Chapter 1144 Talking Back

"Ms. Thorne, Mr. Fields specifically instructed that you are not to go out!" Freya replied anxiously.

Hearing this, Cecilia frowned slightly.

In fact, she had already anticipated this. He was afraid she would escape again and definitely didn't want her to go out.

However, Cecilia was still very angry, thinking, 'Does he intend to keep me locked up forever? What I hate most is his domineering and self-righteous attitude.'

"He has no right to restrict my freedom!" Cecilia said indignantly.

Seeing Cecilia's angry expression, Freya raised her hands in the air anxiously and pleaded. "Ms. Thorne, please don't go out. If Mr. Fields finds out, I won't be able to explain it!"

Seeing Freya's anxious and fearful look, Cecilia's heart softened instantly.

Daryl was Freya's employer, and Cecilia shouldn't make things difficult for Freya.

So, the next moment, Cecilia reluctantly handed her handbag to Freya and said, "Alright, I won't go out."

Hearing this, Freya immediately hugged the bag and smiled. "Ms. Thorne, I know you are the kindest. I'll go make you some fresh juice right away. I bought the freshest oranges!"

After saying that, Freya put down the bag in her hand and turned to run into the kitchen.

Watching Freya's plump figure, Cecilia sighed inwardly.

To be honest, she was lucky to have Freya in this house; otherwise, she would have gone crazy.

In the following days, Cecilia didn't try to go out. She lived in this not-so-big house every day, with Freya's cheerful laughter in her ears.

Cecilia noticed that the copy of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" with Daryl's annotations was still on the bedside table. She picked it up and fliped through it, finding that Daryl had annotated a few more pages.

It seemed he still came here occasionally. Cecilia then put the book back in its place, not wanting to look at it again because it was related to Daryl.

But being confined in the house was really too monotonous and boring. The once stunning view of Maple Valley from the observation room had also become tiresome.

Every day, besides eating, sleeping, and watching shows, Cecilia really didn't know what else to do, so she was forced to pick up "One Hundred Years of Solitude" again.

At this moment, Cecilia suddenly heard a commotion outside.

Cecilia quickly put the book aside, then put on her slippers and stepped out of the master bedroom.

Sure enough, Daryl was standing in the middle of the living room, with Douglas holding bags of items and instructing Freya, who was coming to take them.

Seeing this scene, Cecilia glanced at Daryl.

She was just about to look for him, and here he was.

Cecilia glanced at the supplements in Douglas's hands and frowned slightly.

Cecilia knew these were bought for her, but she didn't feel grateful, believing he was doing it for their kid, not for her.

Seeing Douglas and Freya there, Cecilia didn't want to argue with Daryl in front of them, so she gave him a cold look. "I have something to say to you."

After saying that, Cecilia turned and went into the master bedroom.

Cecilia's attitude made Daryl lose face in front of Douglas and Freya. He reached up to loosen his tie before stepping after Cecilia.

Cecilia walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and crossed her arms over her chest.

Hearing the footsteps behind her, followed by the sound of the door closing.

Cecilia, with her back to Daryl, complained, "Daryl, how long do you intend to imprison me?"

Hearing this, Daryl stood in the middle of the bedroom for a long time before saying, "There's food and someone to take care of you here. Isn't that good?"

Hearing this, Cecilia got angry.

"Daryl, I'm not a bird or a sparrow. Even if you want to lock me in a cage, there should be a place for me to get some fresh air, right? I need to see the blue sky and white clouds too!" Cecilia suddenly turned around, her eyes glaring at Daryl.

Daryl stared at Cecilia for a while, then nodded and said, "I understand what you mean. You think this apartment is too small and not luxurious enough, right? No problem, I can immediately get you a villa with a garden. Will that do?"

Hearing the disdain and sarcasm in Daryl's tone, Cecilia got even angrier. Her voice also rose. "Daryl, your thinking is really unique. How could you come up with that!"

Daryl was also very irritated. He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looked outside for a while, then put his hands in his pockets and said in a calmer tone, "As long as you promise not to run away, I can let you go out."

Hearing this, Cecilia's resentment eased a bit. "You threatened me with my family. Do you think I would still dare to run away?"

"I don't want to do this either, but for my kid, I have no choice," Daryl replied.

The next moment, Cecilia said, "I have an appointment with Susan for coffee this afternoon."

"No problem, you can go. But don't think that just because Susan's husband has some influence in Maple Valley, you can ask her for help. For the sake of my kid, I will do whatever it takes, so you'd better not involve Susan!" Daryl continued to warn.

However, Cecilia was very disgusted by his warnings.

"Don't worry, I don't want to trouble my friends either," Cecilia no longer wanted to talk to him.

"That's for the best," Daryl said.

Cecilia glanced at Daryl, seeing that he had no intention of leaving.

Cecilia then said, "You are usually very busy, so don't waste your time here. By the way, you and Skylar are getting married in half a month, right? You should spend more time with your bride!"

Cecilia didn't know why she suddenly brought this up, but the words were already out and couldn't be taken back.

Hearing this, Daryl frowned deeply, his eyes clearly darkening. "You are the most generous mistress I've ever seen. When I really get married, you won't say that."

"Please don't call me a mistress. I never agreed to be anything to you. The only thing between us is this kid!" Cecilia sternly warned Daryl. The term "mistress" made Cecilia feel very hurt and humiliated.

However, Daryl's eyes were filled with dominance and confidence. "One day, you will willingly fall into my arms again. I have no doubt about that!"

"Let's wait and see, you arrogant man!" Cecilia said through gritted teeth.

At this moment, Cecilia's expression made Daryl suddenly burst into laughter.

A simple gesture or a word from Cecilia could make him suddenly laugh or suddenly angry.
