Chapter 1323 I Care About Many People

At this moment, their ears were filled with screams and shouts, yet they remained unusually calm.

In their subconscious, they believed the plane was about to crash, and the survival rate of such accidents was practically negligible.

Cecilia never imagined that if she were to die in this lifetime, it would be with Daryl. Did this mean they were destined to be together? She couldn't help but smile bitterly at the thought.

The plane continued to jolt violently, and Cecilia's body swayed with the turbulence.

Just as Cecilia felt utterly helpless and missed Thaddeus intensely, a warm hand suddenly covered hers on the armrest.

Feeling the warmth, Cecilia saw a rare hint of tenderness in Daryl's eyes.

Then, Daryl's deep voice reached her ears. "I never thought our marriage would end like this. Maybe even in death, we are meant to be together."

Cecilia didn't understand what he meant. Was he resigned to their fate or secretly relieved? She chuckled bitterly. Who would be relieved to lose their life just to find her?

Cecilia replied with a bitter smile, "We are only married in name. Even if we die, we can still part ways."

She tried to pull her hand away from his grip.

But Daryl held on tightly.

"We're on the brink of death, and you still stubbornly want to leave me? Fate is telling you that you belong with me, not Elijah!" Daryl's face was expressionless, but his tone was domineering.

"Why do you have to bring Elijah into this?" Cecilia snapped, her anger flaring.

"It's the truth. Whether in life or death, you and Elijah can never be together!" Daryl's lips curled into a smile, as if he had won.

Cecilia couldn't understand what was going through Daryl's mind. They were facing death, yet he was calmly discussing this. Did life mean so little to him?

Despite being unable to free her hand, Cecilia spoke calmly, "Daryl, listen to me. I won't die with you because there are many people and things I care about. I believe the plane will make it through this turbulence. I have to live!"

"Are those people and things you care about including Elijah?" Daryl couldn't stop mentioning Elijah.

Cecilia found Daryl increasingly stubborn and unreasonable. She turned her face away, enduring the plane's violent shaking. "There are many people I care about!"

Daryl smiled slightly and closed his eyes. "It's not up to us. Let God decide."

With that, he leaned back in his seat, remaining silent but still holding Cecilia's hand.

Cecilia felt a deep sense of fear. She had to survive because Thaddeus needed her. He had already lost his father; without her, he would be too pitiful. He needed his mother's care and protection.

She glanced at Daryl, who had his eyes closed, and chose to close her eyes as well.

In the darkness, his warm hand gave her courage and comfort.

The turbulence showed no signs of easing, but Cecilia's initial panic began to subside.

If God intended for them to die together today, she had no choice but to accept it. In truth, dying with him brought her a small measure of solace. Despite his misunderstandings, he was the man she had once deeply loved, and perhaps still did.

As the plane performed a 180-degree turn, Cecilia thought they were about to die together. Suddenly, the turbulence began to lessen.

Cecilia thought this might be the calm before the final storm. She kept her eyes tightly shut, feeling the sweat in her palm and Daryl's as well.

He was nervous too, right? Despite his calm words, he was afraid of dying. He must have things he cared about too.

Images of her mother, brother, and sister-in-law flashed through Cecilia's mind, but Thaddeus's chubby face dominated her thoughts.

After a while, the screams and cries around her faded, and the turbulence ceased.

Cecilia opened her eyes to find the plane had stabilized, though many items were out of place.

The flight attendant's voice came over the intercom. "Ladies and gentlemen, the plane has safely passed through the turbulence. We will be landing at Maple Valley Airport in twenty minutes. Thank you for your cooperation."

Cecilia let out a sigh of relief, her heart returning to its normal rhythm.

Cheers and murmurs of relief filled the cabin. The danger had passed.

Cecilia smiled with joy. They were safe.

She turned to meet Daryl's deep gaze.

"I told you, I haven't lived enough to die with you," Cecilia said calmly, pulling her hand from Daryl's grip.

Daryl looked at his hand for a moment, then sneered, "If I had a choice, I wouldn't want to die with you either."

Cecilia frowned. This man, who had just held her hand so tightly, now spoke such words.

She turned away, ignoring him.

The cabin buzzed with excitement. Everyone was grateful to be alive.

But Daryl and Cecilia sat like statues, expressionless and unmoving.

An hour later, they exited the plane, Daryl striding ahead with Cecilia following about fifteen feet behind.

"Daryl!" someone called, waving as they exited the gate.
