thought would come true, but since fate has given me this chance, I should seize it, right?"
"But what if George treats you badly? You'll be the one getting hurt," Isabella said, frowning.
Isabella naturally understood George's deep affection for Susan over the years. She didn't want Maria to get involved, as Maria was a very nice girl, and they didn't want to see her unhappy in the future.
Hearing this, Maria's eyes were firm as she said, "That's fate, and I can only accept it passively."
"How can you entrust your happiness to fate?" Isabella said anxiously.
