Chapter 361 Mixed Emotions

Linda pulled out a light blue card from the bouquet and read it aloud, "Even though a bunch of yellow roses can't make up for my screw-up, I'll let them say 'I'm sorry' for me every day until you forgive me."

Susan's brows knitted together.

Those words were actually from Seb?

Linda handed the card over to Susan.

Susan took it, staring blankly at the familiar handwriting.

She opened her mouth, but no words came out. She just handed the card back to Linda.

Linda took it and tucked it into her notebook like it was some kind of treasure.

Susan was puzzled. If Linda wanted to show off, why use an apology card? Shouldn't it be something mushier, like "I love you" or "I care about you"?

Linda looked up and smiled slightly. "Susan, tell Seb I don't blame him anymore. He doesn't need to send yellow roses every day. If he keeps it up for ten thousand days, I might just fall for him even more."

Susan sighed, "Linda, I don't see Seb much either. We divorced ages ago. We only meet because of the kids."

She couldn't meet Linda's eyes. Last night she had sex with Seb intensely. She touched the scarf around her neck, hoping the hickeys were hidden.

"Susan, don't be so modest in front of a loser like me, okay? You're just making me feel worse," Linda cut in.

Susan stared at Linda. The sorrow in Linda's eyes seemed real.

Linda turned to the window, gazing at the skyscrapers and blue sky. "Seb never admitted it, but I know his heart is with you. The way he looks at you is different. He'd do anything for you. Even when he stayed with me for three days at Azure Haven, his heart wasn't with me. I thought if I spent time with him, he'd fall for me."

"You're amazing, beautiful, and talented. I can't compare," Susan said sincerely.

Looking at Linda's delicate face, hearing her sweet voice, and feeling her deep affection, Susan's heart softened.

It seemed Seb had some self-control. Spending three days and nights with someone like Linda and not losing it? Susan's mood lifted.

"That's love for you. It's not about wealth, age, or looks. Seb's not shallow," Linda forced a smile.

"I don't know what he's thinking, but he must appreciate you too. I didn't realize he cared so much about your forgiveness," Susan said, moved by Linda's words. She believed Linda was different, not just after Seb for his status.

"You probably know he told everyone it was he who couldn't win me over. I know he did that to save me from embarrassment. But the more he does stuff like that, the more I like him. He's a stand-up guy. Susan, you're so lucky, it makes me jealous!" Linda said, looking straight at Susan.

Susan couldn't help but furrow her brows, then she smiled and said, "If you knew what kind of family I come from and what my childhood was like, you might not say that."

"But you have Seb's love and your two kids. That’s the kind of happiness I dream of, but it’s all yours," Linda said, her voice full of emotion.

"Linda," Susan started, wanting to comfort her.

But Linda cut her off, "Susan, by talking to you like this, I'm showing I don't resent you or blame Seb. You just met him first. I'll keep my feelings to myself. Alright, just pass on my message. You can go now; I need some time alone."

Linda turned to stare at the yellow roses on the table, ignoring Susan.

Susan looked at Linda for a few seconds, then wisely left.

Walking down the hallway with the document in her arms, Susan felt a mix of emotions.

The situation between Seb and Linda was clear, and Susan should be at ease. But seeing Linda so sad made her feel sympathetic. It was all Seb's fault for flirting around and causing so much pain for Linda!

Later that afternoon, Susan was worried about Spring, so she called Mary. "Mary, how's Spring doing?"

"Ms. Wilson, Spring hasn't had a fever all day, but she didn't sleep at all, so she just fell asleep now. She'll probably sleep until tomorrow morning, so I can't bring her to you today. If you're worried, you can come stay here," Mary said with a smile.

Susan was stunned, then quickly dismissed the idea. She wanted to avoid Seb right now; how could she possibly go there? Thinking about last night made her blush.

"Mary, with you taking care of Spring, I have no worries. I have something to do tonight, so I won't come over." With that, Susan hung up the phone.

At the end of the workday, Susan decided to visit Catherine's house. She had been busy with work and stressed about the Skyreach Group case. She didn't want Catherine to worry, so she hadn't gone back. Tonight, she didn't have to take care of Spring, so she could spend some quality time with Catherine.

After work, Susan left through the back door.

She bought fruits, veggies, and meat, then called a cab straight to Catherine's house.

"Mom!" Susan greeted Catherine happily as soon as she walked in.

Catherine smiled, "You haven't come to see me in so many days!"
