Chapter 934 Confession
These days, Isabella and Alfonso were getting pretty close.
But to Isabella, this whole thing was just a tight friendship, nothing romantic.
She knew her last tie with Leon was cut. Even though she thought about him during those quiet nights, she knew it was time to move on.
So, after work one day, Isabella asked Alfonso to take her to a hair salon. She wanted a fresh start with a new haircut.
As she watched her long hair hit the floor, Isabella felt ready for a new beginning.
About half an hour later, Alfonso came to pick her up and saw her with a neat, short haircut.
"How do I look?" Isabella asked with a smile.
"Fresh, beautiful, and neat," Alfonso replied.
"That's how I feel too," Isabella said, smiling.
"How about I treat you to dinner tonight?" Alfonso suddenly suggested.
"Why?" Isabella asked, raising an eyebrow.
"To celebrate your new look," Alfonso said with a grin.
Isabella couldn't help but smile. "Alright, I accept your invitation."
"Let's go," Alfonso said, gently pushing her out of the salon.
Isabella knew she would've struggled without Alfonso's support lately. He was always there for her, and she was really grateful.
Alfonso was genuinely kind and thoughtful. To Isabella, he felt like an old friend she could always rely on.
They sat across from each other at dinner. After the food arrived, Alfonso pulled out a bouquet of vibrant red roses from seemingly nowhere and handed them to Isabella.
Isabella was taken aback, staring at the beautiful flowers under the restaurant's lights.
"For you," Alfonso said warmly.
Seeing the look in his eyes, Isabella took the bouquet and smiled. "Why the flowers? Wouldn't an extra dish have been better?"
Alfonso's face turned serious. "You really don't like romance, do you?"
"I'm not a kid anymore; who needs romance?" Isabella said, pouting as she admired the flowers.
At that moment, she thought of Leon. 'Why didn't he ever give me flowers?'
She shook her head, annoyed that Leon still occupied her thoughts. She'd even cut her hair to move on, so why couldn't she forget him?
"We're both single. Wouldn't it make sense for us to be together? It'd solve a lot of problems," Alfonso said, half-jokingly.
Isabella's eyes widened. "Are you kidding? You're amazing and wealthy. We're not even in the same league!"
Seeing she didn't take him seriously, Alfonso frowned and said, "What if I'm serious?"
Isabella was momentarily stunned by his serious expression.
Looking down at the red roses, she felt confused. 'Is he confessing to me?'
Seeing Isabella's confused look, Alfonso spoke up again, "I'm really happy with the blind date my cousin set up. Now I just need to know what you think."
Isabella finally got it. Alfonso was confessing to her.
She frowned. Honestly, if Leon hadn't come into the picture, she'd probably be all in for Alfonso. He was everything she dreamed of in a partner.
Single for so long, she should have jumped at the chance when a guy like Alfonso confessed.
But now, she hesitated. She was trying to figure out how to turn him down because her heart was still tangled up with Leon.
Seeing her frown, Alfonso chuckled and said, "I get why you've been single for so long. You're slow to realize your feelings, huh? I'm confessing here. Do I need to spell it out with cheesy lines?"
"I..." Isabella snapped out of her thoughts and stammered, "Alfonso, don't joke like that, I..."
"I'm dead serious. I want you to be my girlfriend, with marriage in mind," Alfonso said.
Isabella's eyes widened.
Why didn't Alfonso show up before Leon? If he had, she'd probably be married with kids by now, not still single.
Under Alfonso's gaze, Isabella put the bouquet aside and frowned. "Alfonso, I..."
"You don't have to answer right now. Take your time," Alfonso said quickly.
Seeing his sincere face, Isabella said, "Alfonso, I don't want to lie to you. There's someone else in my heart."
Alfonso frowned. "Does he like you back?"
Isabella gave a bitter smile. "I don't know."
Honestly, she didn't think Leon liked her. But why did he take care of her if he didn't like her? She couldn't figure it out. Maybe he didn't dislike her, but he didn't like her either?
"A crush?" Alfonso asked.
Isabella looked at him and said, "Do you think I'm silly?"
"No, there's nothing wrong with liking someone," Alfonso said.
Isabella touched her hair and said, "But I'm trying to forget him."
Looking at her short hair, Alfonso asked, "Did you cut your hair because of him?"
"Yeah." Isabella nodded.
"Then you have deep feelings for him." Alfonso's eyes showed a hint of regret and jealousy.
"Alfonso, I'm telling you this not to hurt you, but because I don't want to lie," Isabella said apologetically.
"I appreciate your honesty," Alfonso said, looking at her.
"Really?" Isabella held her glass, feeling a bit lost.
"I really want to know who he is. Honestly, I'm super jealous. Is there no chance for you two?" Alfonso asked, frowning.
Isabella pursed her lips and shook her head. "Absolutely none."
Hearing this, Alfonso frowned, then smiled. "You've just had a crush. I've got plenty of time to wait for you to sort out your feelings and start liking me!"
