Chapter 1245 We Are Getting Married Soon
Upon hearing this, Cecilia quickly grabbed Daryl's arm and said, "No need, I just saw Douglas and asked him to book tickets for tomorrow morning back to Maple Valley!"
Daryl stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Cecilia with a questioning gaze.
Daryl knew her too well, and Cecilia wasn't good at lying, so she quickly lowered her head, not daring to meet Daryl's eyes.
The next moment, Daryl squinted and asked, "Did Douglas say something to you?"
"No, he didn't," Cecilia immediately denied.
Seeing her unusual behavior, Daryl grabbed her arms. "You're lying. Whenever you lie, you can't look me in the eye."
"How could it be?" Cecilia raised her head to meet Daryl's gaze, but halfway through her sentence, she lost her confidence.
"What did he say to you?" Daryl was clearly angry now.
Cecilia panicked and quickly told the truth. "Daryl, you can't just ignore the issues at Maple Valley. Douglas said your parents have called several times, and he's barely holding on!"
Hearing this, Daryl became furious and stormed into the villa, shouting, "I guess he doesn't want to work anymore, talking behind my back!"
Daryl picked up his phone, ready to call Douglas.
Cecilia quickly stepped forward and snatched the phone away. "Calm down, will you?"
"Give it back!" Daryl's face darkened as he reached for the phone Cecilia had hidden behind her back.
"No," Cecilia shook her head firmly, keeping the phone out of reach.
After a moment of standoff, Daryl turned to his computer. "Then I'll video call him."
Seeing this, Cecilia threw the phone onto the bed and ran to Daryl, trying to persuade him. "Please don't be mad. Douglas meant well; he's worried about the pressure you'll face when you go back."
"Douglas is my assistant; he has to follow my orders!" Daryl said sternly.
Just as Daryl was about to start the video call with Douglas, Cecilia reached out and closed the laptop.
Daryl frowned and stared at Cecilia.
After a second of being stared at, Cecilia bit her lip, gathered her courage, straightened her back, and said loudly, "Daryl, can you give me, your future wife, some respect? I just asked Douglas to book tickets for tomorrow morning back to Maple Valley, and now you're overturning my decision. What do you mean by that? You're not respecting me at all. How can I feel confident marrying you?"
Hearing Cecilia's words and seeing her reaction, Daryl was momentarily stunned before he burst into laughter.
Seeing him laugh, Cecilia still angrily asked, "What are you laughing at?"
The tense atmosphere in the room immediately dissipated, replaced by a light-hearted mood.
Daryl walked up to Cecilia, held her shoulders, and smiled. "Alright, I'll respect you, my future wife. I'll let Douglas off this time."
"Really?" Cecilia was overjoyed.
"I really can't handle you, little troublemaker," Daryl said, pinching Cecilia's nose.
"Ouch!" Cecilia exclaimed.
The next moment, Daryl bent down and lifted Cecilia, spinning her around several times.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Cecilia, feeling dizzy, clung tightly to Daryl's neck.
Daryl then tossed Cecilia onto the soft mattress and leaned over her.
He held her delicate chin, his throat moved, and he whispered in a deep voice by her ear, "We're leaving early tomorrow. Shouldn't you make it up to me now?"
Hearing this, Cecilia's face immediately turned red.
Seeing her lower her head without speaking, Daryl asked, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
"What do you want me to say? You're so annoying!" Cecilia blushed and buried her face in his neck.
Daryl's hearty laughter filled the room.
The electric curtains slowly closed, blocking out the sunlight.
A week in Sylvanor had come to an end. Cecilia sat beside Daryl as the plane slowly landed at Maple Valley Airport.
Seeing the worry in Cecilia's eyes, Daryl held her hand and said, "Leave everything to me. Just be ready to be my bride."
Hearing this, Cecilia smiled.
Cecilia knew convincing Daryl's mother would be difficult, but his determination was enough for her. Whether they could marry smoothly in the future, she had no regrets.
Cecilia leaned her head on Daryl's shoulder, looking down at their intertwined fingers, and softly said, "Actually, dating like this is nice. If they still don't agree, we'll take our time. Don't fight with them over marrying me; it'll only make them reject me more, you know?"
"I know. You've said this dozens of times; my ears are getting calloused!" Daryl laughed.
Hearing this, Cecilia pouted, "Are you annoyed with me already?"
"Not at all. I hope you nag me for a lifetime, okay?" Daryl said, tightening his grip on her hand.
"That's more like it." Cecilia smiled.
That evening, as Daryl stepped into The Fields Mansion, he felt the tension in the air.
Isaac sat in his wheelchair, looking serious, while Azalea sat on the couch, her face dark.
Daryl's brother Elijah quickly gave Daryl a look.
Daryl glanced at his brother, then at Isaac and Azalea, and smiled. "Dad, Mom, you're still up?"
Azalea spoke first, "Your father and I were worried sick about you. You took that woman to Sylvanor for a week, leaving Fields Corporation's issues unattended. Are you trying to drive us to a heart attack?"
Knowing his parents were aware, Daryl sat in front of Azalea and smiled. "Mom, Cecilia had an accident in Sylvanor, so I went there. I've handled the company's issues; you don't need to worry."
"How can we not worry? A whole week, you..." Azalea started to say.
Daryl interrupted her, "Mom, Dad, Cecilia and I plan to get married soon."
Hearing this, Isaac and Azalea stared at Daryl.
