Chapter 1124 Reunion

While eating, Marcella and Cecilia started talking about Calista.

"Calista is the type who likes to flatter those above her and bully those below. She's always sucking up to Seraphine, but she bullies everyone else. We all just put up with it," Marcella said with a sneer.

"I think she really doesn't like me," Cecilia said, frowning.

Although Calista was usually arrogant to everyone in the team, she seemed to be especially harsh on Cecilia.

"That's because she's jealous that you're prettier and kinder than she is!" Marcella laughed.

Hearing this, Cecilia laughed.

Seeing Cecilia's amused expression, Marcella quickly explained, "It's true. She can't stand seeing girls prettier than her, afraid they'll steal her spotlight. She thinks she's good-looking, but she dresses so tacky every day!"

Cecilia laughed again.

Calista was actually quite good-looking, but her tacky dressing was indeed a problem. Cecilia always felt something was off about Calista's attire but couldn't pinpoint it. Marcella's comment made her realize that—her tops were always way too low-cut.

Then, Marcella whispered to Cecilia, "Did you know? I heard Calista is pursuing Seraphine's son."

Cecilia was taken aback and shook her head in confusion. She had just joined the company and didn't know much about the gossip.

"Didn't know, right? The stack of manuscripts Calista gave you to illustrate this afternoon is for an artist. That artist is Seraphine's son," Marcella said mysteriously.

Hearing this, Cecilia suddenly understood.

No wonder Calista wanted her to find those manuscripts so quickly; the artist she admired was coming this afternoon.

Seeing Cecilia's puzzled look, Marcella added, "Seraphine's son is a super handsome guy. Seraphine's husband is a foreigner, so her son is mixed-race and a top student who studied abroad. He now has his own art studio in Maple Valley. Plus, Seraphine's husband is a businessman with a lot of money. Otherwise, why would Calista, who has such high standards, be interested in him?"

Cecilia replied, "But he has to be interested in Calista too."

"You don't get it, do you? It's tough for a guy to chase a girl, but easy for a girl to chase a guy. And with Calista dressing so provocatively every day, who knows, maybe Seraphine's son likes it!" Marcella analyzed.

Hearing this, Cecilia said, "If she succeeds, that's good. Maybe Calista can become a rich lady and won't have to work so hard in the team anymore."

Marcella immediately slapped the table. "Right, I didn't think of that! Then we won't have to be under her management anymore!"

Sensing Marcella so excited, Cecilia laughed.

"Let's hope Calista can catch that mixed-race guy. Although it would be a bit of a win for her, at least we won't have to see her gloomy face every day!" Marcella rolled her eyes.

"Alright, let's eat quickly. It's almost time to go back to work." Cecilia urged with a smile.

Marcella then gobbled down her food and didn't forget to say to Cecilia, "When that mixed-race guy comes, I'll let you see that handsome guy!"

Cecilia smiled. She wasn't interested in any handsome guy right now; she just hoped her baby would stop making her feel so nauseous every day. She felt like she was going through hell.

After lunch, Cecilia and Marcella returned to the company just in time for work.

Cecilia handed her completed work to Calista. For once, Calista didn't nitpick and took the documents, then started touching up her makeup.

Back at her desk, Cecilia saw Marcella giving her a knowing look.

Cecilia took a closer look at Calista and noticed she had changed her clothes; it wasn't the same outfit she wore in the morning.

Calista had taken the lunch break to go home and change, clearly putting effort into impressing the mixed-race guy.

Calista's outfit was still in her usual style—a long dress with a low neckline showing some cleavage. Her hair was styled, and she wore big earrings, a big necklace, and a big ring.

Cecilia noticed that Calista didn't work as usual for half the afternoon. Instead, she seemed restless, frequently going to the door to check, probably waiting for the mixed-race guy.

After typing for a long time, Cecilia suddenly felt a wave of nausea and quickly went to the restroom.

She didn't dare vomit at the sink, so she had to hug the toilet in a stall. After vomiting, she felt a bit better.

Looking at her face in the mirror, she saw she didn't look too pale, so she walked out of the restroom.

As Cecilia reached the office door, she noticed a commotion inside.

A tall figure stood in front of Calista's desk, and Calista was standing beside him.

"Barry, these manuscripts need illustrations. Thank you for your hard work!" Calista said gently, her voice unusually soft.

Cecilia was stunned. She had worked with Calista for over a week and had never seen her so approachable, thinking the power of love was indeed amazing.

"You're welcome. It's my job," Barry said in a deep voice.

Hearing this voice, Cecilia was stunned again.

She thought, 'The voice is so familiar. What does Calista call this mixed-race guy? Barry? Oh my, could it be?'

The next moment, Cecilia looked up at the tall man's back, feeling his back was indeed very familiar.

Although he hadn't turned around, Cecilia was already sure this person was Barry.

"Barry, would you like coffee or tea?" Calista's eyes couldn't leave Barry.

Everyone in the room felt goosebumps because they had never seen Calista so gentle. It felt strange.

"I like the tea. Thank you," Barry said generously, showing no reaction to Calista's various attempts to flirt.

"Okay! Which kind? I know you like tea, so I prepared over a dozen kinds," Calista said with a smile.

"Anything is fine," Barry said, raising an eyebrow.

The next moment, Calista turned and shouted, "Cecilia, quickly make a cup of tea!"
