Chapter 1255 Special Customs

The Thorne family's house was pretty small, just two bedrooms and a living room. Rainey had one room, and Beau and his wife had the other. So when Daryl and Cecilia came to visit, Beau and his wife gave up their room and crashed into the living room.

Hearing this, Daryl felt a bit awkward. "Looks like we'll have to inconvenience your brother and sister-in-law tonight."

"They're happy to have us," Cecilia said with a smile.

At that moment, Cecilia suddenly took Daryl's hand and said sincerely, "Daryl, thank you."

Daryl raised an eyebrow. "Thank me for what?"

"Thank you for respecting my family. My mom and my brother are really happy with you. They said they feel at ease knowing I'm marrying you," Cecilia said with a smile.

Hearing this, Daryl playfully pinched Cecilia's nose. "They've got good taste."

"I picked you, didn't I?" Cecilia shot back.

"You've got good taste too," Daryl said, putting his arm around Cecilia's shoulders and leaning in to kiss her.

Just then, the door suddenly opened!

Daryl and Cecilia jumped, and Daryl quickly pulled back his hand while Cecilia stood up.

Beau's wife walked in with a bowl of sweet soup, smiling. "I made some sweet soup and brought you a bowl."

As she spoke, Beau's wife glanced at Daryl sitting on the bed.

"Thanks. I'll take it," Cecilia said, quickly stepping forward to take the soup.

Beau's wife looked around the room. "Do you need anything else? I can get it for you."

"No, we're good," Cecilia said, placing the soup on the table.

"It's late, you should get some rest. Sorry for the trouble," Daryl said politely.

"We're family, no need to be so formal," Beau's wife said, her eyes landing on Cecilia.

Cecilia met her gaze and was momentarily stunned.

Then, Beau's wife said softly to Cecilia, "Come with me for a moment."

"Okay," Cecilia said, glancing at Daryl before following her sister-in-law out of the room.

After a while, Cecilia finally returned.

"This soup is really good. Come have some before it gets cold," Daryl said, smiling at Cecilia as she walked in.

"Okay," Cecilia replied, sitting down on the bed and taking the bowl of soup from Daryl. She began to drink it.

"What did your sister-in-law want?" Daryl asked suddenly.

Cecilia's face turned red.

Seeing her silence and blushing face, Daryl leaned in curiously. "What happened?"

Cecilia hesitated but then whispered a few words in Daryl's ear.

Daryl squinted his eyes. "You have that kind of tradition here?"

"I just found out. Since it's a tradition and my sister-in-law cares about it, we should follow it, right?" Cecilia said shyly.

Daryl put his arm around Cecilia's shoulders and whispered in her ear, "Your sister-in-law is too superstitious. I was hoping we could..."

Before he could finish, Cecilia covered his mouth. "It's our family tradition. When you're in our house, you follow our rules. Besides, I don't come back often and don't want to bring bad luck. I can't be intimate with you here, or it will affect my brother and sister-in-law's luck."

"Alright, I'll hold off," Daryl teased, looking at Cecilia.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Beau's wife's voice came from outside. "Cecilia, Mom's waiting for you to sleep. If you stay up too late, she'll have trouble sleeping."

"Got it, I'm coming," Cecilia called back.

She turned to Daryl. "My sister-in-law is rushing me. I have to go. You sleep well."

As Cecilia turned to leave, Daryl grabbed her arm, pouting. "What if I can't sleep without you?"

"Then count sheep," Cecilia replied.

"What if I still can't sleep?" Daryl continued.

Cecilia frowned. "Then don't sleep. I have to go, or my sister-in-law will laugh at me."

"Laugh at you for what?" Daryl asked, amused.

"For not being able to stay away from a man!" Cecilia said, frowning.

Daryl burst out laughing.

Seeing Daryl's amused expression, Cecilia tried to pull away. "Let go of me."

"If you want me to let go, you have to give me something in return," Daryl said, his eyes twinkling.

Understanding his meaning, Cecilia leaned in and gave him a hard kiss on the cheek. "Happy now?"

"Ouch!" Daryl exclaimed, covering his face.

Cecilia had used her teeth, and seeing his reaction, she couldn't help but laugh.

"Just wait until we get home," Daryl said, glaring at Cecilia as she reached the door.

Cecilia laughed. "We'll see about that. Bye!" She waved and left the room.

The next morning, Cecilia's family saw Daryl and Cecilia off at the highway entrance to the small town.

The trunk was packed with local produce—eggs, pork, vegetables, and various fruits. Beau had made sure they had a bit of everything the town produced.

With heartfelt goodbyes from her family, Cecilia and Daryl finally drove away.

Once on the highway, Cecilia turned away from the view of the small town.

The driver drove steadily, and Daryl and Cecilia sat side by side in the back seat.

Daryl held Cecilia's hand and smiled. "Your brother gave us so much food. How are we going to finish it all?"

"Take it home to your parents. Though your mom might not appreciate our country produce," Cecilia said, frowning.

"She loves organic food from the countryside. I promise she'll eat it," Daryl said, holding Cecilia's hand.

Cecilia knew Daryl was trying to comfort her, so she didn't argue further.

"By the way, how was it sleeping with your mom last night?" Daryl asked suddenly.
