Chapter 481 Unwilling to Leave

Seb shot back, "My folks had a massive blowout. It's gotten so bad they're talking divorce."

Susan's eyes widened. "For real?"

"They've been on the rocks for ages. Now they're just playing house."

Susan plopped down on the bed, hesitated, then asked, "If they split, who you gonna stay with?"

Seb chuckled. "Serious? I'm not a kid. I don't need to pick sides. They got their lives, and I got mine. It's just a pain, you know?"

"Okay, enough of that drama. Didn't you have some good news?" Susan quickly switched gears.

"Yeah, my mom's back in the central district. You can finally go home," Seb said, sounding pumped.

"Sweet, I can finally go home." Susan was stoked too, but she played it cool, not wanting Seb to get too cocky.

"Why do you sound so meh? Don't you wanna come back?" he asked, a bit jealous.

Susan laughed. "Isabella's place is tiny but super chill. After work, I just crash. Honestly, I'm kinda digging it."

"Dream on, girl. Get dressed, pack up, I'm coming to get you," Seb said, all serious.

Susan was floored. "Now? Are you nuts?"

"The car's already in the city. You can't sleep anyway, so why not come home?" Seb insisted.

Susan glanced at the bedroom. "No way, Isabella's out cold. My stuff's in her room. If I go in, I'll wake her. Plus, she'll totally roast me. Let's do it tomorrow."

"Forget the clothes and suitcase. Just come downstairs," he said.

Susan missed Seb and his hugs. She knew he was dying to see her, and a steamy night was on the cards. But if they went home now, they'd get zero sleep, and she'd be a zombie at work.

Nope, not happening.

So, she said, "Don't come over. Go home, shower, sleep. We got work tomorrow."

Seb paused, then sounded bummed. "You're so cold. Don't you miss me?"

Susan grinned, thinking he was like a kid. "I'll be home tomorrow. We got plenty of time, okay?"

She threw in a fake yawn for good measure.

Seb was quiet for a sec, then said, "Alright, sleep tight. I won't bug you."

Hearing the bummed-out tone in his voice, Susan had to cheer him up. "Come on, be good and head home!"

"Alright." Seb finally said before Susan hung up.

She snuggled into her warm bed, a smile on her face, his voice still echoing in her ears.

The next morning, after Susan and Isabella got ready, they headed out.

"How about some coffee and toast?" Isabella suggested.

Susan was all in. "Totally, I've been craving it."

They left the building together, chatting away.

Just as they stepped outside, a sleek black car rolled up.

Susan froze when she saw the black Bentley. It was Seb's car. She checked her watch; it wasn't even eight yet. What was he doing here so early?

Seb hopped out of the driver's seat, looking all smooth.

Isabella grinned. "Looks like you're taking the day off. I'll grab breakfast solo and leave you two lovebirds alone!"

With a wave, Isabella walked off, leaving Susan standing there.

"Why'd she bail so fast?" Susan muttered, still processing.

Seb walked up, smiling. "Why would she stick around? That'd be awkward."

Before Susan could reply, Seb grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the passenger seat.

She laughed, settled in, and buckled up.

Seb slid back into the driver's seat and fired up the engine.

"Why are you driving today? Where's Leon?" Susan asked.

After she said that, Seb leaned over, grabbed the back of her head, and kissed her hard.

The kiss was quick, intense, full of pent-up longing. Susan was caught off guard but quickly kissed him back.

Just as she was getting into it, Seb pulled away.

Susan looked at him, puzzled. Seb smirked. "Now you know how frustrating it is to be left hanging."

Susan blushed and playfully smacked his arm. "You're such a tease!"

"And that's why you love me." Seb grinned, hitting the gas and speeding off.

"When did you get here?" Susan guessed he must've gotten home around two in the morning, showered, and then got up early to pick her up. He probably hadn't slept much.

Feeling a mix of gratitude and guilt, Susan held his right hand with her left.

Seb smiled, feeling her warmth. "Last night."

Susan's eyes widened. "Wait, you came last night? Where did you sleep..."

She noticed the stubble on his chin and the wrinkles in his clothes. He hadn't freshened up. Did he sleep in the car?
