Chapter 1052 A Vain Woman
Cecilia felt a chill in her chest. Looking down, she saw that her sweater had been torn apart by him.
The next moment, Cecilia frowned, and in a moment of desperation, she raised her hand and slapped Daryl.
A crisp slap echoed in the air.
Daryl stopped all his actions, his eyes fixed on the disheveled Cecilia.
Cecilia looked down at her hand. She regretted hitting him, but she had no choice. If she let him do that, all the good things between them would be gone.
Then, Cecilia suddenly covered her mouth, turned around, and ran out of the bedroom.
Long after Cecilia left, Daryl suddenly let out a mad scream and then punched the wardrobe hard.
The wardrobe door was left with a big dent.
Daryl's eyes were filled with immense pain. Cecilia was the only girl he had ever loved in his life. He had wanted to grow old with her, believing she was his lifelong partner. But he realized he was wrong about her; she was just another vain woman, no different from those who surrounded him back home.
Normally, he would disdain such women and never touch them again. But this time, he couldn't control his emotions. Even though he knew she liked money, he still wanted to get close to her. Thinking he just wanted her to regret it, to take revenge on her, he couldn't let this woman who toyed with his feelings get away with it.
Ten minutes later, Daryl walked out of the villa with a cold expression.
The driver, Douglas Campbell, saw Daryl coming out and quickly opened the back door of the car.
After Daryl got in, Douglas received a phone call and hurriedly handed the phone to Daryl. "Mr. Daryl Fields, it's Mr. Isaac Fields on the phone!"
Hearing this, Daryl reached out and took the phone from Douglas.
"Dad," Daryl said softly.
"Daryl, you said you wanted to take over the business in Northstar City. I'm very pleased with your decision. I know you like something about civil engineering. You can have your personal interests, but it doesn't conflict with taking over the family business, right?" It was Daryl's father's voice on the other end.
"I didn't understand your intentions before," Daryl said.
Previously, Daryl had no interest in the family business, so he had come to Northstar City to pursue a Ph.D., to avoid the business disputes.
However, Cecilia's choice deeply upset Daryl. Didn't Cecilia like wealthy people? Didn't she favor those who could wield power and influence? He could be that kind of person too, he just chose not to.
"Okay, in the next few days, you will take full charge of the business there. If you have any questions, call me anytime. I have an appointment now, so I'll hang up!" With that, Isaac happily hung up.
After hanging up, Daryl instructed Douglas, who was driving, "Have someone keep an eye on her every move."
"Who?" Douglas was momentarily stunned, then quickly understood his meaning and nodded. "Yes."
Cecilia ran back to her rented apartment in one breath.
Looking down at her torn sweater, Cecilia's tears began to flow.
Although she had only been with Daryl for two months, Cecilia could feel the affection he had for her.
Northstar City's winter was very cold. Noticing her dressed thinly, Daryl would take off his coat and drape it over her, even if it meant catching a cold himself.
She liked the food from a particular restaurant, and Daryl would ride his bike for half an hour to get it for her.
There were many such things. Cecilia thought she had found a lifelong partner, but she didn't expect they would end up like this.
Thinking back to Daryl's cold gaze just now, she still felt a chill all over.
At this moment, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Cecilia quickly wiped her tears and called out, "Who is it?"
"Cecilia, it's Violet." Came the reply from outside.
Violet Cooper was a girl from Sunshine Bay City who shared the apartment with Cecilia. They attended the same school and were good friends.
Cecilia adjusted her torn sweater and opened the door, holding her breast.
"Violet, what's up?" Cecilia tried to make her expression more natural.
But Violet noticed Cecilia's red and swollen eyes and couldn't help but ask, "Cecilia, what's wrong? Have you been crying?"
"Oh, it's nothing, I just miss home a bit." Cecilia quickly covered up.
Hearing this, Violet believed her. "I miss home too. Stay strong. By the way, didn't you ask me to help you find a high-paying job? A friend of mine said a bar is hiring waitstaff. The working hours are from 5 PM to 2 AM, and if you do well, you can earn over three thousand dollars a month. But sometimes you might encounter drunk people, and the hours are a bit late. Are you interested?"
Hearing about such a high salary, Cecilia quickly nodded. "Sure, I'd like to give it a try."
"Here's the address. You can go for an interview when you have time." Violet handed a note to Cecilia.
"Thank you, Violet," Cecilia said gratefully as she took the note.
"You're welcome." Violet smiled and turned back to her room.
Cecilia looked at the note in her hand and frowned. The job paid well, and no matter how hard it was, she had to do it.
Cecilia then opened her wardrobe, found some clothes, and went for the job interview.
She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. She knew she had no right to cry or to fall in love. She had to support herself and send money back home.
Over three thousand dollars a month meant she could earn forty thousand dollars a year. If she worked hard for three years, she could buy a house for Quentin and help him get married.
Fifteen minutes later, Cecilia left the house wearing a black wool coat.
Cecilia had a tall figure and a good appearance, so the bar owner agreed to hire her as soon as they met. That evening, Cecilia started working at the bar.
The bar was called Passion Pit Pub, a name that was very enticing and fitting for the bar's atmosphere. Many people came to this bar looking for flings, especially at night, when many women dressed provocatively came looking for temporary partners.
Therefore, the bar was naturally a mix of all kinds of people and quite chaotic. But many people frequented it because of its chaos and the chance for flings.
But Cecilia had no choice because she needed the money.
