Chapter 1164 Still Unable to Breathe Normally

Barry and Cecilia's smiles, in the eyes of another person at this moment, were so glaring.

Daryl's sinister eyes were fixed on Barry and Cecilia, who were sitting by the window not far away. His hands were clenched into fists, and he felt as disgusted as if he had swallowed a fly.

She was laughing so happily at this moment, with tears almost streaming down her face.

He couldn't remember how long it had been since he had seen her laugh like this. The last time she was this happy was shortly after they met in Northstar City.

But now, her charming smile was directed at another man. Daryl's face was extremely gloomy. If it weren't for the sake of maintaining his composure, he would have rushed over to take Cecilia away.

Daryl frowned, then reached for his phone and made a call.

"Mr. Fields, what can I do for you?" Douglas' voice came from the other end after the call connected.

"By any means necessary, make this restaurant lose power immediately!" Daryl said, then hung up and angrily tossed his phone aside.

At this moment, the restaurant was quite busy, being the peak time of the day. Although Daryl knew this was not right and would inconvenience many people, he didn't care. He didn't want Cecilia smiling at another man.

Time ticked by, and Daryl's eyes were fixed on Cecilia and Barry by the window, especially glaring at Barry as if he were a mortal enemy.

Just then, the waiter served the main course to Cecilia and Barry's table, and then to Daryl's table.

Daryl placed some money on the waiter's tray and said, "Keep the change."

The power should go out any moment now, and paying the bill now would avoid the queue later.

"Thank you, sir." The waiter smiled warmly, seeing the generous tip.

A moment later, just as Cecilia picked up a piece of bread to eat, the entire restaurant plunged into darkness.

Then came the sounds of people sighing and complaining.

"Why did the power go out? It's rare for Maple Valley to have a blackout," Barry exclaimed in surprise.

"Maybe there's a fault somewhere?" Cecilia looked around at the pitch-black surroundings, unsure of what to do.

Fortunately, after a short while, restaurant staff came out with several flashlights to light up the passageways, preventing any trampling incidents, and repeatedly apologized, saying that the nearby power lines were down and asking guests to remain calm.

After a while, Cecilia said, "Barry, I don't think the power will come back on anytime soon. How about we pay the bill and leave?"

"Alright." Barry nodded.

Soon, many guests lost interest and began to pay their bills and leave.

Over half an hour later, Cecilia was sitting in Barry's car, arriving at her apartment building.

"Thank you, Barry," Cecilia said as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

"It was hard to get you out for a meal, and you didn't even get to eat properly. The bread there is really good, but with the power out, the waiters couldn't find any takeout boxes," Barry said apologetically.

Hearing this, Cecilia laughed. "There will be other chances. Girls shouldn't eat too much at night; it makes me gain weight."

"True, there will be other chances." Barry laughed.

"I'm going up now," Cecilia said with a smile.

At this moment, Barry glanced upstairs and suddenly said, "Next time, if it's convenient, can I come up for a cup of coffee?"

Hearing this, Cecilia couldn't help but laugh. "Of course, but I'll have to buy some coffee first. I don't have any at home."

"Alright, go on up. I'll wait until I see your light on before I leave," Barry said considerately.

"Okay," Cecilia didn't refuse and turned to enter the building.

Cecilia unlocked the door with her key, and just as she opened it and was about to step inside, she suddenly felt as if someone was watching her from behind.

She quickly turned around and, under the dim hallway light, saw a figure.

Cecilia gasped and clutched her chest.

The figure was terrifying, standing silently behind her.

However, the next moment, when Cecilia saw the face of the person standing in front of her, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Daryl suddenly standing in front of her, Cecilia was undeniably shocked, and her heart tightened inexplicably.

Cecilia had imagined countless times that she might run into him again someday.

But she always thought it was a ridiculous notion. Daryl was a big shot in Maple Valley, and someone like her, an ordinary worker, would never have the chance to meet him. So, this idea was just a fantasy to pass the time.

But when Daryl actually stood in front of her, Cecilia found she still couldn't breathe normally. He still had an impact on her.

However, Cecilia had also thought countless times that if he ever stood in front of her again, she would pretend not to know him, considering it was the only way to maintain her dignity.

Therefore, under the dim light, after their eyes met for half a second, Cecilia immediately turned and stepped inside, turning on the light because Barry was still downstairs, and she didn't want him to worry.

The next moment, Cecilia reached out to close the door.

But Daryl's large hand pressed against the door, stopping her from closing it.

"That Barry still hasn't given up on you?" Daryl's eyes were filled with obvious anger.

He had followed them all the way back, watching them chat and laugh. Daryl had already shown great restraint by not appearing while Barry was still there. Now he was simply furious.

Daryl's first words made Cecilia very annoyed. She coldly said, "What does that have to do with you?"

This made Daryl awkwardly press his lips together, then he urgently said, "Cecilia, I have something to say to you!"

But Cecilia firmly said, "Mr. Fields, I have nothing to say to you. Please leave my home immediately, or I'll call the cop and report you for trespassing!"

Daryl didn't take Cecilia's warning seriously at all.

At this moment, one of his feet was already inside the door, but Cecilia was blocking him from coming in.

"I don't believe you can be so heartless." Daryl's brows furrowed tightly, and his deep eyes were fixed on Cecilia.

Hearing this, Cecilia sneered, "Daryl, I have already cut all ties with you, so where does this idea of being heartless come from? In fact, you are the one who is the coldest!"

With that, Cecilia frowned at Daryl, then reached out and pushed him hard.
