Chapter 504 Who Is the Most Important
Watching James storm off, Susan couldn't help but scowl.
Why was he always such a pain? Eight hundred bucks a month should be plenty if he wasn't blowing it on nonsense, but he always had to stir up drama. Susan was beyond drained.
Catherine gave Susan's shoulder a reassuring pat. "Forget about him. Your wedding's just around the corner. Don't let him mess with your vibe."
Susan nodded, then glanced up. "Mom, you seem to dislike him even more now."
Catherine used to have a soft spot for James, but now she seemed just as fed up as Susan.
Catherine smirked. "Maybe I had a bit of hope for him before. But now, I couldn't care less. I don't even want to see his face."
Susan almost asked if it was because Catherine had Todd on her mind now, but the thought was too touchy, so she kept quiet.
After that, Susan said her goodbyes and left, feeling pretty down.
Two nights later, the wedding prep was in full swing.
In the master bedroom, Susan was laying out all the wedding essentials—dress, gown, shoes, bag, jewelry—making sure she didn't miss a thing.
Seb was lounging against the headboard, buried in some documents, while Hayden was eyeing all the shiny stuff Susan had spread out.
Hayden wandered over to Seb and said, all wide-eyed, "Daddy, getting married looks so cool. I wanna get married too!"
Seb frowned and looked at Hayden. "You're just a kid. Why are you even thinking about marriage?"
"Mommy's clothes and shoes are so pretty. I wanna buy these for my bride someday!" Hayden said, his eyes sparkling.
"Well, first you gotta hit the books, then make some cash. Once you got money, you can buy whatever you want for your girl," Seb said, trying to be the wise dad.
Hayden nodded, stuck his finger in his mouth, and said, "Yeah, Daddy's right. I'm gonna go study now!"
And with that, Hayden dashed out of the room.
Susan shook her head, calling after him, "Slow down, don't trip!"
"Got it," Hayden's voice echoed back, followed by the sound of him thundering down the stairs.
Susan plopped down on the edge of the bed, a wry smile on her face. "So young and already thinking about studying hard to make money for his future wife. He'll probably forget all about me once he's hitched!"
Seb took her hand and kissed it. "You'll still have me, won't you?"
"You can't replace my son," Susan said, rolling her eyes.
Seb frowned, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into his chest.
"Who's more important, me or our son?" Seb asked, holding her tight.
Susan locked eyes with Seb's intense gaze but stubbornly said, "Of course, my son and daughter are more important."
Seb's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing. "I'll give you one more chance. Who's more important?"
"Equally important," Susan reluctantly changed her answer.
The next moment, Susan let out a low cry.
With a swift move, he had her pinned beneath him!
Seb looked down at her and said, "Looks like I need to teach you a lesson so you get the right answer."
He lowered his head and nibbled on her smooth neck.
"Stop it, I haven't finished sorting yet!" Susan pushed against his chest, glancing at the room filled with clothes and shoes.
But it was too late. Even if she changed her answer now, it wouldn't help.
A long time later, the room finally fell silent.
Susan lay on the messy sheets, her hair spread out on the pillow, her limbs weak and unable to move.
Standing by the bed, Seb, now putting on his robe, looked at the exhausted Susan with satisfaction. He smiled, reached out to touch her face, and asked, "Do you know who's most important now?"
Susan rolled her eyes at him, still stubborn. "It's still my son and daughter!"
She had already suffered, so she wouldn't back down now. Because she knew he surely couldn't go for another round.
Hearing this, Seb pinched her chin, his eyes filled with danger.
But Susan was no longer afraid. She sat up in bed, raised her chin, and said arrogantly, "You've already punished me. You wouldn't punish me again, would you?"
"What do you mean? Do you think I won't punish you again, or do you think I'm not capable of punishing you?" Seb's lips curled into a cold smile.
"I'd rather not answer that," Susan blinked.
"What do you mean?" Seb stared at her in confusion.
Susan smiled and said, "I'm afraid you'll lose face."
With that, Susan got out of bed, put on her slippers, and walked towards the bathroom, saying, "I'm not arguing with you anymore. I'm going to take a shower."
But before she could finish, Susan screamed because she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground.
Startled, Susan immediately reached out and hugged the only thing she could—Seb's neck!
Just as Susan was relieved she hadn't fallen, a terrifying light and a cold voice came from above. "Since you doubt my ability, it seems I need to show you my true capabilities."
"What true capabilities?" Susan asked in fear.
But Seb ignored her, turned, and threw her onto the soft bed.
Susan looked up and saw him taking off the robe he had just put on. Her lips trembled, and she quickly said something nice, "Seb, don't be stubborn. I know your capabilities, okay? Please don't..."
The next moment, he pounced on her like a lion on its prey, and nothing she said mattered anymore.
After this round, Susan lay flat on the bed, too exhausted to even make a sound.
Leaning against the headboard, Seb glanced at her limp form on the bed and smiled contentedly.
