Chapter 255 Unveiling the Truth

Turning to Seb, Susan stated firmly, "Seb, Hayden's just a kid. Don't use him for your goals. It's bad for his mental health and sets a terrible example."

She then squatted down, grabbed Hayden's hand, and said softly, "Hayden, I'm not your mommy. Stop calling me that."

Seeing tears in Hayden's eyes, Susan stood up and walked away, trying not to look back.

"Susan, Hayden is our first child. He didn't die when you gave birth to him!" Seb called out as she walked away.

Susan stopped but didn't turn around. The loss of that child had been a huge blow, and she still thought about it often.

Seb stepped closer and continued, "If you want to know everything, come to me anytime."

"Why should I believe you?" Susan replied, still skeptical.

"Believe it or not, you've missed over three years of his life. Do you want to miss his whole childhood?" Seb said, taking Hayden's hand and leaving.

Susan couldn't help but turn around. She saw Seb and Hayden walking away, their backs almost identical. Hayden looked back at her with longing eyes, making her heart ache.

She stood there until they disappeared, then turned and left.

Around the corner, she saw George by the car. She hurried over.

"Why did it take so long?" George asked, grabbing her arm.

"The child wouldn't let go of me," Susan said with a smile.

"Did you find his father?" George frowned.

"His father took him away. Let's go back; Spring must be anxious," Susan said.

"Alright," George said, getting into the car with her.

That night, Susan lay in bed, looking at the sleeping Spring. Her mind wandered as she couldn't stop thinking about Hayden.

Without a DNA test, just by looking at Hayden, she knew he was Seb's son. But why did Seb say Hayden was her son?

Hayden was born in winter, and his birth date was close to when she gave birth.

Could it be a coincidence? Could Seb have had a child with another woman at the same time?

What was Seb up to? If Hayden was really her child, why lie about his death? And why reveal it now, just as she was about to marry George?

At first, Susan thought Seb was using Hayden to mess up her wedding plans. But after a sleepless night, her doubts grew. Deep down, she hoped Seb was telling the truth—that Hayden was her son.

She desperately wanted her child to be alive. Even if Seb had some scheme, she didn't care. She just wanted her child back.

By morning, Susan made up her mind: she had to find Seb and get to the bottom of this.

Looking at the sleeping Spring, she softly said, "Spring, would you like a brother to play with?"

Spring's chubby face remained serene. Susan gazed at her for a moment before declaring, "No matter what, I need to find out if Hayden is my son."

As soon as it was light, Susan called Leon.

"Hello, who is this?" Leon answered.

"Mr. Johnson, it's Susan," she said, gripping the phone nervously.

"Ms. Wilson?" Leon sounded surprised.

"I need to see Seb as soon as possible. Can you schedule it?" Susan asked.

Leon paused, then said, "Alright, Ms. Wilson. I'll contact Mr. Anderson and get back to you."

"Thank you," Susan said before ending the call.

Not even two minutes later, her phone rang. It was Leon.

"Hello?" Susan answered quickly.

"Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson will see you at his house at nine this morning," Leon said.

"At his house?" Susan frowned. Meeting at Seb's place made her wary. She didn't want to be at his mercy.

Leon seemed to sense her hesitation, responding, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson said he chose his house to avoid complications and to show you some of Hayden's childhood items. If you're still worried, I can accompany you."

Susan knew she had to go to uncover the truth. Even with Leon there, it wouldn't make much difference; he still worked for Seb. It was pointless.

"Alright, tell him I'll be there on time," she said.

"Okay," Leon replied.

Soon after, Serenity arrived, and Spring woke up. After breakfast, Susan went into the kitchen. While Serenity wasn't looking, she slipped a knife into her purse.
