Chapter 974 Wherever you and the baby are, that's where my home is

An hour later, the car rolled to a stop in front of Isabella's building.

Leon hopped out first and offered his hand to help Isabella.

She glanced at his hand, frowned a bit, and then decided to get out on her own, using the car door for support.

Leon's brows knitted together as he watched her cold demeanor.

Once she was steady, Isabella turned to Leon and said icily, "Don't come looking for me anymore. The baby and I don't want to see you!"

"Isabella," Leon started, clearly anxious to explain.

But as he stepped forward, Isabella took a step back, ignoring him.

Seeing this, Leon stepped back to where he was, not wanting to upset her further. He looked at her with pained eyes but stayed silent.

Isabella rolled her eyes at him and headed upstairs, holding her waist.

Lying on her bed, Isabella felt like she had just been through a nightmare. Her whole body felt weak, and she hadn't yet shaken off the feeling.

She looked down at her swollen belly, gently caressing it with worry. All she could do now was hope that God would keep her baby healthy.

For half the day, Isabella lay in bed, not feeling hungry or wanting to get up, just lying there lost in thought.

In the evening, a few claps of thunder echoed outside, followed by the sound of rain.

Having not eaten or drunk anything all day, the baby in her belly started to get restless.

Isabella slowly got out of bed, put on her shoes, and held her belly as she made her way to the kitchen for some water.

As she poured a glass, she glanced outside and saw a familiar figure standing downstairs.

The sky outside was a somber gray, with rain falling in a steady drizzle. Leon stood still, letting the downpour soak him completely.

Seeing Leon, Isabella was startled.

She had been back for half a day, and he had been standing there the whole time.

Isabella frowned. It had already been four or five hours.

Looking at Leon standing like a statue in the rain, Isabella felt a bit soft-hearted but still resolutely walked out of the kitchen with her water glass.

Night fell quickly, and Isabella turned on the lights. The house felt dim even with the lights on.

The wind and rain outside didn't let up with the arrival of night; instead, it grew heavier, turning into a downpour.

Isabella's brows furrowed tightly as she looked at the storm outside.

Knowing Leon, she knew he wouldn't leave easily.

But she wasn't ready to forgive him just like that, as if nothing had happened.

She was still angry that he hadn't told her sooner. Why couldn't people who love each other be honest? Isabella couldn't accept his excuse of doing it for her own good.

After an hour, Isabella, whose legs had gone numb from sitting by the bed, slowly got up and found herself walking towards the kitchen.

Her heart had been in knots for the past hour, and seeing him in the rain tugged at her heartstrings, even though she was still deeply hurt.

Standing by the kitchen window, Isabella watched the trees outside swaying wildly in the heavy wind and rain. She looked down and, sure enough, Leon was still there, standing in the storm, not budging an inch.

The rain was relentless, drenching Leon completely. It was so heavy he could barely keep his eyes open. Water streamed down his face, pooling at his chin. Every now and then, he'd wipe the rain away and squint up at Isabella's window.

She thought, 'How could someone be so foolish? Does he really think this will make me forgive him?'

Feeling annoyed, Isabella turned away, trying to ignore him.

But despite her irritation, the next moment she found herself grabbing an umbrella, opening the door, and running downstairs.

In the wind and rain, Isabella appeared in front of Leon with the umbrella.

Seeing her, Leon's brows furrowed, his eyes locked on her, and then he ran towards her, a look of joy on his face.

When he reached her, he shouted over the noise of the rain, "What are you doing out here? Go back inside!"

The rain was so loud that Isabella could barely hear him, but his concern made her feel a bit emotional.

Instead of retreating, Isabella stepped forward and held the umbrella over Leon's head.

"You go back home!" she shouted at him.

The small umbrella couldn't cover both of them, and the rain was already soaking Isabella.

Leon frowned and reached out to grab Isabella's hand, which was clutching the umbrella. He moved the umbrella to cover her almost completely, leaving himself partially exposed to the rain.

When he grabbed her hand, Isabella tried to pull it away, but Leon held on tightly.

She frowned and shouted again, "Did you hear me? Go home!"

But Leon just smiled and shouted back, "Wherever you and the baby are, that's my home!"

Hearing this, Isabella couldn't help but feel moved.

His words struck a chord. What she had always longed for was a family, and his words made her yearn for it even more.

At that moment, their eyes met, and in the wind and rain, they only had eyes for each other.

And in that moment, Isabella made a decision.

From now on, she would face the unpredictable future with him. Whether it was happy or not, at least she would have someone to support her along the way.

Touching her swollen belly, she knew the baby was already on its way, and she couldn't change that. She could only do her best to raise this child.

Since that was the case, she decided to let go of the past and spend every day happily with Leon, who loved her deeply.

She didn't understand how she, who had been in so much pain just moments ago, suddenly had such an epiphany.

Seeing the smile on Isabella's face, Leon hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and touched her cheek with his wet hand.

"Isabella, have you forgiven me?" he asked, closing the distance between them.

Isabella glared at him but spoke in a gentler tone, "It's so cold out here. Can we go upstairs to talk?"

It was already early autumn, and the night rain was very cold. Isabella was still wearing a thin maternity dress, so she naturally couldn't stand it.
