Chapter 842 Shouldn't You Show Some Appreciation

Right then, the air felt thick with tension, messing with both their heads.

Seb's brow furrowed as he stared at Susan. He'd never felt this way with Ellie before.

He couldn't wrap his head around why he was so drawn to her now. His emotions were all over the place.

Susan started to freak out.

She pulled her hand away from Seb's and said softly, "You do it yourself."

Seb finished buttoning up his shirt.

"I'm leaving," he said.

Susan quickly looked up. "I'll go with you to the clinic?"

Seb frowned at her.

Thinking he didn't want her to come, Susan hurriedly added, "Don't worry, I'll leave right after you get bandaged. I won't be a bother!"

Seb sighed, feeling something he couldn't quite explain.

"Suit yourself," he muttered, his face darkening as he walked out of the bathroom.

Susan followed him out.

Seb walked out of the club like nothing had happened, with Susan trailing behind.

Just as the driver opened the car door for Seb, a guy in a black uniform came up.

"Hold it right there!" Seb stopped and turned to see who it was.

Susan stood next to him.

Cameron walked up and said to Susan, "I checked with HR. We haven't hired any new staff recently. Who are you? Did you sneak into our private club to steal trade secrets?"

Susan's face turned red, caught in her lie. She had no idea how to explain.

"Mr. Simmons, I didn't mean to deceive you, I just..." Susan stammered, searching for an excuse.

Seb glanced between Cameron and Susan, who was looking down, lost for words. He finally got what was happening.

Seeing Susan stammer, unable to offer a reasonable explanation, Cameron grabbed her wrist and snarled, "You must be a spy from our competitors. You're coming with me to the police station!"

"Mr. Simmons, you've got it wrong! I'm not here to steal any secrets!" Susan protested, panicking.

But Cameron wouldn't let up and insisted on taking her to the police station.

Desperate, Susan looked at Seb, who was watching her with a smirk. Furious, she pointed at him. "It was him! He sent me. If you have questions, ask him!"

Seb looked confused.

"He said he was opening a private club to compete with yours and sent me to gather info. It's not my fault; he set it all up!" Susan accused, pointing at Seb.

Seeing Seb's bewildered expression, Susan felt a twisted sense of satisfaction.

But looking at the scale and luxury of this club, the owner had to be loaded and well-connected. Even if Seb was a big deal in Maple Valley, he'd probably have to work a bit to handle this.

Cameron glanced at Seb, then let go of Susan's wrist. Though surprised, he still asked respectfully, "Mr. Anderson, is what this woman said true?"

Susan knew Cameron must recognize Seb. If Seb denied knowing her, she'd be in deep trouble.

She felt a wave of anxiety. This could blow up, and she might even get detained.

Susan looked at Seb with hopeful eyes, praying he wouldn't hold a grudge and would help her out.

Seb stared at Susan with a blank expression, making her even more nervous. She saw a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Then, Seb smiled at Cameron and said, "Mr. Simmons, I heard your boss wants to open a club in Xanadu City. I'm really into clubs, so I wanted to invest. Today, I sent an employee from the Prosperity Group to check it out. Please pass this message to your boss."

Cameron immediately became more respectful. "Mr. Anderson, so you want to invest in our club. Our boss has always wanted to find someone influential in Xanadu City to collaborate with. Given your extensive connections, we never even imagined we'd have the chance to work with you. Clubs are just for fun and don't make as much money as your industries. I'm sure our boss will be thrilled to hear this. I'll call him right away!"

"I have other things to do today. Have your boss contact me later," Seb said, then got into the car.

"Mr. Anderson, take care!" Cameron nodded and bowed, smiling at Seb in the car.

Susan was surprised Seb resolved the issue so easily, but at least she was safe now and owed him one.

She got into the back seat, passing by Cameron.

"Take care, take care!" Cameron flattered Susan as he closed the car door for her.

Susan gave Cameron a sideways glance, thinking his attitude changed way too fast.

The car slowly drove onto the road.

No one spoke. Susan glanced at Seb, who was leaning back with his eyes slightly closed, resting.

Just as she looked away, an arm reached over.

"What are you doing?" Susan asked, surprised.

Seb gave her a look. "I helped you out of a big mess. Shouldn't you show some appreciation?"

"Appreciation? How?" Susan looked at his strong arm on her lap, her mind jumping to bad conclusions.

In the past, he always wanted her to show appreciation by sleeping with him.

Susan suddenly tensed up, wondering, 'Has he forgotten me and turned into a horny man? Is he seriously asking for sex in the car?'
