Chapter 736 You Still Care About Him
After using the bathroom, Susan wanted to brush her teeth and wash her face. When she looked up, she realized the water heater wasn't plugged in.
She remembered that when she left in the morning, she had turned off the water heater because the voltage was unstable.
With such a large tank of water, it would take a long time to heat up. Annoyed, Susan had to use cold water to wash up.
Halfway through brushing her teeth, Susan suddenly realized that if the water heater wasn't plugged in, how did Seb take a shower earlier?
Susan stopped brushing her teeth and frowned. Did he take a cold shower?
It was winter now, and using cold water?
At that moment, Susan suddenly recalled his earlier physical reaction.
Thinking about it, Susan felt conflicted.
He would rather take a cold shower than force himself on her. It seemed he was restraining himself.
Thinking about taking a cold shower in this weather, Susan felt a bit sorry for him.
After washing up, Susan stepped out of the bathroom, her anger already half gone.
At this moment, Seb came over holding a steaming cup of coffee.
"Have a cup of hot coffee? I just brewed it," Seb said, his face now looking apologetic, as if the person who was angry earlier had disappeared.
"I don't have a coffee maker at home," Susan asked in surprise.
"I bought one this afternoon," Seb replied with a smile.
Looking at Seb in his loungewear, Susan was really afraid he might catch a cold, but she still curled her lips and said, "I already had several cups at work, I can't drink any more."
After saying that, Susan turned and walked into the bedroom.
Why did she start to feel guilty?
Susan leaned against the headboard, idly flipping through a book, but she couldn't concentrate on reading it.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on the bedroom door.
"Come in!" Susan had forgotten to lock the door.
The next moment, the door was gently pushed open, and Susan saw Seb walking in with a cup of hot tea.
"Have some black tea to warm you up?" Seb said, placing the tea on her bedside table but keeping a certain distance from her, looking cautious.
Seeing his cautious demeanor, Susan frowned and said, "Drinking tea at night? I won't be able to sleep."
Hearing this, Seb looked down at the tea in his hand and said, "You're right."
After saying that, he turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Susan shook her head, her eyes still on the book, but she couldn't read a single word.
A few minutes later, Seb came running back in.
Susan looked at him in confusion. This time, he was holding a glass of milky white liquid.
"A cup of hot milk before bed can't be wrong, right?" Seb smiled as he handed over the hot milk.
This time, Susan couldn't refuse, nor did she want to.
Hesitating for a moment, she reached out and took the cup from Seb. The cup was a bit hot, and her hand slipped.
"Careful not to burn yourself!" Seb quickly stepped forward, making a protective gesture with his hands, but he didn't actually touch Susan's hand.
"Thank you," Susan said, bringing the cup.
Knowing he had done the right thing this time, Seb scratched the back of his head and smiled. "Drink it up and get some rest. I'm heading out now."
Without waiting for Susan to respond, Seb walked out and closed the bedroom door behind him.
After Seb left, Susan looked down at the cup of milk, smiled, and then took a few sips.
To be honest, the hot milk was quite good. Susan then drank it all in one go.
That night, Susan slept very soundly. She wondered if it was because of the hot milk.
For three days straight, Seb took on all the household chores.
In the morning, he would prepare breakfast for Susan, and in the evening, he would come home early to cook. He also did the grocery shopping and bought household supplies, and he obediently slept on the couch at night.
Not only that, Seb became very well-behaved. Besides cooking and cleaning, he would serve Susan coffee and water, behaving like a perfect gentleman, not even touching her hand.
After a few days, Susan felt that Seb had changed. Was this really the Seb she knew? He was now a considerate man.
That morning, Susan ate the sandwich Seb had specially queued up to buy downstairs, and then happily went to work.
Susan didn't realize that she had been smiling for the past few days, her mood suddenly brightened, although she still kept a stern face in front of Seb.
As soon as she sat down in the office, Isabella walked in with a newspaper.
"Susan, did you see? Evergreen Ventures Group's stock has rebounded in the past two days," Isabella said, handing the newspaper to Susan.
"So quickly? Has the issue of Evergreen Ventures Group's tax evasion been resolved?" Susan asked in confusion, taking the newspaper.
"The newspaper says there was definitely tax evasion, but it wasn't serious. They just received a financial penalty, nothing major," Isabella replied.
Hearing this, Susan frowned. She thought, 'If Evergreen Ventures Group successfully gets out of trouble, will it affect Seb and Prosperity Group?'
"You're worried about Seb, aren't you?" Isabella asked with a smile, seeing Susan's worried expression.
"Worried about him? He can handle his own affairs," Susan retorted, tossing the paper aside with feigned indifference. "It's none of my business."
"You've been living together for several days, stop pretending," Isabella said, rolling her eyes.
"He has been sleeping on the couch," Susan patiently explained.
Isabella just laughed. "And you expect me to believe that? One night, maybe. But four or five nights in a row? Unless he's completely lost interest, I don't buy it."
Susan could only lower her head and mutter, "You've really been corrupted by Leon."
"Don't drag Leon into everything," Isabella laughed and then turned to leave.
That evening, Seb made Mexican food at home.
Susan was eating with her head down, enjoying her meal, when Seb suddenly received a phone call and went to sit on the couch to answer it.
"What? Buy your shares? At five percent above market value?" Seb's voice was sharp, his legs crossed, his demeanor confident. "The government is about to announce plans for that land beside the plot Evergreen Ventures bought last year. Botanical gardens, a hospital, an elementary school. It'll be public knowledge within a week. Evergreen's stock is set to jump by at least ten percent. Why would I sell now?"
Susan listened intently. It was clear that someone from Evergreen Ventures was trying to buy back the shares Seb held.
