Chapter 1005 I Accept My Fate

Upon hearing this, Isabella furrowed her brows and reached out to twist Leon's ear, saying fiercely, "You don't get a choice in this."

"Alright, alright, I accept!" Leon immediately raised his hands in surrender.

"Go to sleep!" Isabella commanded, then turned off the bedroom wall lamp.

Afterward, Isabella said, "I'll hold Milo while I sleep."

With that, Isabella gently placed her hand on Milo.

The next moment, an arm wrapped around Isabella's waist, and she heard Leon whisper in her ear from behind, "Then I'll hold you. The three of us will always be together!"

Hearing this, Isabella didn't refuse. She smiled slightly and then closed her eyes.

The next morning, in the CEO's office of Johnson Corporation.

Leon was sitting at the large desk, looking down at some documents, when the door suddenly burst open without warning.

The sound of high heels clicking on the floor echoed through the office.

Leon frowned and looked up, only to see Bronte, dressed in an orange suit, walking in.

"Leon, this document needs your review." Bronte walked up to the desk and placed a document in front of Leon.

Leon glanced at the now-closed office door, then looked at Bronte's face, speaking stiffly, "Ms. Langley, I've told you many times, please knock before entering my office!"

"Sorry, I'm just used to it and forgot. I'll be more careful next time, Leon. Don't be mad!" Bronte said, flicking her long, curly hair, her eyes full of charm.

"Also, this is a company. I don't want the staff to think there's something special between us. Please address me as Mr. Johnson from now on." Leon turned his face away, not bothering to look at her.

Bronte wasn't angry at all. Instead, she smiled and said, "Got it, Mr. Johnson. But after work, can I still call you Leon?"

Leon's face hardened. "I don't think we have any interaction after work."

"I..." Bronte wanted to say something.

Leon interrupted her. "I appreciate your help for the company and me over the past while. I feel like I know the operations well now. I'll be handling inspections myself from here on out. You've been working hard, so I've decided to have another vice president accompany me. You can take a well-deserved break."

Bronte's face immediately fell.

Bronte had used the pretext of familiarizing herself with the company's operations to get close to Leon. Without this excuse, it would be hard for her to see him.

So, the next moment, Bronte hurried around the desk, came up to Leon, and placed her hands on his chair, saying, "This is my job, and I know you’re really familiar with how the company runs. I think it would be best if I join you on visits to the branches and projects."

At this moment, Bronte was very close to Leon, her face almost touching his.

Leon frowned, showing his extreme annoyance.

He then stood up abruptly and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Bronte was visibly disappointed with Leon's attitude.

Leon, with one hand in his pocket, looked out at the scenery of Maple Valley and said coldly, "Bronte, this is a workplace. Please behave yourself."

Bronte took a step closer to Leon and said, "I know this isn't right, but you haven't given me a chance to get close to you after work either."

"Bronte, I'm a married man. I'm not only someone's husband but also a father. I don't want to do anything shady, and you shouldn't either!" Leon said, turning to leave.

But at that moment, Bronte suddenly hugged Leon from behind.

"Bronte, don't do this!" Leon tried to pry her hands off his waist.

But Bronte held on tightly, her voice choked with emotion.

"Leon, I've loved you since we were kids. You know that, right? Why can't you give me a little hope?" Bronte's tears soaked Leon's shirt.

Leon frowned, trying to remain calm. "I've never had romantic feelings for you. Don't you understand that?"

"No! You must have had feelings for me. You didn't want to get married back then because you were afraid your kids would inherit your mother's schizophrenia. But then you met Isabella, that scheming woman. She got pregnant without your consent, forcing you to marry her. She did it on purpose. She was using you. You married her out of responsibility and for the kid!" Bronte said excitedly.

Hearing this, Leon couldn't take it anymore. He forcefully pried Bronte's hands off and stepped back, putting distance between them.

"Bronte, Isabella is my wife now. I won't allow you to insult her. And let me make it clear: I love Isabella and our kid. Her pregnancy was an accident, but there was no scheming or manipulation involved!" Leon was angry.

Seeing Leon's anger, Bronte quickly changed her tone. "Leon, I didn't mean to criticize Isabella. Please don't be mad. I just wanted to tell you how I feel. I've loved you for so many years, even though you've never responded. I love you so much that I can't help myself. For you, I gave up my life as a wealthy heiress and worked at Prosperity Group for years, just to see you occasionally.

When I heard your father had cancer, I knew you'd return to Johnson Corporation to take over, so I quit my job and came back to work here, just to be able to help you when you needed it. Over the years, there are countless men pursuing me, but I haven't had a single relationship. I've spent my best years and youth on you, Leon. Even if you're heartless, you should be moved by my devotion, right?"

By this point, Bronte was in tears, her heart aching.

Leon frowned deeply, looking at Bronte with a frustrated expression. "Bronte, I made my feelings clear many years ago. It's you who refused to accept it. I never asked you to do anything for me. Everything was your choice!"
