Chapter 600 Evasion
Since that day, Susan never came home late again and avoided going to secluded places alone. Andrew probably realized that she wouldn't be an accomplice to his schemes, hadn't bothered her again.
George also never appeared again. Though she sometimes caught herself turning around on the street, half-expecting to see him, he was never there.
Susan had a feeling that George was always caring about her. Sometimes she felt like someone was watching her, but it was just a feeling; she never actually discovered anyone following her.
Susan knew she was becoming a bit sensitive, so she buried herself in work and spent her free time with the kids.
Fortunately, hard work paid off, and the accounting firm was thriving. After so many years, she finally had some achievements in her career, which brought her some comfort.
One weekend morning, Susan bought food and toys and went to the villa to see Hayden and Spring.
The day before, she had called Kathy and found out that Seb would be inspecting a neighboring city early today, so she felt at ease to visit them.
Since it would take until evening for Seb to return from the neighboring city, Susan planned to spend the whole day at the villa with the two kids.
To be honest, such opportunities were rare. The thought of spending a whole day with Hayden and Spring made Susan very happy.
"You're here! Mr. Anderson left twenty minutes ago." Kathy, who opened the door, smiled when she saw Susan.
Susan nodded knowingly at Kathy and then cheerfully entered the living room with her things.
"Hayden? Spring?" Susan called out as she walked in.
Hearing Susan's voice, Hayden and Spring ran towards her almost simultaneously.
Seeing Hayden and Spring running towards her, Susan's heart leaped with joy.
Hayden hugged Susan's waist, and Spring, being smaller, hugged her leg. Both of them shouted, "Mommy!"
"Good boy, Hayden. Good girl, Spring." Susan patted Hayden's head and then Spring's, finally holding each of their hands as they walked to the sofa.
"Look what I bought for you." Susan said as she took out various snacks from her bag.
"Yogurt? And sushi." Hayden took them and shared with Spring.
Watching Hayden and Spring eat with such delight, Susan's eyes were fixed on them, afraid to miss a single moment.
Seeing this, Kathy poured a glass of water and placed it in front of Susan. She smiled and said, "These past two days, Hayden and Spring have been asking when you would come back. I had to tell them you'd visit on the weekend, and they kept asking when the weekend would come!"
Hearing this, Susan turned to Kathy and said, "Kathy, thank you and Mary for taking such good care of the kids."
"It's our duty!" Kathy replied with a smile.
At this moment, Hayden suddenly looked up and said, "Mommy, the preschool teacher wants parents to teach the kids to make crafts. Can you help me make one?"
"Sure, what kind of craft should we make for the teacher?" Susan asked with a smile.
"The teacher gave us a lot of reference materials. They're in my bedroom. You can go get them and take a look." Hayden said.
"Okay." Susan replied and then stood up, heading to Hayden's bedroom.
Entering Hayden's bedroom, Susan looked around the desk and the drawer in the nightstand but couldn't find the reference materials Hayden mentioned.
Susan called out, "Hayden, where did you put the materials the teacher gave you?"
"In my backpack!" Hayden shouted back from outside.
"Got it." Susan replied, then took Hayden's backpack.
Opening the backpack, she found a stack of materials. Susan smiled and took them out, then turned to leave the bedroom.
Just as she reached the bedroom door, Susan suddenly saw a figure walk into the living room from the foyer.
Seeing the figure, Susan's heart skipped a beat, and almost instinctively, she quickly closed the bedroom door!
Seb, wearing a white shirt, suddenly appeared in the living room, startling Kathy.
"Mr. Anderson? Weren't you going to inspect the neighboring city?" Kathy asked nervously upon seeing Seb.
Seb looked around, his brows furrowed, and his expression unnatural. He didn't answer Kathy's question and just stood there in a daze.
At that moment, Susan was standing behind the slightly ajar bedroom door.
Seeing that familiar figure through the crack, Susan felt a wave of panic, her legs even trembling a bit.
"Oh, I forgot an important document, so I came back to get it." Seb finally answered after a while.
Then, Seb turned and went upstairs.
At this moment, Kathy ran to Hayden's bedroom door and pushed it open.
"Mr. Anderson suddenly came back. Why don't you go out and see him?" Kathy suggested kindly.
Susan quickly shook her head. "Don't tell him I'm here!"
"But..." Kathy frowned upon hearing this.
"He's coming down. Go and stall him!" Susan said as she pushed Kathy out of the room.
Just then, Seb came downstairs with a document in hand.
Seb glanced at the slightly ajar door of Hayden's bedroom, then walked over to Hayden and Spring, who were eating snacks at the coffee table.
"Daddy, do you want some sushi?" Hayden offered a piece of sushi to Seb.
Seb looked at the sushi, then patted Hayden and Spring's heads, smiling. "I don't want any. You guys eat."
"This sushi is really delicious!" Hayden said, eating voraciously.
At this moment, Seb suddenly asked Hayden, "Who bought the sushi for you?"
As he spoke, his eyes swept over the many snacks on the coffee table.
"It was..." Hayden was about to say Susan.
Kathy quickly interrupted, "I just went out and bought it for them."
Hearing this, Seb's eyes scrutinized Kathy.
Probably feeling guilty, Kathy quickly lowered her head. "I'll go get some water for Hayden and Spring."
With that, Kathy hurried into the kitchen.
At this moment, Susan, standing behind the slightly ajar door, was extremely nervous, afraid he would discover her.
Actually, didn't she want to see him? She just didn't know how to face him now.
When they divorced, she had told him they would never see each other again.
Because if they did, she wouldn't be able to control her emotions, and they would end up in a painful entanglement again.
